I might be wrong but when Jack and the Japanese guy . Dogen ?. When they were having a conversation Jack asks him how he knows the pill cures the "infection". Dogen's response was "because you're sister had it". Now I may have heard it wrong and he actually said "your sister HAS it".

If this is the case the poison pill doesn't kill the body. Thats obvious because later on Claire is seen shooting the two others.
I am remembering that conversation a little differently. I thought that Dogen was telling Jack what the consequences would be if Sayid didn't take the poison: that the "darkness" infection would grow until it took over completely--as it did with Claire. In other words, because Claire didn't get the "cure", she went nuts.

I agree that as best we can tell they are still unhappily married, and it's unclear how this change has affected them. There's a chance that Sun doesn't know English in this new timeline; that is (so far) still ambiguous.

She still knows English.

You could tell how she responded to "Do you speak English?"

She said: "No......(pause).... English." As if she was contemplating what to say. And she said the word "English" with proper English pronunciation, unlike how Jin said it with an accent.

I think that Russo also had the infection which wasn't "cured".

Ok. that makes sense. My bad.

I do have a question though.

If the Others are supposed to protect the losties and aren't supposed to kill them. WHY do they keep threatening to shoot them ?. I think only Sawyer realized that. That's why he just got up and left.

Because it adds drama and tension to the show if they don't communicate everything to each other.

For some reason, the Others have decided not to expain anything to the losties. "We need to protect you from the Smoke Monster" would have worked just fine. They don't want the losties to leave, but they aren't going to shoot them either.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I'm not saying that she doesn't know English, just that we don't know for sure. The writers made that scene intentionally ambiguous.

Yeah, I don't quite get the dynamic there yet either, unless it's simply that the Others still don't know if they can trust the Losties yet. Based on what happened with Sayid, they seem to still be suspicious that this is a trick.

Here's a bizarre theory.:p

Remember Richard told the other others NOT to shoot FLocke. That's because when smokey get's shot at it attacks.

Lennon told the others NOT to shoot the losties.

Are they ALL smokies?

:D I think that's quite a stretch. I don't think that they're smokies.

I think that the losties names were on the piece of paper in the guitar case and that it said to protect them.

I think that Russo also had the infection which wasn't "cured".

It was almost as if Claire had taken Rousseau's place on the island.

The others started saying something about Rousseau when they found the trap, but stopped short as usual.

The parallel between Russo and Claire is that both of them had their babies taken from them. I know Claire kind of walked away from hers, but it now appears that it wasn't really her choice.

All you'd get out of that is twice the commercials and questions and half the answers.
QFT!

Actually I've often wondered if the extra commercial length is a device they use to extend the season. IIRC the contract they got was longer than the writers had designed for. Everything after that point (late & short seasons, and the change of pace in season ...3?...) seems to have been done in order to stretch things out without changing the key plot points. Adding an extra few minutes of commercials I bet would allow them to stretch it out another episode or two.

Another aside: I finished (re-)watching Season 1, and just started Season 2, and it reminded me that the cold open for Season 2---where we see Desmond down in the Swan station, before the Losties blow up the hatch---was perhaps one of the best cold opens for any show that I've ever seen.

Totally agree, 100%. My favorite moment of television ever.

I had watched all of Season 1 on DVDs a few days before Season 2 premiered, and gotten hopelessly hooked on the show. I was on the edge of my seat when the first episode started, and then completely confused. I checked the channel to make sure I was on ABC. Then, mind, blown.

Now, it's just a mess. I'll of course watch every second of it, but the show is just not magic anymore.

People think there's a religious twist to this show ? Ha!

Have a look at the official Season 6 photo for it.

Do you remember during one of the Flashes, Jin hooked up with Russeau and the other 2 guys on the raft.

The one guy went down the hole and came back different.

Eventually they ended up on the beach and the "infected" guy killed the other one.

Did Russeau get the infection? I can't remember now.

They spent a pretty large quantity of time on the infection / pill scene, so it must be integral to something. I can't imagine they would waste that much time on something with so few episodes left.

Actually, there are no extra commercials. Lost is presented in 5 acts, whereas most other shows are presented in 4. So although it looks like there are more commercials, there really aren't. Each episode is 42 minutes long which is standard.

---------------

I can't quite figure it out, but I see a parallel between Rousseau and Claire. We haven't seen any evidence of either one of them coming into contact with anything that might "infect" them. However, with Rousseau, we did see evidence of people around her acting differently after going into the temple. So I'm wondering if Claire and Sayid are both "infected" with the same thing, or if one will try to kill the other.

And for that matter, are they really "infected"?

Kate/Claire/Aaron...

Was it just me, or does it seem like Kate is destined to raise Aaron? For that brief moment when Claire's HRM in the hospital went flat, I thought. "Woah! Is Kate destined to raise Aaron? Just funny that Kate and Claier met up in the "perfect" timeline.

Also, freeky that Claire called him Aaron "just without thinking".

Ya I've also noticed that in the flash sideways the losties seem to have this "do I remember you from somewhere" look on their faces at times.
