You all have been swindled into watching 2 years worth of commercials.
There were two multi-minute commercial breaks within the first 10 minutes! It was like the last half hour of Saturday Night Live, when there are more commercials than show.

They seem to be raking in all the money they can get based on the show's popularity. It got less popular in my house tonight.

I forgot the storyline. What happened in the last episode?
In case you missed the first part, a whole bunch of stuff. Actually the last episode was mostly about Kate's past, for those with bad memories. Normally I'm glad I stay away from this thread until I watch the latest ep, but so far pretty spoiler free. So... what was with that thing? You know what I'm talking about. What up with that?

HELP I missed what looked to be an important scene on tonights new episode. Early on, there was a scene which ends with Locke and Michael and Locke saying "why are you here michael?" Michael has a blank look on his face. So what did michael and Locke talk about?
Locke was changing the combination to the safe with the guns when Michael came up. Locke said he wanted to limit access to the weapons and then asked Michael why he was there.

As for the episode, I thought it was a pretty good one. Interesting tie-in to Mr. Eko - I wonder where that will take us. Although I'm happy getting all this background information on the characters, it would be nice if something actually happened once in awhile.

I liked the Mr. Eko background. I wasn't really sure if he was a preiest or a bad@ss leading up to this episode, looks like he was/is both.

This is the best episode by far of the new season!

Some pretty deep religious $#i† man, pretty deep. I actually cried for Eko during several parts in the show. He's my new favorite character! Love the background on him, his relationship with his brother and how he became a priest. "Are you all right, Father?"

Good stuff!

Anybody catch the images inside the black cloud? Scared the begeebies out of me!

Here's to the Crazy Ones

I just wanted to point out that the first "episode" last night was just splicing bits and pieces of previous shows to catch us up to the current episode. This is similar to Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy where they aired a review show, then a new episode the following week.

I really enjoyed last nights episode... you really understand where the goodness of Mr. Ecko comes from. It's pretty trippy that he got tied into the island through the plane and the drugs and "priests".

Agree, great episode.

For anyone interested, this is a link to some screencaps of what was in the black smoke. If you don't want any other spoilers/speculation please be sure to not browse the rest of the site. :)

Nice episode. Fine with no ads. :)

So where must Michael go... :p

Thanks for the link - interesting pictures; I didn't catch that the first time around.

And I forgot about the "beat me with your Jesus stick" comment from Charlie. Classic.

Ooooh good link. Thanks! I had completely forgotten about that forum.

I figured that there was something along those lines in the imagery, but it went too fast for me to tell.

Very tricky!

The meta-message was that Michael wants guns, and we don't yet know what he has in mind other than that. It was clear from later scenes that he talked Locke into training him, but not clear if Locke knows what he's going to do after that.

Walt (using iChat pre-AV) told Michael to do something (presumably in order to come rescue him), but they teased us by showing us only part of the message. Presumably, Michael is following those instructions, and keeping it a secret from the other Lostees.

Of course, we think Walt gave him those instructions. Might it have been The Others, posing as Walt, coercing him, or tricking him into giving his dad a message?

was the question on how a small plane could have made it from Nigeria to the pacific ever raised? are there speculations on how that could be even remotely possible ? what's the range of those planes? does this point to them not being in the pacific at all and supports a planted crash? how did mr. eko know that the small plane was on the island? and howw did he manage to 'infiltrate' the survivors' group?

1) The mother of the baby described the statute, and then he saw it.

2) I didn't infilitrate it, he was on the Oceanic Air flight that crashed.

He saw Charlie's statue and recognized it as one from the church in Nigeria. Once he smashed one open and confirmed the contents, he knew it was one of those from the plane. So either the plane was on the island or one of its statues made it to the island some other way (e.g., by a "customer" who purchased one). He assumed the former.

We don't know yet what happened to Mr. Eko in the days/weeks after the plane took off, but presumably he knew that the plane didn't return. All the more reason he'd assume that it had crashed.

That was one of my first thoughts last night when I watched the episode. I suppose the plane could have made several hops, but that seems counter to it's original mission.

As for how he knew about it - one thing that's a little strange, if I recall correctly, is that Claire simply said that Charlie was carrying around a statue of the Virgin Mary. She didn't say he found it on the island, and even if she did, why would Eko assume it was one of "his" statues? As soon as she mentioned the statue, he demanded to see it. Why?

Charlie said to Eko that he couldn't have flown a plane from Nigeria to the South Pacific. There was never any answer. :p

my impression was that eko seemed to already know that the plane was on the island, and he was out to look for his brother.

It is possible that the period on the island had 'prepared' him to expect weird stuff, but i think to 'know' that it was 'his' statue at first mention, in a place that is supposedly 10 times farther away than the max range of the plane is too much of a stretch IMO, unless of course the island is NOT in the south pacific.
the 'hopping plane' theory is not convincing either, because to get from nigeria to the pacific the plane would have had to make at least a dozen stops in various countries with no flight plan or documents, a cargo of drugs and a dead priest aboard.

I didn't read any previous posts in this thread to avoid spoilers, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows why the newest episode (23rd Psalm) is not in iTunes. I rarely get to watch Lost when it is broadcast, so I mostly rely on buying it on iTMS on Thursdays. For some reason though, the newest episode is not available :(.

I was just going to ask... I'm looking to download it myself.

Grab the torrent, the .avi's you'll find online are better quality and widescreen. As I understand it's in a gray area of the law, so it isn't illegal.

Edit:: 68010; cool.

Wish how I knew how to get a torrent going. I've never been able to figure it out.

It was a really cool episode, good to see some flashbacks of new characters....

And i know its not on the right side of the Law but i agree with torrenting the episodes the quality is perfect and widescreen....Besides its the only way for us outside the USA to watch the latest and greatest...
