And Americans don't think British people get angry.

We are not just a nation of Tea drinkers whom when aggravated enough get motivated to write a letter of complaint. :D

*drops monocle*

Sir, you forget yourself! I will summon my manservant forthwith to brew a cup of tea to calm my nerves after this unacceptable lapse of decorum on your part.

Has anyone noticed that most of the people rioting are black....

Unfortunately mate, it's a sad truism that most of the poor, angry people rioting in the fringes of the city that feel like they are owed something from the rest of society are black, despite a large chunk of white Brits too.

Not a racial thing in its simplicity, but a very unfortunate bi-product.

I actually cried a little....

To think that I paid full price for mine and appreciate working for it every day, and now look at this guy.

I thought guns where banned over there?

But it's not people standing up to governments - there are no placcards or calls for anything to be changed. It was triggered by police shooting dead a gangster who may have opened fire on them first, but it's not about that any more. It's just violence and looting.

In Vancouver it was pretty centralised though right? It has now over several areas of London, north and south and also around the UK. I know your comment is more of an observation but I don't think you can really compare the way one was handled against the other.

No. The riots are not all over the UK. They are in certain cities in England. The top news on BBC Cymru (Wales) is that local TV stations will be made available in 6 locations throughout Wales. Boring stuff - but Wales is, at the moment, peaceful and riot free.

Someone here asked if Scotland could have their referendum now. I'd ask the same for Wales too and to be fair, I'm sure many of our English friends would also like to be disassociated with these people.

In summary, this is as I write an English problem (I.e. occurring in England), but on the international stage, it's a UK problem. If someone asks me if I'm proud to be British, I'm going to hit them with my daffodil!

Stood outside apple regents street right now and nothing out of the ordinary. No police or riot vans or anything, just looks like any other day. Shops are closed on Carnaby street as a precaution though.

There were riots yesterday in Dublin if I'm not mistaken, so it's not only England.

****** 'Em

I say we find out where all these kids live and go round and burn down their houses - see how they like it - IDIOTS!!

...In all seriousness you are worrying about one store, owned by a company which currently has more cash that the US...

I have more money than the US (e.g. I'm not $14.6 trillion in debt).

Sorry I don't understand your post are you agreeing or disagreeing with me ?

Agreeing.

I'm confused. In an open, civil society, isn't the the justice system how society deals with lawbreakers?

Yes, but what we want is judicial justice, not judicial revenge, I was merely disapproving of those who wish death/physical harm on looters rather than appropriate justice.

Glad to see multiculturalism working so well in United Kingdom.

What are u talking about? This has nothing to do with race/multiculturalism, which has been a mainstay of the British way of life since before the Viking invasions. Appalling comment.

Compare these rioters to those in the Middle East who face execution, torture, machine guns and snipers and get killed by the dozens trying to overcome actual oppression.

I suggest rounding the looters up and sending them to, say, Syria for a vacation.

Yeah GOD forbid some innocent protects themselves.

+1. The death toll would be horrific if we'd had national, legal gun ownership rights. Thinking about it, the number of lives lost since WW2 for example would have been atrocious. Luckily we don't have a man-made (sorry, ordained by god) document that promises us all, no matter how dumb, such a stupid and apparently necessary object to live free.

No one in London will raise up unless it requires one big pillow fight.
They rather tweet and post on forums saying how the GOV should be protecting them like little sheep just like they where trained to do.

Why do people set things afire during chaos like this? We see this sort of thing all over the world, even after sporting events- what is it some sort of drug to destroy and burn others things?

Stealing, destroying and let's burn while we are at it. F'n sad.

I hope all the people of London rise up, and take their city back.

Prayers to you all-

Gun related homicides in the US ~12,500 per year, UK ~50. (US population is 6 times higher than UK, gun deaths 250 times higher).

Number of people shot be police each year- US ~400, UK ~4.

Murder rate US ~5.0 per 100,000. UK ~1.4.

(Note a higher proportion of US citizens are killed by US police than UK citizens are killed by armed criminals).

You can keep your guns! :D

Personally, I hate this country....its turned into a s-hole full of immigrants and chavs who scrounge off those of us that work damn hard to keep food on the table.

Your country was a big conqueror. Now,it is time for payback. You are just going to have a little dose of what the English did elsewhere. Just endure and be patient!

Nothing new in the state of England...

The Bull Ring has been breached, seem it was not the first time that there was unrest...

Wikipedia "In 1839, the Bull Ring became the location of the Bull Ring Riots which resulted in widespread vandalism and destruction of property. It prompted fears amongst the town's residents at the council's inability to prevent or control the riots and led to speculation that the council were tolerant of lawlessness."

I feel for those who were forced to wake up to the results of mindless violence, rioting and general criminality.

I also noticed the BBC has changed the ongoing coverage title, “London Riots - Live Coverage”, to “English Riots - Live Coverage”. It seems when I woke up the problem was far more widespread than when I went to sleep.

It seems you didn't take notice of what I and others told you earlier in the thread. There still exists special forces, trained in using firearms, which can be deployed anywhere in the UK if necessary.
