Fake for sure, no way Apple brought back the handle. I'm all for it but that's giving me some serious iBook and Powerbook packaging vibes.
Why wouldn’t it have a handle? The new iMacs have a handle that looks exactly like this one, except they are colourised depending on the iMac colour. It’s a heavy thing.

The iMacs packaging has a handle.
Yes Jen Prosser that's what I said
You mean Jon Pressor, right?
I was also thinking it looks bad. Kinda cheap and low effort for Apple’s packaging
What packaging do you expect for a cuboid thing? Apples packaging has always been very clean and minimalistic. I think since the Apple Watch they even stepped it up once more.
I don't understand why companies need to add a handle to small boxes like this.
Because this thing weighs between 2,7 and 3,6 kg. Thats pretty heavy unless you use it as lifting weight for muscle gain.

Any other iMac users looking forward to possibly returning to using a separate Mac and monitor? I really love my older 27" iMac but the idea of being able to choose the exact display I want and keep it across multiple system upgrades is getting more appealing as I think about it more.

I'm looking into getting one of those really huge 5K displays that fills my entire field of view. It'll be gorgeous!

Upgraded built to order Macbook Pro speed in a compact box. Without battery, screen, keyboard, trackpad. $2,000 is what Apple deems its M1 Max speed computer is worth. The battery, screen, keyboard, trackpad make up the added $800 of the MacBook pro with a surcharge for the convenience of portability. Personally I don't think the M1 Max chip is and some added hardware to cool it is worth 1,200 more than the M1 Mac Mini. A CPU and a Heat sink should not cost $1,200 above the price of the M1 chip which is already factored into the cost of the $800 mac mini. This thing in any other world, is overpriced. But since Apple controls all the prices and what machines you can get them in, its actually cheaper than the alternatives Apple provides. And instead of paying the regular $500 fee to upgrade it to some decent spec, your pretty much left with paying $1,000 more for the speed bumped model. And I thought paying $500 to not have an anemic amount of ram and hard drive space on the mini was bad.

Or perhaps he purchased accessories that include lithium batteries? What powers the new keyboard & mouse promoted with this launch?

Can't even see the full size of that box. Perhaps he picked up a MB too?

The Mac Studio has a battery inside, just like any other desktop computer or iMac or Mac mini.

Not sure why people need to dig when it's so obvious.

Apple is running to the activation server to make sure none of them can be used until Friday. ;)

hopefully he's getting money for early exclusivity, even though tomorrow there will be dozens of videos in youtube

It's definitely a real box. Interesting style they're going with on it though, either the picture of the system or the Mac Studio text almost appears like it should be flipped upside down to be correct.

It's easy to think that initially, but makes total sense when you consider how it will be positioned on shelf, when carrying and the orientation of the unit inside the box.

1. When being carried by the handle in the vertical position, or on a shelf in the vertical position, the studio unit and apple logo are both displayed the correct way up.
2. When placed flat/horizontal on a table so that the text 'Mac studio' is the correct way up, the image of the studio is on the top. Presumably it is at this orientation that the box opens upward to display the studio (correct way up) in the packaging. Also presumably the side directly opposite the image of the studio has more technical info/pictures, which are images you would want on 'underside' when placed flat on a table.

So counter-intuitive though it may appear, it does actually make total sense in comparison to the alternatives.

The base Studio costs as much as the same drive, processor, and ram upgrades would add to a Mac Mini.

My M1 mini shipped in a cardboard box with a battery warning sticker. Could be internal battery.

I doubt that very much. It’s not like this customer received it a week early, it’s literally a few days before the embargo lifts. It’s not uncommon that this happens with the iPhone or Apple Watch, where other customers received it a few days early. It doesn’t mean they will profit off a few photos they voluntarily shared.

It's $400 more than the Mac Mini, not $1200 more.

I admit I am jealous. Not as jealous if there were color/crystal options, but still very much jealous.
Enjoy it/them you who can afford them. Just make sure to load FCPX once for us.

I’d be more excited if there was a vibrant ecosystem of 5K monitors

You want a source for a sarcastic remark....oh well.....here it is: SARCASM!!

Also what is with people asking for sources all the time. This is no friggin journalism site! Too lazy to Google your own sources or what??!!

Sometimes it's valid when someone makes a bold, controversial statement without backing it up, other time's it's just people's response when they're desperately trying to discredit someone who's just shot down their own statement in flames.

Yeah but in this day he could easily send some videos to a youtuber who doesn't get early review units, in exchange for some cash.
