You're all ignoring the best part. The healing nature of the island is interesting and all, but the best part of the flashback was when Bernard asked Rose to marry him and she told him she was sick. I admit, I teared up a little when he said you haven't answered my question. Sniff.

So now we know that Rose knew that Locke was cured by the island (because she saw him in his wheelchair before the flight and walking around after the crash), and we now know why she sat by herself for days, seeming so peaceful, after they crashed. She was feeling her cure, not pining for Bernard.

I think Bernard should still finish his SOS sign and help the rest of the Losties get rescued. Then he can stay on the island with Rose and practice dentistry until he reaches retirement age.

I believe he told us how long it's been since the crash: 7 weeks.

But why did Sawyer say "Pasadena" when Bernard asked him if he would help haul rocks?

The Numbers: If they're not entered, it appears the hatch makes some funky noises, the heiroglyphics appear, and sometimes blacklights turn on.

That's about it. Yet I continue to watch...

Not so.

I believe Faux Henry DID enter the numbers (or at least SOME numbers). Remember, in this past episode when Locke asked if he really did enter the numbers he had an evil grin on his face. Evil grin = he hopes to hell Locke believes him and lets the counter count down.

Except that all of that started before the numbers had to be pressed. Locke was investigating the static-y speakers, then the doors came down (trapping Locke).

The only thing that maybe happens if the numbers aren't entered are the black lights, since that happened when Henry was supposedly pushing the button.

In addition to Locke and Rose being 'healed' by the island, don't forget that Jin was also healed, as he was able to conceive with Sun.

Normally I'd answer that question, but today I think I'll take a pasadena.

;)

How do we know Sun wasn't knocked up when she was kidnapped from her garden?

I'm still not sure whether Henry did enter the numbers or not. If he did, then he let the counter run down past zero, as he knew about the red hieroglyphics. So either he did let the numbers run down, or one of the others has been in that situation.

...or he overheard someone else in the hatch talking.

Yeah, that was a great scene. I had a colleague who dated a woman for a few months and hit if off similarly. They were engaged and quickly married. The following week she told him that she was a terminal cancer patient, had been for a couple of years, and she and her family kept it from him during their dating.

I can't begin to describe the emotional roller coaster my colleague was on for the next 18 months until she died, and long afterwards.
