Sorry my antecedent was not clear. When I said “The government trying to stop a pandemic is more important than you being frightened of it”, by “it” I meant the government, not covid or the vaccination itself.
Oh, I was clear that you were referring to the government. I was flipping it back to COVID because fear is what is driving all the decisions, not actual data or rational discourse.

Is this Nazi Germany (mandatory ID cards - not anything else ! ) ?

Happy to have vaccines but needing to provide documentation to go about your daily life is insane (especially given the <1% mortality rate).

*cough* ~3% mortality rate in the US.

You already need an ID to do a lot of things like travel, have a medical appointment, drive (your id is in the system which any plate scanner references, go to age restricted events, rent something, go to a university, pick up something you have reserved, vote, etc.

Imagine people being excited to use a Nazi ID because it works inside of Apple wallet....

I think I am going to have to pass on this one. And I LOVE Apple Pay. I will gladly use Apple wallet transit passes, credit cards, door keys, etc. I also have my state's drivers license app on my phone! But, this, this just ticks me the wrong way.

Though, I probably will just use it anyway, because I do plan on becoming vaccinated.

Our Federal government should be doing something like this on a national level. We should have a national contact tracing app. We should have a national app that provides proof of vaccine receipt. And we should have national level distribution control of the vaccines. But we all know that there has been both a failure to fund our national institutions (by both parties) and specifically a failure of leadership by the current administration and the Republican Party.

People in this thread actually comparing this to Nazi-****ing-Germany. Then we all sit & wonder why everything has gone to such ****.

No one cares if your feelings are hurt about having to prove that you're a decent, compassionate human being at a time of unprecedented global crisis.

If it means the person next to you is even a tiny little bit safer from your sorry, misguided self, I am all for it. I hope it can be implemented & made compulsory on a global scale.

new moms are tyrannical about protecting new babies from germs (even in the before covid times).
My niece just died in the hospital after contracting both MRSA and pneumonia there which spread all over her body. She was a few weeks premature, but nothing else was wrong with her, she was completely healthy. During a time when hospitals and staff should be hyper-vigilant about cleanliness, my niece still contracted a bacterial infection that is spread by touch or contact with the bacteria. She wasn't born with it. There was nothing my brother or her mom could do. Nothing.

The vaccination does not stop you from infecting people around you. At the moment, it only means you are less likely to end up in the ICU.

It does violate HIPPA.

I was a medical provider for nearly 9 years, up through last year. It is a breach of medical privacy to require proof of vaccination to attend concerts, go to the store, work etc.

It is however NOT a breach of privacy for a company to provide access to records on a digital device such as an iPhone nor is it a breach when an individual VOLUNTARILY discloses this info.

My perspective: This is the worst slippery slope we've seen since WW2. We are about to see society split into two classes of people; those that have vaccinated and those that have not. With privilege and opportunity extended to one and not the other. This is a wild and horrible thing to see happen. I'm not anti medicine, anti science or even anti vaccine. But I'll absolutely not be allowing my body or my family to be part of an international "phase III" trial of a vaccine system that has NEVER been allowed to be injected in humans until this year. 5-7+ years is the normal vaccine testing window. There are reasons mRNA therapeutics have never made it beyond animal testing. Look it up. This is not normal.
HIPAA prevents others from disclosing your health records. If you choose to disclose your own health records, that's completely up to you, but in no way a violation of HIPAA. I don't care what medical background you've supposedly come from if you don't know this basic information.

If a private company requires you to disclose your health records, you do not have to. Flying on a plane or attending a concert is not a right, it is a privilege. And private companies can absolutely demand you disclose information to use those services. Nobody is releasing your health records to these companies, but YOU. It is up to you to choose if you're okay with that. If you aren't comfortable with it, find a different private entity that will provide you the services you want.

I’m not anti-vax, I just got the DTaP and Varacella vaccines. But I’m not taking this, it has been rushed out in a tenth the time that is typical, it is the first mRNA vaccine for humans, I’m in one of the lowest possible risk categories.

The risk of a borderline experimental vaccine is a higher risk to me than COVID-19.

If I was an 80 year old man with health problems I would have a completely different set of risks to weigh.

I’ve never been anti-vax and I won’t be after this is all over. I went out of my way to make sure I was caught up on all my vaccines this year. But there’s a reason vaccine development takes a decade.

I really hope this is the brilliant development it’s touted to be and saves lives, but I’m not about to be a ginea pig.

Fine, but if they can trust us we don’t need papers to prove we got a shot. This clearly shows a blatant lack of trust in its citizens.
Not everyone can be trusted. Just ask the passengers on the flight where a man with symptoms of COVID and a positive COVID test lied when getting on board and proceeded to have a heart attack where he put first responders and everyone else on the plane at risk.

We already have a way to show proof. It's a little yellow International Certificate of Vaccination card for things like yellow fever and others that many foreign travelers have been carrying around for decades. Mine is always with my passport.

The ability to prove I have something I can't get.

I'm on the list at work, should be sometime next week. I work in a high risk setting and made it clear I don't want mine until it's my turn in line despite having multiple underlying conditions including a heart condition and being listed for an organ transplant.

They said this would happen, they said the Government would use this virus to gain more control over us, people said they were conspiracy theorists.
Making this even more ridiculous, getting the vaccine does not mean you aren't carrying the virus.
Yes, people should be concerned about the vaccine, especially vaccines using a technology that has never been used before and without the years of long term safety testing that all previous vaccines were subjected to.
Remember, these vaccines are not FDA approved, they are only allowed to be given due to an emergency declaration.
As for me, I'll gladly wait
