Yeah, I mean, The poster above me was saying that if an island moved, it'd have huge tidal waves and tsunami's and stuff. So I was just saying...

that it actually implies some sort of teleport. if you teleport away a bubble containing the island you'd have a huge mass of water rushing in, as if the island-mountain had disappeared vertically down. that would generate massive waves, inward and then outward.
similarly, wherever the island 'landed' would have to displace whatever was there, that is exactly the kind of events that generate tsunamis. only this would be bigger.

From what we've been shown. Jin is back when the French arrived, while the team hiking around the island has gone to other times. And Desmond's previous time-traveling was solo.
as atszyman said above, i think Jin was travelling in sync with the rest, he just happens to be on a raft in the middle of the ocean within the radius of the travelling. so right now everyone is back in 1988, or whenever the french team got marooned.

I think the bear in the desert is all the proof I need... how else do you explain a bear with a dharma collar getting there, the exact same place that Ben went when he moved the wheel. It makes too much sense for it not to be true.

i don't disagree, but then it IS a fan speculation, not an established event. it thought i had missed some part that directly showed it.

As far as Michael, he's dead. he stayed with the bomb, whereas Jin at least was outside at the moment of the explosion. Didn't Michael even have a vision telling him he 'could go now"? or something like that?

.............Didn't Michael even have a vision telling him he 'could go now"? or something like that?........

Yes, just before the explosives went boom, christan Shepard (aka jakob) appeared and said to michael "thank you, you can go now michael"

So jakob lets people go!

I don't have to wait for the next episode, now that I can save the island whenever I like using a free iPhone app.

So are we about to switch back to the Island being the current time, and flashbacks to the city from the time Locke got there until his death?

Series starts with Island current and flashbacks to the mainland, progresses to mainland current with flashbacks to the Island, and then back again?

At least now we know the Smoke Monster™ guards a temple...

Great! A non-answer that leads to the question, "what the hell is the temple for?"

Any bets that the temple worships four toed people?

At least we know where the smoke monster lives ;)

We also have confirmation of who Daniels mom is. So far all the forum theory's have been correct.

What does the well disappearing say about the time travel? They are in a time before the well was dug (obviously), but lock was still in the cave. Did he not jump with the others?

Is it me or did Jakob suggest that the wheel was off its hinge and thats why the flashes were occurring. I Love it that he told Locke he was supposed to turn the wheel not Ben.

Does that imply that Ben took the job instead of being given the Job as the leader of the others?

Is Daniels mom the keeper of the modern day Temple (church) that keeps track of the island?

Will Sawyer be heartbroken if Kate doesn't return?

We know Daniel was on the island in the past and spoke to Charlotte as a little girl. Did we see him as part of a time shift (when they were filming the training tape) or was he really there? Could Daniel be like Richard since it didn't look like he aged in the current day.

Yet another episode that brought up more questions than it answered.

Man I was blown away by yesterday's episodes. Some cool questions/answers:

So Jin is the reason Danielle didn't follow her friends into the temple and thus lived to deliver Alex and meet the 815 survivors?

Danielle's craziness began because she had to shoot her baby's daddy

Whatever happens in the temple after the smoke monster pulls you in makes you crazy? Or maybe that only happened to the French people, we haven't seen it happen to anyone else...or have we? There have been a lot of funny-acting dead people over the past 4 seasons...

One of my favorite mysteries that has been raised this season is why a normal-aged Faraday was digging to create the orchid - as demonstrated in the first scene of the first episode of this season. After seeing this, I wondered why so much of what was happening on the island seemed to be new to Faraday - just like him warning a young Charlotte seems to be new to him too. Was he there, and then forgot all about it? Awesome story line we have building here...

Locke has to leave the island as he entered it - unable to walk.

My speculation about the time jumps was that the donkey wheel under the orchid was constatly spinning, so the island was jumping. I was pretty close with the wheel being off it's base. Cool stuff.

Ben has spent the entire 3 years that the O6 has been off the island actually protecting them. He knows they have to come back to the island, and also knows there are a good amount of people/forces that want the O6 dead.

Meeting at 9:30...more to come. I feel like this ep was a season finale-caliber episode.

I'm pretty sure he jumped with them since there was no well-hole above him, the roof of the cave was solid so there was no well whenever he was either.

Is it me or did Jakob suggest that the wheel was off its hinge and thats why the flashes were occurring. I Love it that he told Locke he was supposed to turn the wheel not Ben.

That wasn't Jacob, Jack's dad, whatever his name is/was, is just one of Jacob's helpers. I do find it interesting that the wheel seems to jump with the rest of them. I assume that it was knocked off it's axis by Ben, and if they jumped to a time before the Orchid was built, then the wheel should have been fine if it were not jumping with them.

How many toes does she have?

I think that they are now back in the time where Daniel will talk to Charlotte as a little girl. They are in a time before the Orchid station was built, but that does not mean that the Dharma initiative was not on the island yet. We saw him previously when Dharma was doing some underground drilling. Might that be the construction of the Orchid station?

If they are supposed to meet up with the Oceanic 6 yet, then there's at least one more jump back to the present so Daniel does not have to be as ageless as Richard. Of course if just being on the Island makes you ageless, then maybe there isn't another jump for the islanders. Maybe they have to sit and wait for 60 years or so for the 6 to return...

Yet another episode that brought up more questions than it answered.

I'm predicting the series finale will just be a show that brings up a bunch of questions and answers none, just to leave us wondering forever. It's going to be like The Lady, or the Tiger all over again.

Have you found out what the boarding pass says when you fold it according to the origami instructions on that site?

Did you read the Destinations descriptions? They were kind of cute...

Yeah I dug through the site pretty thouroughly. One of the descriptions reccomends folding your boarding pass into oragami to stay entertained on the plane, and then you can print out a sample boarding pass from a different part of the site.

I didn't do it myself, but apparently this site has been around since November, so a quick google came up with what the thing says when you fold it - I won't ruin it for you, just google "ajira airways origami"

Agreed

I believe Jacob is not a real person, but rather just the force and spirit of the island. I believe he displays/controls significant (dead) people like Jack's dad and Claire in order to speak his message to important people like Ben and Locke.

I think they verified in that first scene of the first episode of this season that this was indeed the building of the orchid station. I don't think they said it directly, but I think they kind of beat you over the head with evidence.

I believe Daniel is like Richard. How else do you explain him digging in the orchid and talking to Charlotte. I don't know how the island chooses people to stay ageless (it obviously doesn't happen with Ben, as he grows up on the island).

Also, someone mentioned that maybe Ben took over the others without the island's consent. I think this is a really interesting theory, but I don't neccesarily agree with it - the island would have made quick business of Ben if it didn't want him to rule the others. Instead, it let him control the others for years, and then get a tumor only when a qualified doctor is on the island to fix him.

Right now Daniel is in a time before the Orchid was built. What's to prevent him from finding the Dharma people currently in his time and infiltrating to talk to Charlotte and play at the Orchid construction site. Daniel doesn't remember talking to Charlotte, because for him it has not happened yet. He doesn't have to be ageless like Richard to be able to talk to Charlotte as a young girl, they are time traveling after-all.

OK I see what you're saying now. So Daniel, Sawyer and the others could have jumped to the time period when the orchid is being built, and he could have talked to Charlotte there. That's a solid idea.

Maybe after Charlotte dies, he goes to the Orchid site and infiltrates it just so he can tell her not to come back? Is that what you're saying?

One of my predictions before this episode was that people of the normal time period forget the jumpers after they get time-flashed away, like it never happened. But this was disproven, as Danielle remembers Jin from one flash to the next.

Maybe I've been watching too many caving DVD's, but one has to wonder how the actual wheel bit was built. We can assume the hostiles put it there, but from what we've seen it's a single wheel that must have been carried down there and installed, rather than built up of smaller parts. The wheel was there before the well so there must have been a large tunnel to it.

And is it just me or did the wheel seem to have less supports than what the xray and Ben's scene displayed? Also don't think I spotted any holes on it.

Going off all the wacky timeline stuff, the well itself was only around for a short time. Why was it built? Why was it destroyed? Given the xrays of the area and all that, why didn't they spot this "collapsed" well and make their way to it from there?

But what a fantastic episode. Lost and fast pacing go well together.

Pretty much, it would explain why Daniel looked at her like she was nuts when she said she thought that the "crazy man" was Daniel. And I can see how a little girl could conceive Daniel as a "crazy man".

Daniel doesn't remember because he hasn't done it yet, and now with the wheel stabilized the jumps may be less frequent allowing for more time to pull of the infiltration. Getting back to the time when the 6 will come back might also require Daniel gaining access to the wheel room or Orchid station facilitating the infiltration plan.

Well who knows what the time travel does to the thing... We've seen some things go with people somethings disappear... maybe the wheels status (on/off axis) stays constant through the shifts while the physical condition of the wheel changes to match the time period. I didn't see a massive tunnel of anything so it's entirely possible that the time where Ben moved it is long before Dharma even got to the Island (sure it doesn't jive with my theory that this is the time that Daniel talks to Charlotte, but they could always jump again to do that).

I don't think the hostiles, others, Dharma, or anyone we've seen is responsible for the construction of the wheel. I think it's something that has been with the island for quite some time... maybe built by the "Four Toed Ones".

Could the Wheel be from the Blackrock?

I had forgotten that they were building something in the beginning. Didn't the scientist tell them to be careful in a certain area of the cave when they were digging?

If anyone is interested in the findings of that airline site:

Ajira Airlines

Some interesting stuff. People are pretty clever figuring out some of this stuff...

We don't know how long the well was there for. After Locke climbed down the well, there was a flash. After the flash, the well was gone. This was probably due to them traveling backwards into the past, before the well was built. The reason that Sawyer was still holding onto the rope is because he was holding it during the flash and took it with him.

The cave was always there. The well was dug to the cave. Locke did time travel with the rest of them.

Dr. Christian Shephard.

I didn't do it myself, but apparently this site has been around since November, so a quick google came up with what the thing says when you fold it - I won't ruin it for you, just google "ajira airways oragami"
Make that "ajira airways origami" (spelling difference).

Lots of people grew up on the island without being ageless, including Charlotte. Danielle certainly aged while on the island, and so did the babies born on the island.

I wonder if, perhaps, Richard isn't ageless after all, but we've only seen him when he was time-traveling from the time that matches his current age.

When Ben break though the experimental chamber wall to get into the tunnel, it could have been in the middle of the tunnel. We don't know where the other end of the tunnel is, and that could have been where the wheel was before it was installed. Of course, "before" is a tricky concept when you're dealing with time travel!

The reason that Sawyer was still holding onto the rope is because he was holding it during the flash and took it with him.
Thanks for explaining that. I was puzzled that they were back before the well was dug but the rope was sticking out of the ground. That's the kind of issue I was speculating about earlier in the thread.

Perhaps later in time the well was dug to find out why a rope was sticking out of the ground. Then, when the well-diggers found a tunnel and the giant wheel, they thought the rope had been left there purposely to lead them to that location!

Very cool. I didn't even think that many steps ahead (re: the rope sticking out of the ground which leads to the digging of the well, and then the builders of the well attaching a new rope to the newly-built well). I wonder if the writers even thought about it that way, or if they just assumed that a well was dug there in a search for water (meaning not built there because a rope was sticking out of the ground).

It's been a while since I've time-travelled. I have to remember to think like a time-traveller again....... ;)

Charlotte on the island

I looked back a few pages and haven't seen this mentioned.

Could Charlotte be the baby from the beginning of Season 5. You see a Korean couple in bed and he wakes up to care for the baby, if you watch the link below you'll see the baby is not Korean. Charlotte talked about how she and her mom left the island and this would explain that she can speak to Jin because she was raised by a Korean couple.

Very interesting. We could take this a step further and attribute many of the show's unanswered questions to Locke, Sawyer, Daniel and Jin going back in time and meeting all of these people. Things like:

Jin keeping Danielle from going into the temple, and thus surviving to birth Alex

Daniel talking to young Charlotte (which may or may not still happen, just a hunch we discussed earlier)

Richard Alpert having the compass to show young Locke

The rope leading to the Well

The others knowing to bury the bomb (Daniel told them) - if that's what they actually do

Big stretch: If past Ellie (cute blonde with the gun who bickers w/ Whidmore) is actually Daniels mother - Eloise Hawking, then maybe the reason she knows so much and is so obsessed with the island is because she had the unique opportunity to talk to Daniel (while they were traveling to the bomb). She might have been the first other to understand the true power of the island

This correlates with what happened to Desmond when Daniel visited him. As soon as he was visited, present day (future) Desmond knew everything that Daniel said to past Desmond on the island. So all of these things that happened or are going to happen in the future are a result of the stranded visiting different time periods in the past.

What do you guys think?

So now we've got a rope stuck in the ground that has evidently been stuck in a time loop, although I guess when they dig the well they put in a new rope, therefore starting the cycle over again... I can buy that, but I still need to see Richard buy another identical Compass to account for it's original origin.
