The show has a lot to do with fathers as well.

Jack's was picking up his dead fathers casket in Australia
Locke's "father" stole his kidney
Sawyer has father issues (someone else can elaborate, I cant remember)
The Blonde's (whats her name?)father died on Jacks operating table
The Hobbitt dood is like a father to the baby on the island
Walt + his dad
Jin + his father in law

Im sure there's more...

When did it come out that Shannon's Father died on Jack's table? We he the guy who Jack let die to save his future wife?

Charlie is surrogate father to Claire's baby.

That's the hobbit dude.

I liked the reference to the Outsiders in this episode. I wonder if Hurley does actually speak Korean and was he the one who was supposed to get the watch from Jin?

I thought it was amusing that they were picking over drive shaft CD's in the record store. I also wonder what ever happened to girl that he asked out.

The people from the tail section look to have been almost wiped out by the others. Kidnapped or killed who is to say. I guess we find out next week.

Plot development is moving at a snail's pace. I give this series 2 more shows before I give up on it for a end of season DVD recap.

Yes, Shannon's Father was the man that Jack let die to save his wife.

We don't know for sure that it was the Others that wiped out the people in the back of the plane. There is still the fact that there is some sort of disease that many people on the island had in the past, Desmond and Rouseau make reference to it a few times.

Yeah, this episode was much slower than the last, although it was nice to get some Hurley info.
The only new mystery for me is what the other "bunker" was for, what happened to the rest of the 23 from the tail section, and what's behind the titanium...
I'd like to be able to wait for a season recap, but I don't think there's any way I could wait that long.
It'd be cool if they put special features into the ipod version, like extra scenes or something...

edit: on second thought, could it be '2 FEB 06' ?

I am almost positive that it is 2 FEB 06 and not 2FEN06. I actually took the screen grab and zoomed it in. I then compared this to the LCD font I have. In the LCD font the slant on the N is in the upper half of the letter. In the secret message it is not. It is more a straight line in the middle. This leads me to believe it is either the letter R or the letter B. At first I thought it might be the date of the season finale but Feb 02 2006 is a Tuesday not a Wednesday... Do I have too much time on my hands??

BTW Bottom image is a close up of the letters N and B from the LCD font family

Just my opinion, but I think because the tail-section survivors were hiding from what was implied as The Others (in the preview for next week's episode), some, if not all of the missing tail-section survivors were killed off by The Others.

One correction though... what was in Desmond's bunker wasn't behind titanium. It was concrete, and what Sayed was using to chip away at it was a piece of bulkhead or support beam made out of titanium. That's why when he's banging away and Jack comes up to show Sayed how his key is attracted by whatever is behind the concrete wall(s), Sayed says something to the effect "Good thing this is made out of titanium, low magnetism"... then kind of motions with the piece of metal he was using.

Also, later when they are underneath the concrete room, Jack asks Sayed what he thinks is inside... and Sayed replies saying something like "The last I heard about anything being inside so much concrete was Chernobyl."

Also, I thought it was interesting that this was the first episode where Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was credited as an actor on the show, when he was shown fairly prominently in the last two. Link to his imdb profile:

The C-Store clerk

OK, Is anyone else surprised by the fact that the C-store clerk remembers the guy that purchased the ticket. Take into consideration that this was (According to the show) one of the largests jackpots ever. When lottery jackpots get that high it tends to start a 'Feeding Frenzy' at the lottery retailers. I know with the powerball here in the midwest being > 200 million I have to wait in line behind 10 people buying tickets just to pay for my gas and soda. Using that logic I am sure that the clerk sold several hundred tickets over the course of the 3-5 days, most of those quick picks. IMHO the odds of him remember the "One golden ticket" are almost as high as winning the lottery in the first place.

Just my 2 Cents worth

That's the first thing I said to my wife. There's no way he would have known who bought the winning ticket, unless Hurley somehow went there before to check on the "cash-in" process or something, but that's unlikely.

As for 2FEB06 vs. 2FENO6, the Flash tools definitively show it as 2FENO6, with an "O" not a zero, which doesn't seem to make immediate sense.

Maybe the tail section resorted to cannibalism to survive.

As for Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, once I realized who it was, I wondered if Harold Perrineau Jr. (who plays Mike) got him the job. If you remember, they were both inmates on HBO's "Oz".

They're definitely getting power from natural hot springs, since Kate mentioned that the water smelled of sulfur. Anyone who has been to Iceland will know that it's weird taking a shower in water heated by a geothermal spring.

Cool episode. Nice to see Rose back, level headed as always. Though as usual, the episode asked more of us then it revealed. The creators and writers sure do have a good formula for generating water-cooler buzz/discussions.

I can offer an explanation.

Once they figure out which machine printed the winning ticket they can figure out when the ticket was sold. It's entirely possible that they reviewed the security footage for that time to see who the winner was. Hurley would be pretty distinctive on the tape and once the clerk saw the body shape he might have remembered exactly who Hurley was.

if you go to a secure version of the hanso site( https) you find this:
bigspaceship1.com
go to the site here
and see the polar bears.

does that look like morse code at the top of the page? it also shows up in your safari history page.

edit: it is morse code. pretty funny.

How odd. Now the morse code reads.

.-. .... --- -.-. --- .-.. .- - . / .- ... -.-. .-.. . .--. .. ..- ...

Which unless my morse is way rustier than I thought, translates to

Inviso Text: rhocslate/asclepius

Even trying to anagram search this one I get nothing, Any ideas?

Yeah I got a flash editor and now see the same thing... And I thought I was on a good track. Oh well. back to the drawing board.

Is that Photoshopped, or am I gonna have to dig out my Lost DVDs to make sure that logo was REALLY there?

according to the person i swiped it from, they went back and checked with their first season's dvd...and sure enough-it's there.

just one of those things you don't notice the first time kinda like all those small flying grimlins in the pilot episode....swooping in and making things blow-up.

notice anything interesting on the fuselage?
Ahh I see it. The shadows look like a pair of arms reaching into the air, perhaps to grab an unsuspecting victim? Scary. They may be 'the others'.

Nice find. This has been talked about a bunch on lost-tv.com , and I personally agree with the view that it's not the logo. There's a picture of the plane somewhere that ABC bought for the show, and it's got reinforcing metal plates around the doors that look alot like this... let me see if i can find it.

EDIT: Here we go.

Are you serious? I never noticed that, and I watched the Pilot 3-4 times.

Lacero, what are you taking about? There is a Dharma like logo on the plane, where are you seeing arms?

I don't know... how old are you?

just making reference to this:
@clayj & 3rdPath:

You guys are not serious, right? Two adult men chiming in with teenagers who compare penis sizes? How childish is that!?!?! looks really like a low self-esteem.

cause i'm just posting here to build my over-the-hill self esteem ya know...

regarding the logo-how come it's not by an airplane door?

anybody is keeping tags on the morse code titles?

I only saw the polar bears one and now the bunny one. anything hidden in this picture? my googling only made me find that the song (want a danish) is by van morrison, 1968 (!), edit:now the sound appears to be something like the soundtrack of a bugs bunny cartoon:confused:
also, the bunny title translates to rhocolate/asclepius which doesn't make much sense other than that rhocolate could be 'chocolate' misspelled, and in the bear's one there was also a misspelling (pear instead of bear).
any thought? is there a mistake in every title?

also, check out thedharmainitiative.info
