... There are several little quirks in the latest version of Safari, evident if you visit YouTube and attempt to use the video playing interface....

I have been experiencing YouTube quirks for some time on 10.14.3. I believe YouTube made some changes on their end that triggered the YouTube issues.

Having been in technology all my life - bugs happen as much as we'd like them not to - all things are changing all the time. My issue is if this was discovered during Beta why wasn't it fixed before production. That is what Beta testing is about - having a large population testing a large variety of combinations, etc.
I have a few other issues like a game I play not working but it's last update was in 2012 so I probably should be surprised it was working this long. Apple should require that if something is still on the App store that the developers test during Beta and certify works or it gets pulled from store.

Never thought I'd say this, but Microsoft is looking better and better these days'. They now seem to be the more stable of the bunch.
Run windows 10 machines also and I'd never make that claim. It is no better than it ever has been

I have worked out a fix for this. If anyone wants it, let me know and I'll try typing it up. It's a little technical and requires the use of the Charles web debugging proxy.
(The problem is that the Google authentication is not returning your email address to the system and the workaround is to intercept the api request and add in the email address manually)

how do you keep the columns from resetting to ‘equal spacing’ in full screen mode? subject column width needs to be wider than ‘# attachments’ or ‘email size’ but constantly reverts back to equal spacing, on any mac laptop or iMac. been that way for years

Also high time to fix autocorrect to disable capitalized terms (names, places) and improve the mail search for iOS.

I have a Fix. Use ProtonMail.
I have an idea. Why don’t people stop telling others to use mail service ‘x’ in defense of Apple’s blooper. It’s getting really pathetic always seeing people defend Apple when they screw up. How does this help make them a better company if they aren’t being held accountable? Workarounds do nothing but weaken an already splintered company.

What I don't understand is how this issue was not found and fixed during the testing phase.

Apparently Mail.app is just abandonware at this point, like many other apps in the ios/macos ecosystem.

Very frustrating.

Why not use the gmail app instead? It’s much better than the stock mail app. The new version has attached files visible too on the email list which is life saver.

LOL. Someone hasn’t used Windows 10 lately.

The Windows 10 update destruction tends to be more of the "won't boot because a broken updated video driver was installed" or "desktop computer's UI inexplicably switched to tablet mode" type. I got to support my father (over the phone) when Win 10 did the latter after an update: "some stuff is still there, other stuff disappeared, I've never seen any of this before, what do I do?".

Apple does seem to be catching up though.

The article implies that switching to IMAP fixes the problem. I must ask why someone would be using POP3.

It’s a gmail issue. Just click on “open in safari” and authenticate.
NO IT'S NOT, it's an Apple mail issue, stop talking about stuff you don't know about. Also it's dealing with G-Suite and not gmail. I installed the mail app SPARK until Apple fixes mail. My G-Suite email works fine in that but I want to use Apples default email program

i believe the article means adding it as an "other", IMAP-type email account, rather than using macOS's built-in "Google"-type account.

So what is the issue?

It may be a coincidence that this happened right after the update

Google is the problem here

It’s a gmail issue.

I use IMAP and 10.14.3 works without problem. 10.14.4 does not work at all. Restoring to 10.14.3 works without problem. I don't see a way to reasonably spin this as just a google problem.

Seems like it's not passing the authentication on or saving it. All the other email programs work with G-Suite, so something Apple did messed it up.
I had only this appear to me. I did what it said and it works fine.

Yes and that works fine for gmail and it also seems to work with some newer G-Suite accounts. My gmail account works fine but my 4 G-Suite accounts that are about 10 years old do not work with Apple mail but work fine with SPARK.

and yes, gmail and G-Suite are different

You can’t authenticate the email account

Then clearly you're not having the same issue as the people complaining. Shocker.
Shocker indeed.

and as I said before your G-Suite accounts are probably not that old. Mine are 10 years old probably. Had it since it was released.

A protocol is a protocol. i don't see how age is relevant here.

Just call it what it is. It's a seemingly random issue and nobody really knows why or how.
