I think it’s more than fair proof of vaccination will be required when people want to fly or attend mass events. Your freedoms end when they threat others.

To whom are these people a threat? Except to others who just like them choose to not get a vaccine. Regardless I think that most people will get a vaccine so this should be a non issue.

It has to be a voluntary personal decision whether to get a vaccine or not. Agency over ones own body is a basic human right and no one should be denied access to travel or events for exercising it.

Until they need to get an airline flight to go on vacation or work in a different country
This is a comprehensive list of countries that will allow foreign travellers to enter without a vaccination

NONE!
What other disease requires a vaccine to board an airplane?

Is this Nazi Germany (mandatory ID cards - not anything else ! ) ?

Happy to have vaccines but needing to provide documentation to go about your daily life is insane (especially given the <1% mortality rate).
Mandatory Vaccinations have have ready been decided by the US Supreme Court - it does NOT violate the constitution

There are a number of tropical counties that require mandatory vaccines for numerous tropical diseases
I travelled to India 3 years ago I had to get a number of vaccinations.

I traveled to India in 2013 and I didn't need to provide any kind of vaccination record to get the business visa or gain entry. Did they change the rules at some point?

I decided to get the 4 CDC recommended vaccines for going there, and got them all at the same time, two in each arm. I was a bit sore afterwards!

They don’t require vaccines. Your country suggests you get one to go.

My niece just died in the hospital after contracting both MRSA and pneumonia there which spread all over her body. She was a few weeks premature, but nothing else was wrong with her, she was completely healthy. During a time when hospitals and staff should be hyper-vigilant about cleanliness, my niece still contracted a bacterial infection that is spread by touch or contact with the bacteria. She wasn't born with it. There was nothing my brother or her mom could do. Nothing.
That’s bloody horrific. Condolences to you and your family.

I have a masters in Biological Science, and have studied infectious diseases for the past 6 years. One might say that qualifies me to be able to speak as I do, much more than the what is said in the media about it.

FYI - I don't believe in the conspiracy theorys going about, but I tell you for a fact the governments response to this whole this is not inline with what they should be doing

and yet the point he made is much better than yours.

That's not how vaccinations work. By not vaccinating yourself, you are NOT only putting your own live at risk. There's a demographic that can't be vaccinated because of their age or underlying illnesses: infants, people with compromised immune systems, chemo patients, people with severe allergies, pregnant women, some elderly, people with bleeding disorders, etc... the list is potentially very long. All these people are at risk when they come into contact with someone who refuses to get the vaccine.

And if enough people refuse to vaccinate, the virus will keep on circulating in the population, ... Infected people will be reservoirs for the virus where it can mutate until eventually a mutation emerges the vaccine is not effective against. And then the problem starts all over again.

Also, don't forget that even if you are vaccinated it is still unclear if you can't be a carrier and still infect others. This pandemic is far from over.

So yes, it's definitely within the realm of possibilities that countries, airline companies, event organizers will prohibit people from entering without proof of vaccination. If that's what it takes to protect their citizens, customers and business, ... it's definitely a realistic option.

Remember HIPAA?

Back when we viewed medical knowledge of one's body as DEEPLY PERSONAL information?

Amazing, how quickly a crisis throws out our rights.

EDIT: Yes, haters, I understand HIPAA isn't technically violated. The point is that HIPAA's protection of medical information isn't very useful if one has to surrender said info to "to access flights, concerts, and more".
Please don’t try to enhance your weak argumentation by calling people who disagree “haters”.
It just wouldn’t make sense in a pandemic to let everyone access flights, concerts and more.
You still have the right to not go to concerts and so on as long as the pandemic exists.
In fact you have the same right as before not to reveal any medical data.

Everything in life is a calculated risk. The flu kills hundreds of thousands of people a year yet we don’t require people to carry proof of vaccination. Furthermore, vaccination doesn’t guarantee 100% protection nor is it 100% safe.

People who want to take the risk of living their lives without being vaccinated should be allowed to do so, and the majority of us who get vaccinated should be fine from those who are infected so why force people to get vaccinated and/or carry around a card? It definitely has shades of Nazi Germany, and that should scare everyone more than Covid, which despite the hysteria being caused by the media, will kill half as many people in the US as cancer.

The flu vaccine is absolutely 100% safe. Got an egg allergy? There's a different vaccine for you.

As for killing hundreds of thousands of people per year? In 2019, there were 34,000 deaths. That's a far cry from "hundreds of thousands". Oh, and that was a "bad flu year" where the vaccine was deemed ineffective and there were 36 million flu infections as a result.

Stop being so dramatic. When you go to another country, you already need paper work like a passport. And some countries require proof of vaccinations, against for instance yellow fever. This is nothing new. If this needs to be (temporarily) extended to flying or attending mass events to save lives, so be it. You still have the freedom to refuse.

This is not about arguing that vaccinations are mandatory. Also, nobody is forcing you to carry around a card like in Nazi Germany. Nobody will arrest you and send you off to a concentration camp if you’re not vaccinated.

Your comparison with the flu or cancer is deeply flawed, I’m not even going into that one.

It’s already a thing to enter many countries from certain countries. I have a certificate to prove yellow fever vaccination in the back of my passport.

If it was that simple as the decision not to get vaccinated only effects that one person, hey I would be all for it. But there is a reason why herd immunity is important. It protects the immunocompromised. Getting vaccinated help establishes herd immunity.

This anti-vaccination movement that has gained a decent effort is why measles a disease that was eliminated in the US saw a comeback a few years back. And the measles vaccine does prevent you from being a carrier that means getting the measles vaccine helps protect those who can't get vaccinated.

This is why there is such hatred for anti-vaxxers.

BUT to be clear yet again, I can understand the skepticism into the COVID vaccine given the speed it was developed. As long as those people use good data( and not fringe data) as it comes out to determine when they are comfortable getting the vaccine, then fine.
We have to weigh the pros and cons of taking away people’s liberties vs the public’s safety... both very serious issues.

I think in rare cases, we do need to take away people’s liberties, but from everything we know about Covid, this isn’t one of them. One, because vaccinating everyone won’t make Covid go away, and two, because it’s not fatal for most. The reason why measles is so alarming is because of its mortality rate among young people.

It’s reasonable to assume that the vast majority of people who are most susceptible to Covid (the elderly and people with underlying conditions) will elect to get vaccinated, and the vast majority who do not get vaccinated will likely be under 50 and healthy. If those assumptions are true, then Covid’s effects shouldn’t be any worse than influenza which is, and has been, a non-issue so I don‘t see the need to take drastic measures like taking away people’s liberties which could lead us down a very slippery slope.

As for anti-vaxxers, I don’t know much about that movement or how it got started, but I do know that my dog almost died from an allergic reaction to a vaccine when he was a pup, and I ended up in the hospital and missing almost a month of work because of a “simple” flu vaccine, so there are definitely risks involved.

1. Covid is actually a lot like the flu, just more virulent and far more lethal for the elderly and people with certain conditions.
2. Requiring paperwork to enter a country is very different from requiring one to get on a plane.
3. We don’t require people to carry proof of antibodies to get on a plane today, so why require proof of vaccination?
4. If a card is required to travel, why stop there? How about dining at restaurants? Going to the movies? Going to school? Going to the supermarket?

Of course not... heaven forbid you dine next to a contagious person, then take the virus over to your grandparents. Had the restaurant had your info, they could have warned you of the exposure

This selfish behavior is a contributing factor to why we are in the situation we are in

and I’m guessing you only pay cash right?
How am I going to be exposed in the restaurant if I've already said I'm not going in?

I must be doing something right, I haven't had a cold of any sort in over 2 years. Feel free to direct your self righteous indignation at the person staring you in the mirror.

Why don't you go ahead and post your full immunization records here, so we can make sure you're all up to date. You might infect someone with measles with your selfish behavior.

And wrong again! Don't use cash unless I have to, been doing that for many years.
