We went to Apple tonight to check out the Rose Gold in person. My daughter, who is 13, said it was way to pink and she didn't like it. She preferred the SG! This is a girl we wait 30 minutes for so she can "get ready" just to go to Walmart. LOL If a 13 year old girl says it's pink, it's pink!
My hypothesis (supported by the reactions from my sister and mother) is that women will actually be less likely than men to like the color. In a roundabout way, we've come full circle with pink (that sounds redundant :D). Pink used to be a masculine color until the 1940s. Nowadays since it is so stereotypically feminine many women don't like it, while some men like to flaunt wearing pink.

It picks up light in many different ways. The finish changes the reflection. I didn't like it first because of the white face making the bezel too large. Couldn't imagine having gone with anything other than rose gold after seeing it though. Definitely floats from a pinkish hue to copper. It's more the finish and not really being rose gold that were used to in jewelry (polished), which is much deeper. This is more rosé.

And for you immature children who are saying it's gay or for chicks...1) you should work on your self esteem, 2) if you were a man secure in your sexuality, you wouldn't care what color your phone was and 3) real men know that chicks LOVE men who rock pink - or rather, love a man with the confidence to pursue his interests without regard for the useless opinions of others. You'll learn that when you grow your first short hairs.

Loving mine and the fact it's colour varies depending on the lighting.
Waiting on a stone silicone case to compliment it.

Wish the color would look like this all the time.

It's really fun to read this thread where people argue about a colour.
Seriously? Is it not obvious? Apple is calling it rose GOLD because Chinese people love that "gold" part and they will perceive it as more valuable than if apple were to call it "pink"
When you talk about Chinese, I can confirm that the short term for this rose gold phone as shown in shops in Hong Kong and China is 粉 which means 粉紅 (Pink).

Here are some comparison photos (not mine).

What's the green one called? ;)

Seriously people, when trying to convey colour put the phones on a Kodak gray card or something, so we at home can remove some of the colour cast while viewing on our monitors.

EDIT Sampling grey from the "white" lines gives a better impression and shows the two phones in the picture above as pale gold tone and coppery pink.

No need to get your panties in a bunch. Someone asked for comparison photos so I attached a few I found online. Don't worry, they're not for you. Lmao.

Pink was interestingly unique at 1st but after a while the ugly c-section lines stand out. The lines are probably the most subtle on silver/white then space gray/black.

I could tell you that the Rose Gold is just a lighter shade of red...

at the end of the day, it's pink. Don't fool yourself.

Does it really matter if it's pink or not pink or copper or not copper? OP, I'm glad you like it. I'll be picking mine up today and couldn't care less if it's more copper or more pink.
A survey of what gender ordered the rose gold would be interesting...

This sounds familiar...

iPhone up til iPhone 5 - "white iPhone is for girls!"
iPhone 5s - "gold iPhone is for girls!"
iPhone 6s - "rose gold iPhone is for girls!"
I am still shocked that people still think white silver is considered for females...

Hmm, White is for everyone. goes with everything and everything comes in white so im perplexed at that one.
Gold to me is an old persons color. Not a fan but it isnt feminine imo.
Rose Gold...Feminine. At least the iPhone RG is imo.

Nope this is what rose gold looks like
Or it looks like this. I guess it is what you want it to be when you own it, lol. This ring looks nothing like that watch but it DOES resemble the phone. Neither does the watch compared to his watch below.

I don't know why people are so obsessed with the name of that colour.

It's not an ugly colour but it reminds me of the 80's with cocktail sauce, shrimps, moustaches, Hawaii shirts and pisang ambon cocktails. We had the 80's revival, it's getting kinda bored.

From all the coloured golds, a green gold would have been so much cooler.
