If any computer needs MagSafe, it’s h to he one for students.
Oh, of course! I was thinking of the puck like the phone, not the magnetic power cable on the side. 🤦🏻
Absolutely!

Don't worry, giant bezels will shrink the effective screen to below 12”.Wish it was closer to 12”.
Which dithering problem?Looks nice but will they be addressing the dithering problem?
Yeah, I’d be tempted by that, and if it came with an A19 chip I’d most certainly buy it… but given all the crazy situations with RAM and NAND… I wouldn’t have my hopes too high.Trying not to get my hopes up, I want a 12", thin, 16GB RAM (base) with 512GB, light, and good for travel.
But...I believe this is catered to the kiddies for school etc.
Not a problem, but I am not getting my hopes up. Better to be WOWed then let down...again.
That’s certainly been true since Job’s return and the g3 imacs/ibooks. Doesnt mean the products arent great quality but generally great design sells the products too. Look at the og ipod ad campaigns, or current apple watch ones. Think about how instantly iconic (and polarizing initially) airpods were and how they became a very visible accessory.A professor from my marketing class once told us Apple was a fashion company. I was ready to fight him but maybe he was right.
Big Bird on the yellow model would definitely be a vibe. 😎Be brave and get a bright color and put Sesame Street stickers on it. Show the world you just don’t care what they think.
In the renders, but who knows what it will actually look like? I haven't seen the iMac colors in person, other than white; are they bright?
I just keep thinking of the anemic iPhone Air "colors".
Why wouldnt it be able to run anything that runs on macos? It’s still gonna be a mac…Offhand, I'd say that color may be the least of your worries. I'd be more worried as to the apps it will be able to run. If users are hamstrung into using whatever is left free of iWorks and also Safari, with possible crossover of iPhone apps, that may prove problematic for professionals.

Edited to add: I looked up the chip again and didn’t see it was supported. I do recall having to install the Rosetta update with the M1 MBA. Not sure if such would be possible here. These won’t have Rosetta 2 support, will they? I think the M-series chips have some magic stuff in them for that. No Rosetta 2 support is a dealbreaker for me.
People said the same thing when the G3 iMacs and Powermacs began to replace their beige computers. .A professor from my marketing class once told us Apple was a fashion company. I was ready to fight him but maybe he was right.
You’re right actually, completely forgot about that lol.The first mac on ARM was running an A12 iPhone chip... Well it was the A12Z, which I guess was for the iPad.
Sideloading is a dirty word for Apple, and makes Tim cry.

Developers Begin Receiving Mac Mini With A12Z Chip to Prepare Apps for Apple Silicon Macs
As part of WWDC last week, Apple announced that it will be switching to its own custom-designed processors for Macs starting later this year. As part of this transition, the company is allowing developers to apply for a modified Mac mini with an A12Z chip and 16GB of RAM to develop and test...www.macrumors.com
I hope so. I thought getting rid of that name was a poor move from Jobs. Hell, iMacBook would’ve been acceptable too. Jobs really didn’t like those old G3 colorsSounds like ibook is coming back!
Nice work! I know white bezels get a lot of hate, but I like your concept with white bezel and keyboard.
There is no reason to believe it would NOT run Rosetta. These won’t have Rosetta 2 support, will they? I think the M-series chips have some magic stuff in them for that. No Rosetta 2 support is a dealbreaker for me.
That is normal. The first time you launch an Intel app on an AppleSilicon chip, the download is initiated.I do recall having to install the Rosetta update with the M1 MBA.
But also, dude, nobody cares how much you spent on your laptop.
10 hours of battery life is definitely not where it's at if they want to sell this machine. It'll need to have between 18 and 24 hours of battery usage life.I'm with you on this.
This, under 1kg in weight, 16Gb memory, 512Gb SSD, 13" or smaller screen (speaking personally, I'd find a 12.5" screen with 1920x1200px resolution fabulous), minimum battery life 10hrs, £600. A laptop with these specs that is as powerful as a M1 Mac would be brilliant for travel (business and personal).
I live in hope!
Bring on 4th March 🙂
Cheers! As for the white bezels, It's not my intention to trigger people. Although I personally like the silver / white combo, my thinking was that it clearly differentiates it from Apple's more expensive laptops. If this cheap MacBook ends up being silver with a black keyboard and bezels it will surely annihilate MacBook Air sales.Nice work! I know white bezels get a lot of hate, but I like your concept with white bezel and keyboard.
It'll have a 12" screen, 8 GB of RAM, start at 128GB of storage (upgradable), an A16X chip, and a 1920 x 1200 screen... And be priced at $599. Couldn't imagine the specs being any better than an iPad because of the price point. As long as this laptop comes in appreciably smaller/lighter than the current 13" Air, I will buy it on day one. I'd prefer 12, or even the option for 16 GB of Ram, and a silver or space gray one, and 2 USB-C ports, and a 512 GB SSD option, etc, but I'll take a pink/ yellow/blue one with 8GB of Ram & 1 USB-C port as long as it's more portable. I miss my 12" Macbook every day.
