A good episode. I think Terry O'Quinn is a terrific actor. His acting, even down to his facial expressions are so realistic. I think he plays John Locke pretty well.

I agree. His character is very complicated - a "lonely old man" (Jack Shepard, LOST), and a seemingly pathetic one, but the tasks and responsibilty thrust upon him and his handling of these tasks say to me that there is way more to him than meets the eye. He walks the line between lonely old man and destined leader pretty well. You can't really help but to like him and feel for him, everything he's doing he truly believes is right. Jack and the others were so hard on him in yesterday's episode it almost made me upset - he's doing what he has to in order to save the only place he has ever been welcome. Beyond the character, O'Quinn does do a really great job representing this man, as you said his facial expressions and speech inflections are just about perfect.

I agree with everything you just said.

I'm a pretty casual television viewer. It wasn't until I was watching last nights episode that it dawned on me how good an actor he actually is. I'm glad to see he won an Emmy Award in 2007 for Lost.

I thought Ben killed Locke as soon as he heard that Locke had Jin's wedding ring and was to dissuade Sun not to return to the Island which would defeat the all should return command, therefore Ben faking Lockes suicide would make Sun want to return because she doesn't get to hear Locke telling her not to return, in short Locke had to die and Ben eventually realised this.

Ben must have foreseen how these events would unravel though, he must have known that he'd stop being dead on the island.

So maybe it was necessary that Locke had to die. Maybe Ben knew that he'd come back to life. Guess we'll find out next episode.

In the short term all I want to know now is who is good and who is bad

The oddest thing about last night's episode was that is was so linear. It wasn't told with scores of interwoven flashbacks and flashforwards. The scenes didn't constantly flip from one character to another as in so many episodes of late. I was confused by the lack of confusion!

At a minimum, they should have showed you the shadow of a body hanging by a wire at the start of the show, then let you wait an hour to find out if it was actually Locke, and how he ended up that way.

I'm not sure about Ben knowing that Locke would be resurrected but I'm sure he knew Locke had to die.

Don't we all. Widmore and Ben echoed each others aims

Ha Ha yes it was a straight forward episode with a singular thread, that's been done in the past though hasn't it.

Richard & Jakob told John he had to die, Ben probably knew this too.
Would suicide have made it not possible for John to return?
Ben knew this, stopped John, then killed him so John could return?

Eloise seemed friendly with Ben, I think Ben knew where she was well before John said she was in LA

When Locke walked into the tent where the injured from the plane were he looked over and saw Ben on a cot. Ben had blood on his face. The same exact blood that he had when he phoned Jack from the phone booth asking him to pick up Locke's casket.

In all honesty I don't think Ben knows as much as most people think, all that was said was Locke had to die. Suicide, murder, it still means death.

The question is why Is Ben, Locke and the Pilot (name escapes me) in present time and the 06 in the past, if that really is the case .

Maybe, maybe not. I think perhaps in order for someone to get resurrected on the island, their body needs to remain intact. So, for example, if John had broken his neck, he wouldn't be able to be ressurected, and wouldn't be able to fufill his purpose.

Ben knew this (maybe because he is dead too?!)

Just want to say I enjoy this thread as it provides some answers to me as I do not remember past episodes and details as well as many of you. Perhaps you could all help with a question I have.

Why the hell is Faraday wearing a tie on the island? :D

Just to confirm he is a geek/genius/eccentric:D

.................Ben knew this (maybe because he is dead too?!)............
Aww man, I didn't need to hear that.
That adds another possible dimension to LOST:D

I wonder what next season is supposed vto be about? Im freaking out about the possible ending bthat one person gave where they think they it was all a dream but they know who each other is.

I looked back a few pages and haven't seen this mentioned.

Could Charlotte be the baby from the beginning of Season 5. You see a Korean couple in bed and he wakes up to care for the baby, if you watch the link below you'll see the baby is not Korean. Charlotte talked about how she and her mom left the island and this would explain that she can speak to Jin because she was raised by a Korean couple.

Episode 4, miles gets his first nose bleed, he says to daniel, "why am I getting nose bleeds?
Daniel says to Miles, "I don't know, it could be the amount of exposure...."
Miles says, "those yahoos have been here months, I've only been here 2 weeks."
Daniel then says to him, "Are you sure about that?"
They both stop and stare at each other.

Is Miles the baby in episode 1?
It's hair is not red, possibly not charlotte.

Why were alot of posts deleted? That is unacceptable. What if there was something important i needed to refer to?

Cool those fiery jets!

But they certainly are building it up for Miles to have been that baby. They might pull that whole Lost switcheroo and make it a different person currently on the island.

Like Jin ?

Didn't Ben take the baby away then return to the island then go back to the mainland ?

Jin somehow shows up on the island where he became one of the original Darhma Project members.

Jin would be an appropriate choice as a Dharma "enforcer". After all, he had job experience working for Mr. Paik (Sun's father), intimidating businessmen. And even though he didn't really want to be a murderer, he could be violent. If you have a good memory, you'll recall that Jin attacked Michael in one early episode because Michael was wearing the gold watch that Jin was carrying on the plane.

Amusing trivia: Actor Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) had to pretend he didn't speak English, and later that he spoke it only poorly, even though he's a native English speaker. Meanwhile, actor Byron Chung (Mr. Paik), who has had a long TV career on shows from "The Streets of San Francisco" to "M*A*S*H" to "Alias", didn't speak Korean, so he had to learn enough to say his lines on the show.
