I thought this episode was great!

I liked how Sawyer got con'd by Hurley. And we found out some stuff about the balck smoke. I also liked how saeed has already got juiliet in his sights.

Next week's looks like it could be good.
Keep hearing that. Still kinda waiting. Same as last week, not too bad of an episode, but we didn't really learn much new. Couple things, but it still feels like a filler, even when they do answer minor questions.

As with anything else, I fear the build up is more exciting than the payoff, but it's still occasionally enjoyable, so I still stick with it.

To be honest I thought that was incredible naff. You could literally see the producers/whoever deliberately trying to build that up, what with the music and glance. My conclusion to that? She's on their side now.
Although Sayeed is a very good judge of character, I think the writers are just going to play with us. And knowing them it'll last another 2 series.

I rather liked that episode! A huge step up from the completely uneventful previous episode. Glad to see the smoke monster back, does anyone else think that one of its sounds rings similar to an old dot matrix printer?

I thought it was a good episode overall.

Again, not much in the answer department, but hopefully we'll learn something with Juliet now on board.

I was a little confused about her knowing about the smoke monster, but not knowing what it was or where it came from. What the hell was the flashing? Was it taking pictures? Some kind of nano-tech gone bad?

Hurley got over on Sawyer pretty good. Drove the point home. We'll see what happens next week. Sawyer and Jack mixing it up now that Sawyer has had a taste of leadership?

Its interesting to a point, but these bizarre offshoots, especially with Locke and no real explanation to follow is certainly disappointing.

I can't see the show lasting another 2 seasons at this rate. Maybe if they start pushing out some answers they can salvage what little they have left.

Another sucky episode? Were we watching the same ep tonight?

You thought it was good? All I saw was people running around in the jungle and some people blah blah blahing on the beach. It didn't have any exciting moments and better yet, it didn't answer any previous questions.

Atleast last week's episode was different.

That sounds exactly like last weeks episode, minus the "running around in the jungle bits".

I thought it was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. It is interesting that the others don't know what the black smoke monster is, but oddly enough, it has a bad reaction to their security fences. Does anyone else suspect that the French woman, Rosseau, (sp?) knows a lot more about it than she has ever let on?

As for running through the jungle, well, I wouldn't mind a little run through the jungle with Dr. Julliette. :D

I have read on some various fan sites that next season will be the last.

It was unfortunate that the wrestling/struggle took place before the rain/mud...
I agree, it was another misstep by the writers... had they combined the mud and the wrestling around ratings would have improved. :D Damn them for taking the high ground on that one!

Right now I think Juliet is a total plant, she's been a plant from the very begining and this is just part of Ben's plan. So I'm glad Sayid is not giving Juliet any slack. BTW did anybody see her move when she ducked the pool cue Kate swung at her?? (Almost right out of the Seven Samurai) The ability to move like that would indicate she's had more than her share of combat training.

The shot of the Black Smoke was interesting, unlike humans (that could pass through the barrier, but suffer the consequences) the smoke couldn't pass through it. Juliet claims to know of it's existence, but not know a lot of details which is odd (if you believe her), because they seem to be getting there information on the Losties from some mysterious all-knowing source.

I guess I'll have to wait till the final episode to fiqure this all out. :(

I didn't like last nights episode much... at least compard to the last two or three. It is becoming too fake. Long live Season 1....

Screw Ben where is this "great man" we keep hearing about?

Again how did she get so tough. Her flashback gave no indication she was this tough. I guess 3 years on the island gives you crazy ninja skillz. Then again I was surprised Kate was able to take her down so easily when they where handcuffed together. That could have been more of her acting.
As for her counter attack through the door. I think all of the Others expect to be attacked when ever they check on their captives. They capture people so often it must just be instinct by now.

Yeah, it's smoke. Why doesn't it just go over the barrier? It lacks the intelligence to figure that out.

The all-knowing "great man"?

Standard Lost operating procedure: a lot of head scratching wtf moments. Then an amazing season finale with some answers. At least if they are following the season 2 model and not season 1.

Liked the episode. Loved that they brought back the black smoke/mechanical monster (missed it greatly as it was part of the mystery of the Island). Don't care anymore about peoples back-stories except for those still w/unanswered questions like Lock's wheelchair.

The writers have basically ruined the mystery of the island for me by focusing way to much on the soap opera of the characters.

I think that it was just too convenient that the Others left Jack and Juliet. And why chain up Kat/Juliet in the jungle but leave the Jack/Sayid at the houses?

I thought it was apparent that Juliet did that on her and Kate because she didn't want to be left behind.

No, she didn't unlock the handcuffs sooner because of that, but they both came to after being gassed, cuffed together.

Right?

Maybe but I assumed she did it to herself not just on the unlocking of the handcuffs but the fact that her and Kate were together when they got the village and she told Kate who was left and where. To me implies she woke up first and found out everyone left except for the 4 since she was gases as well when the Others left.

I think Hurley's con of Sawyer was out of character. Dude.

When Kate took the knife from supposedly-unconscious Juliet, I thought to myself "Did the writers think of something clever, or will they use the tired old Juliet-suddenly-grabs-Kate's-wrist script device?" Answer: script device. It was only a split-second scene, but sooooo predictable.

Why was Jack unconscious until just exactly when Kate arrived? Answer: No reason, just convenience for the writers. If Sayid was already up looking around the complex, why hadn't he already helped Jack?

Maybe the smoke could go up and over the fence, but is driven by instinct, not logic, or can't perceive it as a fence. So it's like a bird running into a window over and over.

I'm too lazy to read all the responses since I last posted, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned:

Clearly the con-woman who helped Kate was conned by Sawyer.

I assumed that Sayid was still handcuffed to the swing set and Juliette had to go unlock him. Either that or he was hit by the same gas that Jack was which was evidently more potent than what they used on the females. With the smaller body mass you'd think the women would have been knocked out longer than the guys...

Of course that doesn't take into account the fact that men are just plain lazy and will use any excuse to get some extra sleep.

IIRC, when Kate first went into Jack's "home," there was more than one canister of gas, whereas with Kate, the camera only showed one. I think.

Well, obiously. I'll check seaon 2 DVD and see if its the same chick.

Oh yeah, that's probably true. Which means he wouldn't have had time to check out the entire compound and everything in it, in the few minutes that Kate was with Jack. So it's still fishy.

But maybe this is just a TV show, and not a reality show as I was assuming.

Juliette only said to Kate "Sayid's in one of the back yards" or something to that effect. I would guess she knew exactly where he was, and just didn't want Kate to know she was that involved in what was going on.
