Yes, fair enough. However jokes are a little harder to take when you have family members who have been caught up in the riots.

On a more sarcastic note, the UK won't be seeing Sony Products for a while. ;) At least we still have apple :)

Well im just saying that they are mostly black..

Nope I have not noticed that what I have seen is a bunch of young British men in the main behaving appallingly.

The annoying bit of it all is that our already stretched public purse is going to have to pay the extra bill for the clean up, the police overtime, the criminal proceedings against them all and then any time any of them serve.

I really hope the apple stores in london get trashed tonight.

why?

Why would mindless brutal violence be something that you would hope for ?

I assume :- to create a little bit of fuss and draw attention to yourself on the forum.

If not - and you really do 'hope' that a business (regardless of whom) will be 'trashed' I would maybe consider maybe leaving the forum for a while and visiting a psychiaterist to discuss this issue with them.

The police protecting the Apple Store eh? Hmm... I think the underlying problem is evident here. The police should be protecting the people and their homes and certainly not some retail store belonging to a foreign company.

Certain Tunes come to mind:

I'm obviously against all unprovoked violence and i'm greatly saddened by what is happening. However it doesn't take a genius to figure out this was going to happen. You push people hard enough and you will get a reaction! The government should have expected this.

They interviewed a business owner calling himself 'Big Jim' on TV just now. He described the scene last night and said he saw '200 black people' smashing the place up. The news reporter then said "you can't say that".
The website for his business was on the front of the shop and his numbers are online too;
http://www.bigjimstrims.com/

His site is down due to traffic. Jim isn't a very clever boy.

Why? Is what he said the truth, or what?

I dont think the police are actually protecting the apple store. I think it is a central location for the police to base themselves.

Can we please move this to MR's politics, culture, etc. board? This never had anything to do with Apple. The retail store is located centrally on Oxford Street and as such, is perfect for the police to base their operations from.

Anyone who believes that the police were guarding the Apple store are so deluded its unbelievable. You think the police really care about one store (and let's face it, there are MANY more prestigious stores in London) when the rest of London burns?

Well, Kay Burley said "you can't say that, they weren't all black..." but Big Jim didn't seem interested in taking the issue away from race. I think he wanted to emphasize the race aspect which is why he said he was the only white guy there.

To keep this related to Apple, he looked the type who probably once owned an ipod, maybe.

This entire thread isn't really related to Apple. I think MR wants to take part in the trending hit parade online. Riots are 'in'.

It's a bit silly to focus on racial butthurt while Rome, er, London is burning, don't you think?

And Americans don't think British people get angry.

We are not just a nation of Tea drinkers whom when aggravated enough get motivated to write a letter of complaint. :D
