Judging by how Jacob was looking to find replacements to watch over the island, I really think Lost is going to end with Jack taking Jacobs place and Sawyer taking over for the MIB.

I think the MIB to leave the island has to have someone ( Sawyer) take his place, that is why he is trying to brainwash him.

Everyone will die on the island but Jack and Sawyer and that first scene of last years finale will be replayed but this time with Jack and Sawyer.

I guess everyone was underwhelmed by tonight's episode...... no one's commented......

I still think LAX Locke will call Jack. Either he'll pull out a card that's taped back together or he'll just hit redial on his phone.

I guess in the LAX reality, not even Ben was ever on the island. I didn't expect that.

How come no one found that ladder in all the time they've been on the island?

What's up with the elf kid is?

Surely is online now Report Post Edit/Delete Message <--- is this the new way to sign our comments?

Pretty much. I know now why the lottery numbers are so important. They represent the Oceanic 6 who traveled to the island 3 times. Twice by plane and once by 1300's Schooner.

They're all that's left from the shipwrecked Black Rock.

I'm guessing the original Jacob was the Captain and his nemesis was the original MIB. The Captains mate.

This is why FLocke had to hand off the island watch to Sawyer.

And you've jumped to this conclusion based on.......

I kind of get the feeling that the flash sideways is leading to the same end or interactions (of sorts) as the original timeline.

In the sideways:
  • Jack saves Charlie
  • Kate is present at the birth of Claire's baby.
  • Ethan and Claire interact
  • Locke is offered a consult by Jack. What if Jack heals Locke to where he can walk again, which would be a miracle (as they stated tonight), just as it was when he hit the island.
  • Ben and Locke interact
  • Christian is missing
  • ... and several more

Maybe the show will reveal that no matter what changes one makes, we are destined to meet certain people or play a part in certain scenarios. I don't know, it is late and I am having a hard time describing this. Who knows? I guess time will tell.

I do believe that the dead Jacobs ash that Ilana put in the sack is the same gray stuff that the people put around the shack and the temple to keep the smoke monster out.

I think Ilana put the ash in the sack because she's going to throw it into the bubbling spring in the temple to bring Jacob back to life.

I think that maybe that's where the ash is from, but I don't think that the ash that she put in the sack is the same as the usual ash that's there.

True but I don't think it's a coincidence that the ash Ilana uses looks just like the ash the others use. Perhaps it comes from all the dead people on the island.

Is there another way that ash looks? It's grey and sandy.......

I'm also not so sure about that being the source of the ash. The Others haven't ever seen Jacob, and I doubt that they would just walk into the statue to get the ash. I also doubt that Jacob bags it and sets it outside for them.

Anyone consider that the kid in last nights episode might somehow be Aaron? Kind of a long shot, and it doesn't really make sense, but it's worth throwing out there. Perhaps this kid is not Aaron, but is important to MIB somehow, and Aaron was the substitute for the kid in the new batch of survivors (assuming the events on the Island are cyclical).

Very interesting that Sawyer saw him too, but Richard seemingly did not.

I like this resolution, but I hope this isn't the case, because I want to be surpised by the ending.

The same thing every other Lost fan does. Wild speculation.:p

So Peace...after Frank and Sun buried Locke yesterday, are you convinced it is his body now and not just some guy that they don't recognize?

My first reaction was that it was a young version of Jacob time travelling.

I think you're right because the kid told MIB "You cant kill him" and MIB said "You can't tell me what to do". This follows the line that Jacob controls ( has in chains ) Smokey. and the fact that smokey can't kill unless attacked ?

FLocke told the kid ( young Jacob ) you cant tell me what to do because MIB thought he had freed himself from Jacob's chains. Thus allowing him to kill at will.
And Richard knew that. That's why he didn't want to go with MIB.

This theory also implies FLocke knew the kid was Jacob.

Yes I am now mstrze.

Can't be Aaron, since he left the island.

Very true, but we don't know the constraints of who can appear on the Island and who can't. I do agree that this is unlikely, but I still think there is some connection to Aaron.

Another question - did Flocke say 'don't tell me what I can't do!' because he is a reanimation of Locke and has retained some of his personality, or is this something that Flocke (MiB) has always said, perhaps because both him and real Locke have been put through similar experiences in their lives? (MiB can't leave the Island, the 'rules' dictate that).

I also thought that the kid that MiB and Sawyer saw was some manifestation of Jacob. It didn't occur to me that it might be Aaron, although that's another interesting theory.

The thing that I'm puzzling over is that scene in the cave, where MiB is showing Sawyer the names of the remaining candidates. We see "Shepard", "Jarrah", "Reyes", "Kwon", "Ford" and "Locke" (which the MiB then crosses out). The Oceanic 6 were Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sayid, Sun, and Aaron. So what I'm a little curious about is, was Kate not one of Jacob's candidates? We know he visited her as a kid. Why wasn't her name on the cave walls (or did MiB just fail to point it out to Sawyer)?

I was a bit confused by this as well. But I think last night proved that the O6 has no direct relation to the 6 numbers (although the names on the wall had the numbers associated to each name).

So, was the numbers radio broadcast (before Rouseau changed it) a message to the chosen few...calling them to the island in a way?

Did anyone notice any other familiar names from flight 815? One would assume that ones who were abducted from the 'tailie' camp were there since there was a list of those that the Others needed to take. Although, doesn't the unscratched names list more closely resemble Michael's list of names he was given in order for him to be granted his freedom to get off the island?

The only other two crossed-out names I saw/could read were Mattingly and O'Toole.

Yeah, right after my post I realized that bringing up the "Oceanic 6" was a bit of a distraction. The important thing is that we know that Jacob visited Kate off-island, and she would thus seem to be one of his candidates, so it's odd that her name didn't come up in that conversation.

I wasn't too let down by last night's episode, despite the fact that it didn't do a lot to advance the storyline. I think my favorite scene was the look on MiB's face when he realized that Sawyer knew he wasn't just "Locke" raised from the dead.
