Miles, and dead people. And Daniel. And Naomi. And Whats his face finding out about LeFleur kidnapping Ben, and MILES! and HURLEY!

Great episode.

Now atleast all of you guys will know where Farraday is!

I've been wondering this for a while ... Could Christian Shephard have been on the island at some point, maybe a contemporary of Widmore? That would mean his alcoholism could be a function of his leaving the island, just as Jack started abusing substances when he left.

The Oceanic 815 crash could have been an attempt to get Christian's corpse back on the island. This offers parallels to Locke, except that Locke appears to be corporeal (if he's not Smoky) and Christian doesn't.

Ya interesting episode. I guess Widmore built the Oceanic plane ? Or part of it.

Faraday coming on the island via sub means he was on the mainland and probably got there using time because the last we saw him it was in 2006? Now he's back in 1977.

I saw a "blooper" too. Or perhaps it wasn't because it's happened before. In the scene where Jack was in the school room talking to Ben's father he had no name on his uniform. In the next scene in his house his uniform said "Jack".

so it sounds like he knows how to manipulate time travel to the exact year. hum?

Are you referring to what Miles said about the dead guy? That was in reference to the episode last season (Meet Kevin Johnson I believe) where Tom tells Michael about Widmore and how he dug up those graves and bought an old plane and he is the person who staged the fake 815 plane. So it looks like Ben's people killed that guy.

"What lies in the shadow of the statue." What do we think of this? At first I thought that the peeps on Hydra Island who are taking over worked for Widmore and this was their little secret password, but it appears that this isn't the case as the guys in the van were anti-Widmore and used the same phrase. Possibly a third group fighting for the island?

Solid episode, lots of interesting info and was awesome to get to see them building the hatch and putting in the "serial number." Really annoyed that there is not a new episode next week (isn't this the reason we take 8 months off???) but oh well, the special looks interesting. Can't believer we're hitting 100 already... We've come so far.

Maybe I'm confused. I was talking about the scene where they are building a structure and one guy is stamping a part then he says "what?" when the other guy tells him the last 2 numbers to stamp. Hurley says "49" and Miles askes him how he knew that then Hurley says "Thats the compartment number of the plane we crashed in".

Of course it could have been the fake plane Widmore put in the ocean to cover up the crash.

Oh, no no. :D

Hurley says "42". Hurley knows because these are the numbers he heard from Leonard, which he used to play the lotterey, which appeared on the hatch, etc. What they were building is the Swan Hatch, the hatch were Desmond was in. Hurley said (something like) "That's the hatch that crashed our plane" referring to what happened on September 22, 2004 when Desmond was late to push the button and the electromagnetism started building up. Season 2 finale. ;)

OK. Thanks. Remember folks Peace takes a lot of strong medicine. Pain killers etc. ( legally ) so I often get confused.

Great episode. The best ones are always the episodes that don't follow the (needless) relationships.

Was the guy in the van that abducted Miles also the guy who recently crashed on the island? I like that they actually do seem to be the good guys, both Ben and Widmore being bad guys now.

Sorry, just to clarify we last saw Faraday mourning Charlotte back in 1977 where he sees a red-headed young girl in the Dharma camp.

What makes you think Ben did it? Could Widmore have had him killed to keep the fake 815 plane a secret? (That' one of the infuriating great things about Lost, never at a loss for questions) ;)

I'm kind of with you that it's a third group, but I think that third group is the original leaders of the Dharma initiative.

I really liked this episode, in particular Hurley. That character seems to be a cross between Jiminy Cricket and 'The Dude' (a la 'The Big Lebowski'). It's the one character who's always gone out of his way to help others without some self-serving pretense. The wife says I have a man-crush on him... she just jealous because she can't make garlic mayo! :p

I rather like the obvious answer to that.

"what lies in the shadow of the statue"
"Darkness"

i wonder of the Miles's dad, the DHARMA guy, knows that grown up miles is his son. After all, he is fully aware of the islands magical powers.

Yes, but did you miss the obvious? Jack was erasing a History lesson, which was talking about the Ancients / Egyptians??? At each cut away back to Jack, another section of the board was erased until he walked out. I have to check the LOST Rumor sites to see if anyone got a closeup of it. They can pick out books from a shelf, I'm sure they can get the blackboard! LOL

What a great episode. I forgot we didn't get a background on Miles. I had to laugh when Daniel popped out of the sub and knew Miles. I was thinking about this post and how it just came up. It's funny how so many people have serious issues. Are there any normal people that landed on the island or did Ben kill the last one?

I guess the hatch was built to somehow channel the energy that must be screwing something else up on the island. It ripped the guys filling through is head, so were back to the electromagnetism of the island. If they could build that hatch, why couldn't they put a cron job together to avoid having to enter the numbers? LOL

Things are starting to unravel though as Sawyer punched the guy with the tape. Think Sawyer is going to set him up outside the fence?

This show has been too much fun lately.

They're not fully aware yet, they're still experimenting. Besides if Pierre did know he was future Miles he'd be slightly more alarmed being close to his child self, he flipped during the rabbit video when they got close!

Miles said that his father left when he was a child. It was my assumption that when Miles went up to his fathers house to talk to him in the camp he saw himself ( as a baby ) in his fathers lap being read to. This means his father was killed during the uprising and Mile's mother left the island with little miles in tow.

How many Oceanic members are now known to originate from the island ?

I'm beginning to wonder if all of them originated from the island. Perhaps explaining why they had to return.

yes thats why they all ended up back at the island. at least thats my theory. they them selfs my not have been to the island before, but all have some sort of connection to it.

Didn't Miles say his dad left when he was a baby?

The purge didn't happen until what, Ben's 2Xth birthday and he's still a boy in 1977 when Miles is a baby. That would mean that by the time of the purge, Miles was closer to 10+ years old. I'll have to look back, but I think the purge was around 1992, which would have put Miles at around 15.

My thought was that his mom fled the island with him either against his dad's desires OR she did it to get away from his dad perhaps because his dad went wacky on the island being around all that secret stuff.

Apparently. I haven't looked into it myself but on my Lost forum someone pointed that out. So whatever group that is, they are on the island. And they don't look too nice.

Well I just assumed Ben's people did it because Tom had the documents. So what I'm thinking is that that man was one of Widmore's guys and he was killed and Tom got the information that he had. I dunno, I just assumed he was part of Widmore since Naomi had him. But I guess there could be a different explanation.

Good point! For those who need a refresher: Orchid Orientation Video

"Don't let them near each other!" So, seems like there's potential for a SNAFU if the two entities are near each other...? Then again, I think the time travel they were experimenting with the bunnies is a little different then what Sawyer and co. went through. But hopefully they'll expand on this.

Could be but in last nights episode it showed Mile's mother and a young Miles ( around 10 ) renting an apartment and she paid extra for having the child. I assumed she had just left the island as was looking for a place to live.

This is also when Miles knew he could "read" dead people.

I think we were meant to share Miles' shock in learning that his father loved him as a baby after all, and that his mom had been lying to him about that for his whole life. Maybe he'll soon see his mom run off with baby him.

My wild guess about the question "what lies in the shadow of the statue?" is that we're meant to misinterpret the phrasing, and that it is really asking "what tells falsehoods in the shadow of the statue?"

Dumbest moment: Hurley was not supposed to be along for the ride with Miles, or to see the body. After all, only Miles has been let into the inner circle. So why is Hurley still with him as they drive by the hatch being built? That's pretty sloppy security for people so concerned with security.

Best moment in the episode: Hurley blurting out that he won't tell about the body. He just can't not talk, can he? He's a great character because he's so straightforward, and such a contrast to everyone else's conflicted feelings and hidden agendas. If Hurley was one of us, watching Lost every week, he wouldn't analyze it at all; he'd just watch the episodes and eat his snack. Locke would spend all his time here posting about the true meaning of everything. And Ben would simply have us all killed.

I didn't realize that the episodes name was "Some like it Hoth"

A bit of Star Wars Trivia... in honor of Hugo Reyes' screenplay The Empire Strikes Back. I cracked up when Hurley said he was writing the screenplay and adding some improvements!

Someone mentioned earlier that in the training video, they all freak out when the time traveling bunny comes in close proximity to himself. Here's a thought: maybe at some point Miles' dad realizes who the adult Miles is and sends his wife and son away in order to keep his son safe?
