Even though I agree with you, it's a shame the new market are poor people. Even our housekeeper has an iPhone now... Remember when Apple was exclusive?

Yes...damn those poor people. How dare Apple make a product for people who aren't stuck-up and looking down at those that cant afford an expensive phone.

RIP Apple.

Say goodbye to your quality brand.

If Porsche made an ugly piece of junk car that sold for $12,000, a lot of Porsche owners would be disgusted.

It ruins the brand.

First of all - people shouldn't buy an iPhone because it is an Apple product - they should buy it because it is a good device that works smoothly and meets their needs.

Your analogy would make sense if the iPhone wasn't available on Virgin Mobile, C-Spire, and Cricket. People buy used iPhones for use on Straight Talk and Net10 as well. Apple will make more money if they offer a brand new iPhone with the specs of iPhone 4S for $300 because most people will opt to buy this over paying $300 on Craigslist for a used iPhone 4s and Apple makes money off of hardware by offering this option.

People in China and India can't justify a high end $700 iPhone purchase when they can get a mid range Android, Blackberry, or Nokia device for way less. We are talking about untapped markets with a ton of potential customers.

Making a device out of plastic won't ruin the Apple brand - all iPhones before the 4 were made out of plastic and the 3GS doesn't feel cheap at all.

Ugly. Someone must have put a gun to Jony's head and forced him to build it. Hopefully it's a prototype that was rejected.

I actually feel it's quite classic ...

----------

FUuGGLY! I still don't see it's place in the iPhone Ecosystem. By the time the iPhone 5s comes out, the iPhone 4's non contract price should drop considerably.

I hate the low-cost iphone idea, but actually like the design...

Oh no, elitists feeling dismayed at the possibility of an iPhone that matches the price of the Nexus 4.

I, for one, would definitely buy an iPhone like this. It would let me have both an iPhone and Nexus device to play around with for the price of a single iPhone unlocked. It is not even like the iPhone is a status symbol, practically every poor starving university student I know has an iPhone 5. If the Nokia Lumia 920 is anything to go by, plastic can still feel great and does not have to feel cheap (like the Galaxy line).

And to people who compare Apple to luxury car manufacturers, you need to get a grip. Apple products are consumer products that are definitely within reach of most people making an income well within the median of what is considered middle class. They do not thrive on exclusivity, especially since they allowed carriers to give away iPhones for free on contract. This comparison is used over and over again and I really can't grasp why (besides attention to quality, maybe, but go look at the retina MBP "lottery" that people found themselves in and report back).

They really should stick with the 3.5" screen... Many still want the 3.5" after the 4"(iPhone 5) was in the hands of the consumer.

I understand with the market demand of a 4" needed/wanted, and a better aspect ratio, but Apple assuredly could keep this cheaper iPhone at a 3.5" for a couple years to say the least.

Also, the 3.5" pleases the App developers still rolling out Apps with that aspect ratio as well... I see the 3.5" screen as a legit possibility as I predicted awhile back.

And furthermore, it would give drastic product differentiation in the iPhone product segment, and this would ultimately help Apple and their two rumored iPhones for many reasons mid to long-term.

I agree with the 3.5" screen on the cheaper(& heavier) polycarbonate iPhone...

Even your housekeeper has an iphone?
Terrible. You should really pay him/her less.

(Sorry. I usually resist making those types of comment. But I just couldn't in this case.)

Literally anyone could of made that... literally anybody.

This is very true. Probably is the real deal tho. As much as I hate to say it. Never was a fan of the 3G/S. Just not real big on plastic in general.

Those are for middle-class posers. Apple is like Ferrari.

Disagree. I'd say Apple is very much in the German luxury auto class. Attainable by many, but at the high-end of the spectrum of attainability. And their engineering mentality is very much alike. I don't think there really are any Ferrari phones; super pricey, horrible battery life, flaky software, but is ultra fast and powerful... when it works, which is a low percentage of the time... ;)

But they already did my friend, it's called BOXSTER

The Boxter is a decent car. It didn't get nearly the flack that the Cayenne did, if you want to talk about tarnishing a brand. Although, I think Porsche's real bugger was the 914.

Its fake, the case manufacture who posted it cant have that kind of information. Visit the website on the picter and you will see. Its funny, because you mold a case, post it on internet and you get few thousend of visitors on your website. Nice.

Cayenne is a glorified VW, and don't get me started about PORCHE going four door.. unacceptable! I can't afford a Porche but I boycott them anyway after they did that :D

Congratulations to those who think that plastic is crap. Apple has certainly done its job in marketing their devices well if you believe that. And believe that only metal and glass are viable materials (now).

unbelievable.

enjoy your plastic iPhone

the metal design is much more solid than the 3G/3GS. Better heat sink use and looks a whole lot better.

Samsung don't care as much about their design as apple does they just rely on android to sell them while they pack it with big tech.

Sony take time like apple, hence using the metal

It goes to show you who values their products and who don't. Apple stocks dropping so hard ever since Steve went because he wouldn't have allowed back peddling in the design market.

There are no words.

Are you aware that I'm not in the market where this rumored plastic iPhone will be sold?

No. It doesn't say a lick about who values their product more. How do you determine that.

p.s. I would imagine that Samsung cares very much about their design. And since their phones are selling enormously well - I don't think it's just Android nor just specs. But you can think what you want. Doesn't make it true.

And lastly - You really should learn something more about the stock market and business. Apple the STOCK is not the same as Apple the COMPANY. The stock isn't taking a hit because of backpeddling in the design market.

The iPhone 3G and 3GS were plastic. And yeah, they were crap when you compared them to the iPhone 4/4S & 5.

Hmm. They sold millions. And the 3GS was still much in demand even after the 4. And oh yeah - different OS and screen at the time. Are you sure you're comparing the case materials with the actual phone.

Also - I'll re-iterate. Although just my experience - I rarely RARELY in NYC see a naked iPhone. They are almost always in a silicon or plastic case. So what difference does it really matter what a phone's case is made of when it gets covered up anyway.

If they really manage to expand the iPhone line and the userbase, they will secure the iOS platform as the leader: more apps, first releases on iOS.

Steve jobs would be turning in his grave if this is true, apple made a thing of beauty with the iPhone 4, it felt and looked good in your hand and then they did it again with iPhone 5 brushed metal.

Apple is not about turning out cheap and nasty, it's about the whole user experience, something that would be lost if user affordable comes into the equation.:(

wow probably on of the most disgusting post ive seen in the forum this year.

what do you think of nano, shuffle and mac and ipad mini? they just enhance the brand with choice.

And a phone to choose is a great thing too. In fact, there always was a choice:
ip 5, ip 4/4S and maybe only used 3GS.
Now you still can buy new 4/4S but you will get a very new low end phone with modern processor and camera and iOS, so there is no need for very old models. And the new phone while cheaper, with modern architecture will be fast and efficient (long battery, retina). Consumer will love it. Thats a great move.

My first iPhone was 3Gs and it was and still is a great phone. Now that I have 5, its used by my son, who prefers it to HTC android. 4 year old iPhone is preferred to modern HTC. Says a lot about quality of iOS and iPhones.

Nope. That is why high-end kitchen appliances and counters use that luxurious aluminum instead of the cheap-feeling granite and stainless steel.

Oh! Here's another example. Tiffany uses aluminum for their high-end jewelry instead of that cheap-feeling gold. And Rolex? Aluminum is used exclusively in their watch cases for the same reason. Same with Hugo Boss - the buttons are all made of aluminum on their $3000 suits due to the luxurious feel of the material. Go to any fine restaurant, and your wine will be served in an aluminum wine glass, and all the flatware will be made of aluminum. Aluminum NEVER feels cheap.

My new hero ! The forum seriously needs some sort of follow option.

At least try not to be obvious. As it stands you're way too predictable and consequently boring with your trolling.

Your the one that is boring with the same lecture, live and let die !
