so it was you
21 inch mod i want to get one

also the photos you posted are funny
the 30 inch mbp is crazy
two keyboards is not a good design
the other one you posted above it with the fat bottom half is crazy
the dell and the hp are clearly better
this mbp mod is simply too fat
its like a suitcase and it would need wheels and a handle
like a trolley

i dont know when alex got his hp hdx dragon
i dont know if it was 2007 or 2009
hdx 9399sx sounds like more than a basic model
but its a great testament to pcs
that you can play around with them like han solo and chewbacca
and fix the hyper drive and make it the fastest ship in the galaxy
or at least faster
and if mac go and start soldering on their memory and cpus onto the logic board with the air redesign of the mbp then they will lose many fans i am sure
because the people want to be han solo
and fix their computers
i want a future proof mac with a removable battery and extra ssd bay with caddy like the hps have already

so tell us how you made the 21 inch mbp
that is an amazing machine
you said you didnt know
then you said you made it
very nice machine i would even buy one
but i think that 19 is better
so lord of the manor johnny ivey better start getting cracking on it
or return his gong for being a fail
this could be a legacy of jobs himself
didnt jobs like it big?
he liked the 10 inch ipad, when samsung went 7 inches
so he liked it big
then again he liked the small iphone, when samsung went big
so maybe jobs didnt like it big
but lord ivey can make up his own mind surely
and give us the 19 inch goodness
sound good?

also china land is not derogatory
china is a land
it is the china kingdom
kingdom = land
and china is a land
so chinaland it is
if you dont like this then live in chinaland where you cannot say anything without being told you are wrong
but i am from the land of the free

and yes i will use my computer in cafes
and attract attention with my big machine
from as many single women and moms as i can
they like shiny big things
whats so bad about that?

Totally having visions of throwing a couple hinges on the bottom of my 55" HDTV, and creating a bottom section with motherboard, keyboard, and a 30" touchpad... Couple car batteries and an AC adapter should power it nicely.

I used this + this to make this.

If I would have done it for real, I would need access to the same technology Apple used to manufacture the Unibody cases. As of now, I don't due to several circumstances, one of them, I don't work for Apple, the other, I don't have a dozens of thousands of dollar to blow, unless my Coke habits come into play, but that is a story for another thread.

Why the h do they allow children on the Internet. I've never seen one of these so called "thousands or tens of thousands" of people using these 19+" laptops. Why is that you ask? Because that's a small ass number. My town has more people than your estimated figure of how many people purchase these laptops.

Remember the rest of the world isn't you and to the rest of the world they don't have wet dreams over the next iPad having an A6 processor.

I think if luckely apple will put a retenial display in to 17 inch macbook pro it will be much more better even then ordinary 50 inch display, am i right?

Since there are no 50" computer displays, and the 17" MBP already has a better resolution than any 1080p HDTV, a Retina display will be even better, though it will need resolution independence.

Wow you are a tool to the masses. Did you even read the link you posted?? a 20.1 inch drive with worse resolution than my 15" MBP (yeah sign me up for that)? As to the upgrades this person supposedly did (From the other posters here), wouldn't have been possible. I searched for the model the poster claimed to have upgraded and the resolution on that model was the same as the 17 MBP (yeah larger and worse resolution, again sign me up). I would like to know how the person claimed to have gotten (2) 3 TB HDDs in there, when the 2TB 2.5 has really just been introduced and this person claims to have had 3 TB over 7 months ago, therefor it would have been a 3.5 drive (this must be a really thick laptop to support 3.5 drives).

As for the 21 inch, that is just a mock up someone designed in a photo program and doesn't actually exist pin real life (just like the iPhone mock ups).

As for Apple building a 19 inch, they would have to contract with someone to special build the panels for them and them only as no one else is using them, so this adds another expense to the manufacturing process (as you know Apple doesn't just build most of the parts for their MBPs?).

As for the reason that they are not being built today, it has nothing to do with the economy, but with the user demand. Apple has never been known to cater to the minorities, they build for the masses. Just because others can and have built them, doesn't mean apple should. Look at all of the manufacturers that were quoted as building these monsters, most of them have recently had some really bad numbers for earnings (Apple has a simple and limited manufacturing plan so the costs can be kept low).

And if there ever is a Retina 17" MBP with quadruple the resolution of the current 17" MBP, it would look like this and that would be quite uncomfortable if there is no resolution independence. But I guess all the elements will be just quadrupled as well, but what is the advantage of a 17" Retina display then. I mean, I can see the pixels, if I really concentrate, but quadruple the resolution would drive the battery nuts.

Maybe in a year or three, when battery technology has evolved enough.

Why settle for 19" with puny little 2.5" HDDs?

Just get a 21.5" iMac and use one these: http://www.ilugger.com/product/detail.cfm?nid=1460&pid=40026

Just think of the attention you'll get at the local coffee shop/bakery!

If you really had a 19" desktop-replacement notebook it would have poor battery life. Or would need a bigger/heavier battery (like the iPad 3) so you'd want to plug it in where possible. So really, why not just lug an iMac around.

That way you could even go as far as 27" if you really want to.

I wouldn't hold my breath for battery advancements. They have been pretty stagnant the last few years (no great strides like in other industries).

If they made a 19 inch MBP I would buy it.

I think they would sell a lot to moms at home, designers, and anyone who wanted the extra space.

Once you go 17 you won't go back. Even 15 is too small.

Also having a 19 inch in a cafe would attract a lot of attention from the moms and people there. For a single guy this is very good.

What do you all think?

Dell made a 20" laptop computer a while back. Have you seen that thing? It was basically an iMac with batteries with a keyboard that was detachable. The power brick was enormous. Yeah if you're looking to pick up grandmothers, maybe that's your thing, but I'm pretty sure the only attention you'll get is people wondering if you're crazy.

You obviously don't bring your laptop to PTA meetings or soccer games. It's like catnip to them.

I'd have to agree. Every time I bring mine to 'Mommy and Me Pre-Birth' classes at the local YMCA, the raging hormones in those ladies start kicking up, and you can tell they love the sleek aluminum by the way they stroke it up and down, again and again. Feels quite nice.*

Edit: *I mean it feels nice for the computer I can imagine.....

Th 17" MBP is already one of the most expensive laptops you can buy. I can't imagine the what the pricing would be for a 19" version. People are looking more for a protably device and something less expensive which is why the 13" sell so well

The 17" already sells slow. I'd imagine the demand for 19" would come almost exclusively from the 17" market. Thus, you'd be splitting the already small market for big screen MBPs. Nevertheless, I want a 19" MBP!

Shurely i love 17inch macbook pro, but i don't think it should be bigger... well maby 18.4 like Dell Alien Laptop but not more then that.

I think Apple have to just incress the resolution of the screen, but not actualy the size of it.

my 2 cents

Scratching my head...

I've read two whole forums of the OP's free verse. It's as simple as this: If you don't like Apple products, don't buy them. Don't waste your time trolling on Apple forums telling people you don't like Apple products. I don't go on Windows forums telling people how my computer rules and theirs suck. I have better things to do with my time.

Complaining that Apple doesn't have a 19-inch laptop makes no sense. Tell me, what mainstream laptop manufacturer makes a 19-inch laptop today? Go to any computer store or big box retailer, and how many 19-inch laptops, Windows or Mac, do you see? None. A 17-inch laptop is considered a "desktop replacement." If you need a bigger screen, you need a desktop or a desktop monitor to connect to your laptop. Period.

I've used 15-inch Windows laptops since my HP Pavilion in 2001. For the things I used them for, 15 inches is the right size. That's why I chose a 15-inch for my MBP. It fits nicely in my backpack and on my desk. The screen and resolution are perfect for my 50-year-old eyes. I wouldn't go smaller or bigger.

I have a family, a job, writing, and plenty of other things to do besides trolling or counter-trolling. If you have a legitimate question, I'd be glad to answer it. If you have good advice, I'll be glad to read it. Otherwise, don't waste my time or anyone else's.

some more news from the world of monster machines

acer had one called the acer aspire 9920

also the hp hdx dragon for a 2007 machine had some very nice specs
example of one owner i found on the world wide internet web

"hdx 9399sx
nvidia geforce 580 gtx graphics card
windows 7 ultimate(i already have the windows 8 beta)
6tb hdd(2 x 3tb western digital sata hdd)
intel core i7-980x processors(3.3 ghz & 3.6 ghz with turbo boost)
8 gb ddr3 memory"

thats quite a good machine for one thats nearly 5 years old

also people did take the 20 inchers to cafes
http://www.laptopmag.com/mobile-life/attack-20-inch-notebook.aspx?page=all
http://sleepny.lefora.com/2010/11/27/what-computer-do-use-like-when-you-go-to-a-cafe-wi/

if we can put the man on the moon
and hp, even dell and acer make 20 inch laptops
i think that apple can make a 19 inch mbp laptop

Acer HAD one. Why do you think Acer stopped making it?

The article isn't showing people who are lugging around their monster laptops, it's a guy trying out what it's like for the sake of the article.

----------

and yet there are buyers for them on ebay and lining up on the forums for these monsters
think thats a coincidence?
and yet there are people here who say they would buy a 19 incher if apple made one
think thats a coincidence?

The existence of a market doesn't make it profitable. Unless you think a market is profitable, there is no reason to enter it. If it turns out you were wrong in thinking it was profitable, you exit it.

How many companies produces these kinds of monster laptops today?

i imagine the 17 incher sells slow because its very expensive for the student and normal person and even the most dedicated mac fan
it a lot of money for a computer that is - lets face it - a lot slower than an alienware and most of the kids with money want the gaming computers
but i dont know if there would be a split
there would be a split between the 17 inch and the 21 inch and other desktop markets out there so ... ? who knows ... ?

its nice to know that you would buy one
i would too!
bring on the 19 inchers lord johnny ivey!!!
use your knighthood for good!!!

there is no complaint
its called a suggestion
its called human advancement
its a legitimate question
please dont be a drama queen, who are you to say the people cannot suggest that apple need a 19 inch?
nobody is wasting your time
nobody is wasting anyone elses time
but you with your lack of respect for freedom of speech and discussion about what we can achieve as humans in this small world in which we live
so mac, bring on the 19 inchers please
also 18.4 like the alienware is a good step up when you think that 15.6 mbp to 17 mbp is the same step up
however the full monty 19 inch would be very nice
it would be the king of all laptops

If we can get them to make a big enough display, :apple: can advertise that the simple task of carrying your laptop to work each day satisfies your quota for daily exercise. They might then be able to market it to moms who want to get in shape, or buy them for their kids so they can get in shape while still being addicted to technology. I see where the OP's head was at on this one. I think I like it.

;)

interesting idea
i think the 18.4 is a good size
someone might confirm that the alienware is a 4:3
i prefer 16:10 or 16:9 myself
the alienware m18x actually makes the mbp 17 looks like a toy
but it mac makes a 19 incher this would be good
because i would buy one
