Now that the new phones has replace 3d t with long press..how we will long press in forums for example to get “open/open in new tab..etc” since now the long press acting like 3d touch thing “ preview/enter that page ..etc”

iOS 13 has new features that change previous behavior. Hold and you get a site preview and other buttons to press as well

It's not a long press at all. Maybe about 3/4 of a second.

When you press/hold a link, a pop up window will give you numerous action options. And the current web page you are viewing is miniaturized right above the pop up links.

Here are the defaults...

Here’s the proof this feature was all marketing to sell the iPhone 6S, when many people including me were telling the apologists that it was the same exact thing as a long press. It shows.

It has never been the same as a long press. It was a hard press. It’s objectively faster than the new haptic touch. Add that to the fact that the phones could recognize multiple degrees of pressure and the idea that they’re the same just looks absurd.

Same thing but different. Look how it is now. They clearly didn’t care about the hard press anymore. I actually use it a lot especially to quickly save pictures from safari.

Ugh - 3D Touch is absolutely one of the features I will miss most, as I move on from my 6S+.

Can't believe Apple worked 5 years on the technology, obviously didn't market it right to inform the masses, and is now killing it after only 4 years.

Same here. I've always loved 3D touch and felt it was never given the love it should've been. I will miss it moving from my XS for sure

3D touch is not only faster, it is less annoying. Example.... I'm reading a web page and indescrimently put my thumb on the page to begin scrolling once I'm ready. If i happen to hit a picture or URL, I annoyingly get a preview and shortcut menu pop up. With 3D touch, I do not have to worry about where my fingers are on the screen or how long they have been there. It requires extra force to activate the same.

I use 3D touch frequently, but where it's definitely going to be different is where I use it the most, which is when I need to move the cursor while writing text. With 3D touch I can press firmly anywhere on the keyboard and it instantly goes into cursor mode. With haptic touch it's not instant and you can only do it on the space bar. Seems like a tiny thing, and I suppose it is, but I love the instant responsiveness and more usability of 3D touch.

Basically I said the same thing in another thread. 3D Touch is a superior product.

I recently turned 3D Touch off for a few days just to see what haptic touch would feel like. It definitely IS NOT the same.

3D Touch is more immersive and intuitive. The response is also much faster. I'm very surprised Apple gave this competitive edge up with a luke warm mediocre inferior solution. It's definitely making me wonder should I enjoy my Xs Max that much longer before moving on.

Definitely glad I didn't preorder iPhone 11 Pro Max. Not to say that I'm not open to it, but I'm in no rush.

6s here. They’ve slowed down some 3D Touch responses, effectively turning it into a long press mimic. Not nearly as good as unrestricted 3D.

I've used 3D touch since it first came out and use it a hell of a lot, and now on iOS 13 on my XS Max it's bloody terrible being forced to use haptic touch. It is slower and very easy to accidentally activate, never once did I open the menus by mistake on 3D touch. It's extremely disappointing Apple removed this feature.

‘Long press’ is not in the same realm as 3D Touch was with more of a ‘firm press’. They’re really not comparable to each other, also, 3D Touch was almost instantaneous with short cutting certain applications when opening, where long press has a much longer delay. Long press is inferior to 3D Touch manipulation.

I'm definitely going to have to get some hands on time with iPhone 11 Pro Max before I make a final decision.

I’m just going to stay on 12.4.1 to keep my 3D Touch functionality. This will be the first time since owning an iPhone that I won’t be updating immediately when a new version of iOS drops... Damn shame, iOS 13 looks to be a good OS

Let’s just say 3D Touch takes a much more deliberate action than the long press which is pretty finicky.

Using iOS 13 over the last month or so, I have inadvertently activated long press numerous times while browsing webpages. This wasn’t so with 3D Touch.

The milliseconds difference between the two forms of activation is negligible and not really a factor.

I still have 3D Touch on my Xs Max with iOS 13.

I think only the 11 series has dropped it?
