Has anyone calculated how many commercials a fan has had to sit through watching this endless loop of an endless drama? Just curious.

Heh, so there is an official Lost thread; I was just about to make another one.

Anyway, from the brief glimpse of the map that we were shown my guess is that there are many other hatches around the island, and that they all somehow lead to something in the middle. What's in the center? Perhaps an electromagnetic generator or magnetic field of some sort that could account for the strange invisible monsters.

But what really confuses me is where that Project Dharma package came from, and how it arrived so promptly (assuming it was triggered by the doors shutting and countdown over the loud-speaker). Regardless, I'm thoroughly confused.:)

That crap really pisses me off... I ****ing hate commercials.  You get 8 minutes of the show and then have to sit through 4 minutes of commercials, which seems like eternity.

Everything is connected

It's probably the writer's diagram of the plot threads.:D
Okay, this is the 3rd Lock flashback and we still don't know how he wound up in that wheel chair. The next Lock flashback has got to be it.
The Dharma experament is still active! They really aren't alone. Lock's father is a con man! This can't be a coincidence.

What are these commercials you speak of? Mmmmmmm DVR. :) It's weird how after skipping commercials and blocking internet popups that going to a friends and experiencing them freaks me out.

Anyway....

I was thinking that the drawing, which seemed to have a center and multiple outlying points, could represent different hatches with a central hatch... maybe. We'll probably never know until season 6 anyway... :p

all i have to say

is that was the sweetest ending to an episode EVER. Everyone in the room i was watching in started yelling as the "lost" came up.

in Locke's flashback, was the woman with no husband whose house he inspected Sayid's (sp?) woman from Iraq? Looked kinda like her, but it's been a while since I saw her...

Hmmm. And he'd probably be about the right age to con Sawer's parents when Sawyer was a kid....

I did notice that on the diagram on the hatch the lowest "hatch" had the swan symbol, and one on the left had the symbol that looks like a boat from when the timer runs out out. We so need an HDTV so I can see this stuff clearer.

Good call!

I agree with others that it was a map of all of the other hatches leading to a central hatch marked with a big ? The show is addicting and my wife thinks "I'm retarded for watching such a ridiculous show" but it is fun.

And I think that last night was the first time that I got super annoyed with the commercials. ABC is riding that cash cow all the way to season 15.

Hopefully they've figured out that audiences don't usually stick with a show past 7 or 8 seasons. There is a reason I gave up on the wheel of time series and I had a lot more time and emotion invested in that.

Semi on that thread I hate the NBC moved Law and Order to be across from Lost.

That's an interesting thought - wouldn't surprise me that they'd add that connection to the group.

Also, I noticed that as Locke went to the motel to meet his father an Oceanic Air flight was landing.

Overall, a pretty good episode, although like some others I keep wondering when we'll find out how Locke became paralyzed - I started to think maybe he was going to be beat up by those guys after his father.

One date, labeled "suspected shutdown date" is from 1984 (10.28.84). Whatever the project is, it's been going on for a long time!

Three other dates, labeled "Complete Shutdown in Effect", are shown as 4.08.00, 8.15.01, 01.06.06. The sequence starts out with the numbers 4 8 15 but doesn't continue with the rest of "the numbers". 42 can't be a month or day number, so perhaps we have to wait until 2042.

Did you notice this one? "P.R.D. (periodic ration drop), every 6-8 months. Fatalities: 5.

So there must be a way to initiate "lockdown" manually. The drawing on the door only appears in the black-light (or whatever that was) which lasted for only a couple of minutes. Regardless, the entire lockdown only lasted a matter of, what, an hour or so? It seems a little odd that whoever drew that map quickly whipped it together while the door happened to be down for a food drop every 8 months. Why would they choose the door anyway?

Also, it looks like there are 2, maybe 3, distinct writing styles on the door, which perhaps indicates a "changing of the guard." However, the cursive Latin writing almost seems to be worthless - or, at least, not real descriptive - and may have gone on after the initial rendering of the map.

I like the reference to ursus maritimus and the "deterritorization" or whatever. That's the polar bear.

Yep, it sure looks like there's at least 2 writing styles present... one that uses script, the other that uses all capitalized letters. Also seems like you can infer that the person who wrote in capitals wrote out the station names and possibly drew out the map originally.

Yup - As soon as I saw those two guys, I thought 'this is how Locke gets paralyzed.' But I guess not...

His father is such a b@stard though. I was mad that he gave him the money. I felt that he never should have gone to the bank; or at least kept it all for himself. Wasn't he about to say why he went to the motel (wasn't for the money) when his girlfriend showed up? I wonder what he was going to say...

I spotted an even older date: "Site of H.G. Delegation Inspection 12.07.81".

What does everyone think about Henry now?

I thought it was pretty cool how they dug the grave up to make sure. And clearly it was a wise decision.

He made Locke promise to protect him, so I wonder if John will get caught between Henry & the rest of the gang somehow?

Locke's girlfriend left him because he lied to her. Will John have the same reaction to Henry for lying to him, or take the opposite approach?

Also, after the ending where we learned that Henry really isn't who he seemed, I think Henry knows more about the project than he wants people to think. He memorized the numbers so quick it was like he already knew them. And I think he made the blast doors raise, like by entering a code he knew into the computer or something.

I am pretty sure the lockdown occured just long enough for the food drop.. The real question is whether it was placed there by the others with a parachute or if it was really dropped from a plane.

I don't think this will be a problem. Locke's last question before he gave his word was "Who are you?" to which Henry replied with "Henry Gale, blah, blah." I could see Locke using this as his out, he swore to defend Henry Gale, since we know that he is not Henry Gale I don't think Locke will feel any obligation to provide protection. However I am usually wrong.

I would think it had to have been dragged. If there had been a plane I doubt all 40+ survivors would have missed the only plane to fly over the island in 2 months.

Damn. :)

Well, that episode was pretty great. Does anyone have the preview for next week (a video)? What happened in it?
