And Sawyer has a kid  ... or will have soon enough.

I thought the backstory was quite clever in that they showed Sawyer as a more respectable character. He has a child on the way (not that he knows) and with the whole leadership bit at the end of the episode, sort of fits together really.

But the preview for ep 16. Anyone else think the "I want to know everything" bit will be conveniently slap bang at the end of the episode?

did anyone catch the numbers Juliet entered into the fences security :)

Yeah, the Sawyer thing was pretty obvious, at least I just assumed it was. I laughed about the baby, as he looked so uncomfortable holding Claires baby.

Hurley has had a change of character ever since the Mini-Van episode. It seems like most of the characters are going through a transformation.

Hurley, Charlie, Jin to some extent, now Sawyer. I think even Kate has been slowly evolving as well. Locke is just off the wall, I don't really know what the hell is going on in that boys head... Even Jack, who was more comfortable being led than having to lead. He fit right in with the others.

I guess all the things that survival and dependence on the community bring out in a person.

What happened to Lockes father (who came out of the magic box)? No mention of him again...

And Sawyer has a kid  ... or will have soon enough.

We knew this last season, if not the season before. The story line went through and we saw Sawyer set up a trust fund for the kid using some money he had obtained in a con. I think it might have even been the money he conned from the mother.

I can just see him trying to explain that to his kid, "Look sweetie, I conned your mom out of your inheritance before she had a chance to waste it on booze and gambling...."

^ I totally forgot about that  I suppose thats what you get for cramming in Series 1 in 7 days (from a guy who spends about 2 hours a week watching TV).

and double ^
Jack and Locke are really going through some kind of character change. I dont think there was a moment in this episode where Jack didn't look Others-style sinister.

And thinking about it... Jack likes Juliette. leaving her behind with Jack would be an easy ticket to get her into (Sawyers now?) camp. Obviously some people in the camp aren't going to like that, potentially creating a rift between them?

I assumed that Sayid was still handcuffed to the swing set and Juliette had to go unlock him. Either that or he was hit by the same gas that Jack was which was evidently more potent than what they used on the females. With the smaller body mass you'd think the women would have been knocked out longer than the guys...
Maybe, besides getting more of it, they hit him with some before they left, long after taking Juliet out. If they even did. She could be making some of it up. Don't know what and how much, but we already know and she's admitted to being less innocent than she acted.

Of course that doesn't take into account the fact that men are just plain lazy and will use any excuse to get some extra sleep.
Wouldn't you be sleepy if you were Jack or Sayid? :p Bet neither of them have had a good nights sleep lately. We know Kate has. ;)

Well Im a big fan of lost but new to this thread. I have watched the past 3 series up to "left behind" in the last 2 weeks! I have been watching every night and am thoroughly hooked. Season 3 isnt as good for me as was the beginning of Season 2 and its almost as though its a drama in a normal place rather than an "uninhabited" island. I believe there are too many unanswered questions at the moment and having the little parties (the beach crew/the Others + Kate, Jack etc. . . in the jungle) of people is becoming quite hard to follow.

Dont get me wrong though I am still hooked and still finish every episode waiting and wanting more!

I think its great I have found a website that combines my two current favourite things! Lost and Apple!

Im just waiting for the Steve Jobs guest apperance.
"If the Dharma Initiative had been using 0SX they could have set automator to input the numbers every 108 minutes. That way everyone would be fine!

I had a little idea crop into my head whilst on my adventures...

What if Locke's father is this "great man"? Ben said they wanted Locke back when he was in the hatch. Mr. Locke said no, Ben goes off. Ho hum. Juliet said that Ben plays mind games to get what he wants, finds out what they're interested in and extorts it. Low and behold, Lockes father turns up in that room. Ben gets Locke. Ben makes up the "wish box" story to get Locke to stay.

Sorry if this was worded wrong or whatever. Just got back from a huge run over the moors and I'm physically and mentally exhausted. sleeeep James.

My wife saw a photo of Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) on the side of a bus and thought it was an ad for Lost. Turns out it was an ad for The Gap, and he was their model.

I wonder if Jorge Garcia (Hurley) has been getting these offers too.

Not unless there's a store named Chasm. Ba dum dum. I'll get my coat...

Edit: So the others don't have cancer? Are they supposed to?
They're not supposed to be able to get it. Something on the island is supposed to stop it. Rose was cured. Locke was cured. Juliet's sister was. Ben wasn't.

Edit2: Seems she should be more pissed. They killed all of her freinds.
Ethan screwed up. Goodwin screwed up too, but his killer (Ana Lucia) is dead. Sun killed whatshername because she was scared, Juliet probably doesn't even know or care about the details. She wound up killing that woman's crazed bf (or husband, or whatever) herself anyway.

That, and by the end, (*spoilers*) she might still be getting something of a revenge.

Edtit3: Ben,"See you at the finale."
Thought he said, "next week".

All in all, a pretty good episode IMO. Questions answered, surprises that are actually surprises (of course, some of us kinda called it up above), and a not so sucky flashback. At least they're getting somewhere with the story.

Thank you Lost!! An episode with answers! I got respect back for the show, now that something is actually happening. Great ep.

Thought he said, "next week".
He did, but that could mean 5 episodes in LOST time.

Very good episode! Even though we learned Ben's motivations/scheme in the last flashback, we still don't know where Juliet's loyalties lie. She's a complex one...

Boy, will Jack look like a schmuck for trusting her if he's wrong.

And thank you Sayid for finally asking her "Why are you torturing us?"

So Juliet is a plant and Jack is just a guy with a fatal fall in love too quickly syndrome.

Its nice to see a little background on the Others and some of what they are up to. Ben is starting to seem pretty insane, sacrificing the women of the island to overcome the pregnancy issues. He really likes his little Island in the sun...

So now the Island gives life to the hopeless, just not new life?

Overall a good episode, I'm actually looking forward to the rest of the season now!

Makes me wonder just how old Ben actually is. He looks 40. What if he is 400 and came to the island on the black rock.

I really want to see an episode with Rousseau flashbacks.

The surprise twist at the end could be that he never trusted her and he is playing her. Although you think he would have let some else in on it... off screen.

Have you been watching the same show I have?

I used to make that assumption when early on people would complain about the Losties not sharing information. Now I'm pretty sure that none of them really trusts anyone else, it's been more obvious in recent episodes that no-one shares information on the island, possibly because no one really knows who is an Other, possibly because they are all morons.

So it's entirely possible that Jack is playing Juliette, it's also possible that Jack is and always has been one of the others (maybe since his divorce) and maybe he actually caused the crash of flight 815. After last night's episode I fully expect the Others to have a more active role in the crash of flight 815. It's awfully convenient that shortly after Ben is diagnosed with a tumor on his spine one of the best back surgeons happens to crash on the island.

that was the most Lost-like Lost in a while. finally a good show this season!

i noticed that the teaser for next week said "the beginning of the end" - are they signed on to do another season next year? i hope not - i want this series to be over already and some questions really answered. it would be nice if we only have 5 more episodes to go.

are they signed on to do another season next year?
Heh, I know what you mean, Shecky, but they did renew for a 4th season on March 21.

Juliette certainly gives Jack a big old clue when she tells him that she truly is on her own. I would dig the "Jack is really an other" theory if we weren't privy to so much one-on-one Jack/Juliette, especially back in the holding cell. That wouldn't have needed to happen if they were on the same side; the others don't need to "act" in each other's presence.

So I want to know now: do women knowingly get pregnant on this island, with full knowledge that it's a death sentence, or is Ben/The Great Man implanting pregnancies in them, using them as guinea pigs? And if Ben has lived his whole life on the island (which I don't buy), then his daughter was born here. Do we know the Rousseau backstory yet? I'd love to see her flashbacks too.

Ben's daughter is Rousseau's daughter who was kidnapped as a baby. I doubt Ben is the biological father, although it would make it interesting if Rousseau is actually and Other but given that Alex never mentions her mother I'm guessing Alex doesn't know about Rousseau.

I'm also guessing that the pregnancy thing is a recent development (Juliette has been there 3 years? Alex is like 16? It's possible that this was not happening when Rousseau ended up on the island. Wasn't Alex born on the island?

Of course didn't Juliette mention that whatever keeps killing the pregnant women happens early in the pregnancy? Maybe the fact that Claire (and Rousseau) was far along in her pregnancy when she ended up on the island is what allowed them to have the baby without getting sick...

Now that was excellent! Not much to say really, I just hope the rest of series 3 is like this.

She sounded quite convincing too! Another con-person on the island it seems.

Cancers, babies, liars, magnets, good/bad people...

What about time passing? I thought time passed at a different speed to the real world. Yet the off-island camera showing Juliets sister with the same date? hmm.
