Finally I have solved my problem. As the apple engineers told me, I bought a "Shielded" USB 3 extender cable and connected the Hub to it. I placed the hub five feet away from the computer. Everything works correctly.

Let's see if everything continues to work properly.

Do you have a link to what you purchased? Thanks

The important thing is that must be shielded. Don´t buy a very long one to avoid possible data transfer problems.
I bought the 1,5m version. Still working fine here!

So this thread has gotten pretty long and confusing for me. I'm just trying to clarify one thing:

As Apple has responded to at least one of you (or maybe more) that this seems to be a USB cable shielding issue, I'm guessing this means that no one should have any issues with Bluetooth if nothing is plugged into either the USB A or USB C ports? Is that correct?

If one doesn't have anything plugged into any of those six ports, then one would/should assume that there should be no problems with Bluetooth connections to BT devices including, but not limited to, Apple Magic Trackpad, Apple Keyboard, Apple Magic Mouse, etc.?

I just spoke to Apple chat support about this (and something else), and the response wasn't fantastic - apparently
Use a high-quality, shielded USB cable
(from their support document: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201542) means
Right and it would be referring to ensuring that you are using an Apple Branded cable for your model or one compatible with the model from the MFG of the 3rd party item.

However, the rep did forward my request for more info (about specifics of shielding, and/or a list of tested/verified third party cables) to engineering (along with the main request, about TB3 power output on the mini - there's another thread here about that).

I was advised to check back Friday (US time) for any response from Engineering. I'll reply if/when I get more info.

UPDATE: Got my Replacement Mac mini i7 32GB yesterday and I haven't had any Bluetooth dropouts (yet). *knocks on wood* Overal the bluetooth seems more stable but my Magic Mouse still has the occasional stutter every now and then (not as bad as before) but since I live in a neighborhood where lots of people still run 2,4 Ghz wifi networks I consider this acceptable. Let's hope the dropouts are kept to a minimum this time!
Coil whine update: It still does when connecting an independently fed USB device but it sounds quieter than before so it's either just this particular model or they did some slight sound insulation, although that means they did not actually solve the problem and probably never will. I guess I'll just have to learn to live with that.

Hello! I have mac mini 2018 with i7. And have this problem with magic mouse 2. After entering text mouse disapear and don't come back. Sometimes mouse moving very slow. And sometimes disconected. In my mac mini insert headphones hdd wd passport and hdmi 2.0. With headphones and hdmi i don't have problems. I buy ugreen adapter usb-c to usb 3.0 and connect hdd on it. and all problems with mouse solved. Almost 2 days it working perfect without any lags.

I have an i5 an no coil whine...

So basically apple’s “solution” is to ask users to buy brand new USB cables that worked perfectly on other computers but somehow became a problem when plugged into the new Mac mini? Give me a break

Weren’t they the ones who mocked Microsoft for making its users buy new peripherals just to use windows vista? How times have changed.

The apple cert tech said to reformat the computer, and if the issue persist they'll replace the network card (maybe that's called something else)

Unfortunately, I have returned my mini after 2 weeks partially because of these issues. My i5 2017 windows laptop works flawlessly with Apple magic keyboard and magic mouse, but mini was either not connecting for a good 30 seconds when restarted or not connecting at all. Magic mouse kept dropping and my logitech mx master mouse was also not reliable (which never happened with my Air) My Dell USB-C external screen was not initializing when restarted and I was forced to use HDMI to fix the issue, which is ridiculous because this is a 2018 Mac and I wanted every cable on my desktop to be usb-c (duh). Latest software update didn't resolve any of the issues. Lastly, the coil whining issue was there all the time, it was annoying and clearly not OK. It's not disturbing unless it's all quiet (which my study room usually is) but it's non stop.

I bought i7/16gb/512 and wanted the computer to last for a good 5/6 years and clearly something is wrong with initial product line. I can wait for new iMacs or maybe 2nd iteration of minis. But I'm definitely not having a USB dongle for a mouse in 2019.

Do they show up as an option to pair with other devices? Maybe they're paired to the built in BT radio and need to be 'reset' so they can be re-paired?

They are paired with the internal BT and with my iPhone. According to their instructions, they can be paired with up to 8 devices, so they should be able to pair with the adapter without any issue.
