These delays are utterly stupid, i went to the regents street store last week (where they had many) and after trying one i decided to order, however watching the delivery time go from 24 hours to 3 day, then to 6-8 days, then to a few weeks, i cancelled!

I was hoping for an update, i just really hope one does come.

same situation for me i was planning to order a mini off the apple UK store online and then the shipping delays came along...

Now forcing me to wait for the Rev.B so hopefully they will release it sometime this week...

Does anyone know if any apple products recently were given random releases on days other than a tuesday???

ShadOW

This is so strange because there aren´t any rumors of either an update or some inventory problem.

On rumors-watch.com were some rumors of Tiger´s release 10.4.2, but nothing on the Mini.

Has anyone else (besides me) in the UK got one on order at the moment, and have they also had an email from Apple warning them of a delay?
My order was for a standard 1.25, no extras.

According to the Mac Forums Buyers Guide:
The last updates on a Tuesday were for the iBook, eMac, xServe, Mac Mini and iMac.
The PowerMac, Cinema Display and Ipod were last updated on a Wednesday.
And the PowerBook was last updated on a Monday.

I really think that by the end of the summer we will see at least a 1.67ghz mac mini. Good chance that it could happen in the next couple weeks. Although...I did say that I thought it would happen during WWDC
Who knows, maybe this time I'll be right. The shipping times are delayed right now, that could be a sign.

I compared my current mac (in sig.) on xbench vs a 1.25 mini with only 256mb ram. both on 10.4.

the following numbers indicate how many times faster the mini is vs. my current system. the numbers are high enough in the right areas to make me buy a mini now and not feel worried. its a huge increase no matter what. it could be a few weeks anyway till we see updates.

don't forget that my G4 500 has 1GB and this mini has 256. considering that many of these numbers are huge!

cpu test 2.57x

gcd loop 2.7x

floating point 2.04x

altivec basic 3.73x

vecLib FFT 2.73x

float.point lib 1.65x

thread test 2.39x

computation 2.47x

lock contention 2.19x

memory test 3.19x

quartz graphics 2.09x

open gl 1.6x

user interface 1.4x

disk test 0.7x (so 30% slower) my current hd is a 7200rpm though so of course it beats the mini

some tests show a HUGE increase but all will still be noticable. I already have a kvm and have a 1.25 with 512mb being held at the store for me till friday afternoon. i'm not waiting any longer. I don't game so the graphics boost wouldn't help me that much.. I don't need ripple effects in dashboard.

I might buy this week....might not....AGH!

I am caught in this never ending... "waiting for an update"..... mode... I have to get out of it.... I simply need to buy a Mac Mini and never look at these evil RUMOR sites again... IGNORANCE IS BLISS.

but I .... I just can't. (a cry for help)

Stomachache!

I ordered my Mini this monday, finaly, after several months of waiting... But now there's this delay in Mac mini shipments of 6-8 business days.
Putz... I'm feeling bad because maybe I'm losting something big... But otherwise, It's the oportunit of having a Mac, because a friendo of mine will bring the Mini to me direct from US, and I will save a lot of money... so...

I'm feeling strange...

Optical out?

How realistic is it that the mac mini will come out with optical audio out? I'm thinking about buying an m-audio transit which gives usb to optical audio out, but am also planning on upgrading to the mac mini when rev b comes out. Just wondering if you all think it will be standard, or an upgrade.

Pretty likely given its on the Airport Express. Given the multimedia uses people are putting it too such an upgrade should b e a priority - along with video and normal ram.

...and when the new rev comes out, you'll see if people are having loads of problems with it. Then you read several complaints and decide to wait for the intel mini. Exactly that happened to me when last rev of iBooks came out... , eh?

I just spoke to some one from the Apple India helpline and she said that they have no stocks left.. She told me to check with the authorized retailers if i needed to buy one immediately... why is apple doing this! either they should release an update.. or let me buy the rev A mini!

Is it possible that apple has low stocks coz billy boy of m$ fame robbed the whole shipment of mac minis...

:p

I´m giving up on waiting soon

I hope Apple will announce the updates tomorrow. They have nothing to loose by do it right away since they are not selling any Minis at the moment anyways. Apple USA still says 4-6 days, just like they did 4-6 days ago!

Now I´m thinking of maybe buying a pc laptop with pentium M to use for Linux and switch to a Mactel when in 2007-2008.

See this guys..
Singapore store for mini, before and after...

P.S. See the circles will do...

I am not too sure about it. i tried on the US store, but the dates for delivery are the same. Could someone else try other stores elsewhere?
Thank you!!

Let's pray for the update, either Friday or next week.. I am particularly praying for my iBook 12"!!! Apple, next week please!

Did Apple drop the price of RAM for the mini in the UK too? It has "New reduced prices" in the custom build section. The 512mb memory option now adds £30 to the price, was it always that way?
