The new processor is nice. I think I'll eventually upgrade from my Series 0. Not interested in Apple Music. LTE is a luxury I don't need. I run with a phone now and doesn't bug me a bit.

It should be free. Chances are I'm going to go over my data now and you(VZW) are going to charge me more anyway.

Apple today unveiled the Apple Watch Series 3, which is the first Apple Watch model that includes an LTE chip for standalone cellular service on the device. Neither carriers nor Apple are offering information on what we can expect as far as pricing for connectivity goes, but a report from TheStreet sheds some light on what carriers are planning to charge on a monthly basis for the LTE Apple Watch in the United States.

AT&T plans to charge $10 per month to add an Apple Watch to an existing service plan while Verizon will also charge $10 per month after offering customers three free months of service.

Sprint and T-Mobile both plan to support the LTE Apple Watch, but have not provided details on how much it will cost per month. With AT&T and Verizon charging $10, pricing could be similar at Sprint and T-Mobile.

Because the Apple Watch and the iPhone share a phone number, both devices must use the same carrier for connectivity.

The LTE Apple Watch will be available in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and China, with Apple offering a list of supported carriers in each country on its website.

Pricing on the new LTE Apple Watch starts at $399 in the United States for the 38mm Aluminum model. Non-LTE versions are also available, with pricing on those models starting at $329. The Series 3 Apple Watch will be available for pre-order on September 15, with orders arriving on September 22, the official launch date of the device.

where did you see this?
I saw on the Verge that T-Mobile was charging $10. But even WORSE, they are going to force you to use the Digits app. Which means your calls (on iPhone and watch) and SMS get routed through the digits app instead of Apple’s continuity embedded in iOS. Absolutely stupid. The digits app also has mandatory location services turned on, at least for it to work properly. So it’s a battery hog. Very unlike T-Mo.

I called Verizon and the girl said all wearables are $5 and they wouldn't raise the price for the Apple Watch, what changed?

Verizon has charged $5/month for the Samsung and LG watches for a while now. The CSR I chatted with said the Apple watch should be $5 as well, but she wouldn't know for sure until Friday when pre-orders go live. I'm fine with $5/month, but at $10 I'm not sure it would be worth it. I suppose I could shut off my iPad service to compensate since the Apple Watch would probably be used on LTE more often than the iPad.

Im seriously interested in this, but that's outrageous pricing. It SHOULD be free, since it uses a tiny amount of data and every user is, by definition, already on an iPhone plan. But I didn't seriously expect that... these are telecoms after all... but how on earth do you justify more than a couple bucks? It's not like we're going to be streaming video on the damn things.

It is just robbing. I do not think adding a watch will significantly increase their server load, let alone both watch and phone could use the same number.
I'll bet it's got more to do with the LTE data load voice load. People will use it to stream music, which requires some date. Still, you're right that it shouldn't be that much more than people already do from just their phones. And $10/mo is just gouging. How about $1, or$2?

But it might NOT use a small amount of data, if you stream Apple Music to it eight hours a day while at work.

I can see the argument or charging 'something' as it is a device that will constantly be pinging cell towers (like your phone does even when it just sits there doing nothing), but $10/mo seems high.

Ahahaha!! No way in hell will I be adding $10 a month to my wireless bill for a watch. Most people have their phone with them 24/7 anyway. The only people I see this appealing to are those really into fitness activities, like swimming and running.

If T-Mobile isn’t free then I’m not getting the LTE model. $10 is highway robbery. My monthly plan is too expensive as it is.

More like 2 hours...until the battery dies :)
