Well, crap, I missed it. Does anyone know how long it will be before this episode is available at iTMS? (It's not there yet).
Should be there by mid-day I'd think. What are you doing reading here if you haven't watched? :p

Overall, I liked the episode. I liked the twist at the end, and next week's episode looks like a good one.

Not much of a twist really.

Who believes what Henry told Locke as well?

I figure AL will eventually get to the point of wanting to shoot Henry herself. She missed a great mutt and jeff opportunity there where she could have gotten real information.

Actually, I caught the very end, which was a bad thing for me to have done. So I already know the surprise ending.

I checked iTMS this morning and they do not yet have last week's episode ("Lockdown") either, so there's apparently some delay there. It would be cool if ABC re-runs this episode on Saturday like they did with last week's...

It would be a total cop-out if the whole show was a bad case of Bobby Ewing Syndrome. :( But I doubt that will in fact be the case.

And did he really NOT push the button or was he lying about that?

Well I just checked and they are both there.

I think he was playing Tetris.

I think Henry is telling the truth about not pressing the button, the whole hatch thing is a joke, just a giant skinner box to test if people can be convinced/conditioned to press a button all the time without actually knowing the consequences.

what is becoming more and more intriguing is who this "him" or "he" is, and also the mention that god doesn't see this island was also a nice throw-in.
I'm secretly hoping that the "him" is the shark with the logo and he emerges from the ocean and talks to Jin while fishing one day

Doesn't relate to a specific episode, and I could have said this 6 months ago when I saw my first episode. But the title music rings a bell to me.

When I was a kid and I woke up from a nightmare, I'd hear that mini crescendo of seemingly tuneless notes that they play in the title sequence. Is it crescendo? 3 notes going up and down? Anyways. same sound. Maybe the whole series relates to nightmares?

Hurleys food nightmare.
Locke just finding out the hatch is a joke (something he believed in being fake, his nightmare perhaps?)
Sawyer getting beaten.

I like the way a certain sound precedes the start of a flashback, so you know you are going back in time. It's a good part of the show's "user interface".

Anyone else notice the vanishing painting?

Just looks like part of the painting of a desert island is sort of blocked out.

EDIT: yes it is a little hard to see :) I can't see it well on my Dell monitor but the PB screen is fine *shrugs*

I'm seeing the island in both shots, but it certainly is a desert island, and certainly was purposefully placed.

I think the blocked out look is something to do with the lighting...but the photo's existence itself is what is more interesting.

Now, is it just a little easter egg, or something the show makers put in to actually give a hint.

I'd lean towards the latter, because everything about the show seems very calculated to me.

I had to wait for forever to check this thread out because I never saw any of the episodes in real time until... the last two episodes. (I had no clue there was such a devoted following online and whatnot! Craziness.)

I think that painting is just to poke fun. But you're right, OutThere, things have to be well thought out because everything we see is an actual prop of a sort. It didn't just show up on the set, ya know?

I'm just so bummed about Libby. I really wanted somebody to be 'normal' and a non-liar. They're all liars, dangit!

I can send it to you. PM me your AIM.

Based on what Henry said, is the island perhaps hell or something like that? Or was the God not seeing more a comment on how awful and pagan it is?

I dont think its "all in Hurleys head' beacuse then it would suck. Jack saw a guy from his past life on the island in the beginning of the season so theres something going on but its not Hurley's fabrication.

how does that prove anything?

but anyways, on to my point. why would hurley jump anyway? its like the dude in the matrix "ignorance is bliss"... if he feels free and enjoys himself on the island, or even if he does more than the wacky shack, why would he go back? its like having a dream and not wanting it to end. perfectly standard, imho

she says she didn't know where hurley had seen her before. that may be the truth, and she just forgot, but i doubt it.

Well, she didn't seem to "with it" at that point of his flashback.. so I doubt that she actually knows that she has met him, if she ever actually did. It will be interesting to see her flashbacks to see why she was in the psych hospital.

Was it ever completely explained what happened with Hurley? He was talking about a pier, and how two people died... but did it say who died? Wonder if it's anyone related to anyone else on the island, and if they're just waiting to tie that in.

It proves that seeing people on the island from your life is not unique. Could this not all be in Jacks head as well? Its not but the big fact supporting the case for Hurley is the same for Jack.

Libby seemed comfortably numb, bordering on Tommy numb. I really don't think she would have clearly remembered Hurley or been able to put the two of them together.

Hurley walked out onto a deck at a party. The deck was built to support 8 people. There were 23. I think he mentioned that it was an uncle who died.

well the difference is that dave never did exist in hurleys life before the island, actually. i think the reason he was able to talk to dave and jack couldnt was because he was able to in his past ( and it was still a hallucination). i think that the island is only as real as the people on it believe it to be, otherwise, who knows? the point is that nobody knows, so enjoy the show on whatever level it actually is on.

I think this is all a "Bobby Ewing Syndrome" as a poster said before.

My guess is this is all in the head of the crazy guy who keeps repeating the number sequence at the mental hospital.....

Could be he was the sole survivor of a plane crash himself or someone he loved was killed in a plane crash and this is what made him go over board. All the characters on the island were perhaps people he knew. Perhaps he was part of a party that was all killed in a plane crash and they are all now living in his memory on the island.

As a result he could now be part of an experimental treatment. The numbers he keep repeating could be his medication regimin similar to that of a rabies treatment where you take injections on days 0,3,7,14 and 28.

Perhaps my life is one big BES?
