Heya
Isn't it weird that apple would create an OS for the Japanese market but leaves the Install disc in information in English?
You're right.... that is rather strange.
Does anyone know if that's how it is normally done?
The packaged system discs that come with a Mac are all labelled in English. The photos certainly look the goods.
I've been running the "GM" for about a week without a problem...however, I just restarted in 64-bit mode (newest 17" MBP) and tethering with my iPhone didn't work? Weird.
Also, my up-to-date reads September ship date.
Maybe the 64-bit iPhone driver doesn't support tethering?
Wow, I potentially lose CS3, Vuze, Max, Cyberduck with 10.6.
I might keep my iMac on 10.5 for a while while I play with SL on my new MBP...
You're right.... that is rather strange.

Or it could be that tethering in the US isn't supported by Apple yet? I consider it an unsupported software modification...
mmmmmmmmm, are you sure you meant... buggery??Well done Apple, for releasing a broken OS. If it's the last build us devs got our hands on then it's broken.
iTunes and Quicktime STILL Crash like buggery.

I want to know the build number
No, they don't have to. Usually Apple is a few builds ahead of what they publish on ADC.Maybe Apple has revised the so-called GM build after they seeded it to developers. Does Apple have to use the build that they seeded to the developers?
They probably have their own QA team as well. Developer seeds are just for developers who need to make their applications compatible with changes Apple has put in. In the final stage no significant changes will be made, so they don't need every build on ADC.Don't they have their engineers to rely on to release the GM themselves?
how do i sign up for a pre-order for the Up-to-date program? I tried doing it through ...
http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/
...but there was nothing added to my cart. Am I doing it right? (cookies are enabled like it suggests)

and there are some other bugs here and there.
No way is it final. This, in my opinion, is a rushed release. bad on Apple.
Prove they just don't give a **** like they use too.
The Magic of Apple has gone!!
I really doubt Apple would release an OS that is buggy and doesn't work. They're people, guys... they know that they're doing.
What's the big fuss with this snow leopard release on this website. It really isn't anything for anyone to get excited about.
I can confirm this is 100% real as the latest Mac Mini has a earlier disc number:
!

Unfortunately, the lucky guy decided not to install SL.
He lives north of Tokyo, and geo-tags tell with 100m precision
where he lives, but soon geo-tags are deleted for his privacy.
He called Apple Store and he will receive 10.5 DVD soon ...
He looks typical ordinary person, not a hacking happy.
original thread is in 2ch. (all in Japanese language, of course)

Been using it about a week. The speed improvements for everything from starting up, to joining networks, to backing up on time machine, to opening any of the core applications are all freaking awesome. I have to use Leopard at work, and snow leopard really makes leopard just feel tired. But it's true, the genie effect hasn't changed. So yes, I suppose it is a boring upgrade, unless you actually, you know, use your computer to do things as opposed to just minimizing/maximizing windows all day long.
