It has never been the same as a long press. It was a hard press. It’s objectively faster than the new haptic touch. Add that to the fact that the phones could recognize multiple degrees of pressure and the idea that they’re the same just looks absurd. Here’s the proof this feature was all marketing to sell the iPhone 6S, when many people including me were telling the apologists that it was the same exact thing as a long press. It shows.
Same thing but different. Look how it is now. They clearly didn’t care about the hard press anymore. I actually use it a lot especially to quickly save pictures from safari. It was never the same as a long press. It was a hard press. It’s objectively faster than the new haptic touch.
“Same thing but different” just means different, but with moving goalposts.Same thing but different.
It means it’s the same thing with a fancier name to sell. There you have it.“Same thing but different” just means different, but with moving goalposts.
You’re free to be in denial if you like. They aren’t the same thing. It’s not subjective. It means it’s the same thing with a fancier name to sell. There you have it.
Ugh - 3D Touch is absolutely one of the features I will miss most, as I move on from my 6S+.
Can't believe Apple worked 5 years on the technology, obviously didn't market it right to inform the masses, and is now killing it after only 4 years.![]()
Ok I’m on denial and use 3D Touch everyday. Next. You’re free to be in denial if you like. They aren’t the same thing. It’s not subjective.
TRUTH 👆💯To be honest 3D touch *is* faster than the long press.
3D touch is not only faster, it is less annoying. Example.... I'm reading a web page and indescrimently put my thumb on the page to begin scrolling once I'm ready. If i happen to hit a picture or URL, I annoyingly get a preview and shortcut menu pop up. With 3D touch, I do not have to worry about where my fingers are on the screen or how long they have been there. It requires extra force to activate the same.

I’m just going to stay on 12.4.1 to keep my 3D Touch functionality. This will be the first time since owning an iPhone that I won’t be updating immediately when a new version of iOS drops... Damn shame, iOS 13 looks to be a good OS
