How do you know this? Do you have a source for this info?
I think you know the answer to that one! ;)

If I had displayed the level of intelligence, knowledge and reasoning skills that the OP has in both of their threads, I would be hiding somewhere in embarrassment, rather than continuing to make such blatantly false statements. I'm just biding my time until the mods decide that enough is enough and they finally Wasteland this thread. I hope it's soon!

To the OP, do you have 3K to spend on a laptop? If no, please stop right there because that's how much apple will charge for it. If yes, get a 21" iMac + 13"/15" macbook.

apple used to have quanta make its laptops to their specs
but i think its all asustek these days
but exactly how much of a macbook pro is an asusbook?
thats the question

yes i do have $3000 to spend on a 19 incher
a 17 incher all specced up to normal (ie same as a $1500 hp envy 17 3xxx) is around $4000
$3000 is nothing in the world of an up-specced macbook
you could probably up-spec a 13 inch mbp
and it would start to approach $2500
so yes as long as it doesnt have a 5600 drive
i have $3000

If they made a 19 inch MBP I would buy it.

I think they would sell a lot to moms at home, designers, and anyone who wanted the extra space.

Once you go 17 you won't go back. Even 15 is too small.

Also having a 19 inch in a cafe would attract a lot of attention from the moms and people there. For a single guy this is very good.

What do you all think?

You may also attract a lot of attention from the thieves and muggers.

maybe its just me but i feel like people that buy laptops that are that large 19"+ are like yea its huge and super powerful and i can take it places. Then they take it somewhere once realize how annoying it is to transport and it lives on a desk or table the rest of its life.

like others have said just carry a 21.5" imac around with you

oh and the largest laptop dell makes is 18.4 inches that weighs in at almost 8lbs with a lower screen resolution than a 17" macbook pro. the largest laptop HP sells is 17.3" and also weighs in at almost 8lbs so where are all these 19"+ laptops you speak of?

for a machine that is not minimalist and no island style keys
that's a beautiful machine

it shows that a 20 inch mac would be possible
so why dont mac make a 19 inch mac
it would be the perfect size
i would buy one
legions of new fans would be born overnight
and people would not say that the 17 is not big enough and that they want the big beautiful display of the 19 incher

For comparison, the 17" macbook pro weighs 6.6 pounds according to Apple. Large laptops are pointless. As the price of lcd panels came down in price, these would have gone up in popularity if people actually wanted them and were willing to pay the premium. If you really need to travel with a large display, a desktop display + tenba or pelican case and a typical laptop starts to make more sense. Very few people actually require that, but the option is there.

but i think that 19 is better
so lord of the manor johnny ivey better start getting cracking on it
or return his gong for being a fail
this could be a legacy of jobs himself
didnt jobs like it big?
he liked the 10 inch ipad, when samsung went 7 inches
so he liked it big
then again he liked the small iphone, when samsung went big
so maybe jobs didnt like it big
but lord ivey can make up his own mind surely
and give us the 19 inch goodness
sound good?

its nice to know that you would buy one
i would too!
bring on the 19 inchers lord johnny ivey!!!
use your knighthood for good!!!

----------

what we can achieve as humans in this small world in which we live
so mac, bring on the 19 inchers please
also 18.4 like the alienware is a good step up when you think that 15.6 mbp to 17 mbp is the same step up
however the full monty 19 inch would be very nice
it would be the king of all laptops

interesting idea
i think the 18.4 is a good size
someone might confirm that the alienware is a 4:3
i prefer 16:10 or 16:9 myself
the alienware m18x actually makes the mbp 17 looks like a toy
but it mac makes a 19 incher this would be good
because i would buy one

if we can put the man on the moon
and hp, even dell and acer make 20 inch laptops
i think that apple can make a 19 inch mbp laptop

i know a lot of business people who would carry them around
17 is nothing for these people
19 would be just right in a sense
because 17 is normal for them
also there are people who arent girly men
and who have muscles to carry them

so i want johnny ivey the lord of the manor
to design a 19 inch macbook pro
or promptly return his knighthood for being a fail

so why no 19 incher from apple
they would sell them to moms
who like the big ones
they would sell them to me
because all the mama sans would stop by and say oh its so ooki
thats also a reason to buy one
apart from the fact they would be the monster trucks of macs
and would be very nice on the eyes

a lot of people like their 17 inchers
so this thread is about 19 inch, not about whether 17 or 19 is the right size
it is, it has a market, they sell 20 inchers dell and hp by the truckload

@simsaladimbamba

who designed and built that custom 21 inch macbook pro?
i want one
maybe that is the solution

also the reason the 20 inchers have not been re released is because of the depression
they came out in 07 and now people dont have the money to buy them
but 17 and 18 inchers are still being made
alienwares 18 incher is a monster
and they are selling them even though they are super expensive

if mac has any cojones it will make a 19 incher to fit between the 17 inch and the 21 inch desktop
it will make a 19 inch laptop and people will buy it
i would
but they dont make it so i am deciding between the hp envy 17 3000 and the mbp 17
the hp actually has 17.3 inches so its bigger, even though only 1080hd 16:9 and the mac is 1020hd 16:10 so figure that out
so if hp can make a 17.3 last for 6 - 8 hours on win 7 64 bit
then mac can go up an extra inch and a half an make a 19 incher
why not?
we went to the moon
so mac should make this computer it would be a monster and i would buy it

why would dell and hp sell tens of thousands of 20 inchers if 17 is too big?
why would alienware sell tens of thousands of 18 inchers if 17 is too big?

i wanna hear from people who love 17 and would go bigger
not from people who think that a 13 or 12 inch toy is enough (it might be for them)
i

We get it. You think it's going to happen or really want it to. It's not. Please move on and either buy one of the big ass laptops or just get a 17" or carry around a 21.5 imac

OP- If Apple (not Mac) makes a 19" laptop, PM me with your paypal and i will either send you money to buy one or i will buy one for you.

I guarantee it isn't happening.

There gets a point where a certain size laptop for someone gets too big and instead warrants an external monitor. The price for a 17" MBP is already crazy as it is, so making a 19" would probably show even fewer sales than the current 17" model. The resolution on the 17" is already really high and provides a great amount of screen real estate as it is.

I just don't see a 19" as being feasible for apple to produce in terms of both portability and profit/loss.

It's not that it isn't feasable, like what many thought 10 years ago about the imacs, it's the practicality that just doesn't make this a good idea.

Maybe feasible was a wrong word choice.. sensible would fit better there. Good call.
