Common sense tells me new ipods on the predictable, 16th of September. Could it be any more obvious?

I'm thinking it's pretty obvious if it's happened the last few years it's going to happen the same time this year.

okay, anyone think itll happen by august 15? cuz then ill be cutting it close to school starting.

Since it says to stock up through August, I'm gunna go (or hope) for the beginning of September (at least for the MB/P's).

I've been waiting since December! So it'll have been 10 months by the time they come out.

It's not SO bad, though. The anxiety didn't get horrible until the beginning of this month.

If it'll happen, it'll only happen after September 15th, when Back to School is over!

Free Ipod vs. Updated Macbook. This has been plaguing my mind for so long! I've been holding off on making the switch from PC because of this!

Woe is me :(

well, with the back to school deal ending on the 15th, I wouldn't doubt it if the new products were released on tuesday the 16th.

..no one reads.. the promo date isnt that relevant.. i said earlier that last year the ipods were released on sept. 5 and the promo ended on sept. 16.. so this years release isnt 'so obvious'.. come on people.

why? the whole point of the back to school promotion is to sell a bunch of computers while clearing ipod stock so that they can release the new ipods.

i think they will want to release the laptops before the school promo ends so that people buy them, and take the old ipods with them.

since the ipod deal is good for any mac computer, its clear the promo is used to get rid of the ipods and not the computer stock.

me too (or six, or seven, it seems). Especially given the nearly-year-long wait, and the recent demise of my Dell laptop's screen.

Bring on the new MBP ... even without blu-ray!

This could be good and could be bad

if they release the new MBP's before september 15th that would be great.

i am a student and have been waiting a month or so for the new updated stuff, however, classes start on August 29 for me, and I really need that back to school thing to save money on an ipod and printer blah

this better be good.
anybody have an idea of the processor they may use. i could see using the newer intel processors without the rest of the chipset.
9600GT's are deff going to be in the MBP's

i just need that back to school bundle!

September 23rd?

Well wasn't the rumor for the new MacBooks late-September? The 16th seems to be MID-September. Anyway I turn 16 in late-September and I plan to get a new MacBook with the birthday money I get, so its all good for me.

But who's gonna clear the MB/P stock! The iPod is much cheaper as compared to the MBs and it sells exponetially than MBs! Its more important for Apple to clear them out rather than touch!

At any cost AI reports that Apple is telling everyone to stock up for a famine:eek:

an iPod Touch with GPS and a Camera.

That is one thing I would love to see.
A camera on the touch would be great.
And with the ability to email pics taken with the camera.

I wonder what could be in store for the iPod Classic. The Buyer's Guide certainly hints toward a number of Apple hardware announcements, especially iPods. It looks to be an exciting few months for an Apple fan.

Does anyone think the iPod Classic could go flash? Or would it be way too expensive as of now for capacities to reach 160GB?

No way would there be a 160GB flash.
Maybe an 80GB flash.
I do hope to see a 250GB iPod Classic.
I don't care if they stop there.
The classic merged with the touch would be...ok.
Like a 160GB Touch for $3-499 would be cool.

Need BLU-RAY!!!!! IT'S WAY OVERDUE !!!

basic models need just BD-Rom Superdrive, option for BD / DVD / CD burner, but that would be too expensive on its own.

also apple get rid of intel integrated video chips

I couldn't agree more on the Blu-ray bit. Dell sells laptops with BD-ROM drives for under $1,000. I get why they can't offer an upgrade (because of Sony's stupid HDCP), but they need to get on this NOW. The war is over. People own BD movies and want a way to rip them...I mean watch them somewhere else! :)

I have seen standard BD-ROM drives for $100, which even play HD DVD as well. There's not a good reason for those to not be incorporated into the Mac Pro line. As far as the other computers, I'm sure there has to be a slot-loading drive for circa $200. Add the BD-writer option for whatever it costs and some people will eat it up. The price of discs is finally dropping (I saw one for $8, a far cry from the $20 I saw earlier this year).

As far as the integrated graphics, fat chance. I think that'll be something around for many years to come. Maybe give the MacBook an option for a GPU, but to keep prices down they'll have to keep integrated graphics on the low-end models.

...in other news the sky is still blue.

I seriously don't think that we can call the iPod aspect of this a "rumor". Apple always updates the iPods in September before the holiday buying season. This is as predictable as the new iLife releases at Mac World used to be (I'm guessing we should be due for a new version any time from now).

The laptops, however, are less predictable, particularly given the rumors of Apple making significant changes to the architecture. That said I am not bothered since my current MBP has at least another year of service ahead of itself and probably more if my wife has her say in things. A new spacious hard drive is about as far as things will go for me this year.

I agree that mid-September is too late. I'm making my university purchase with iPod Touch @August 16-21, '08, b/c it's one week before school starts. Dang, I'm gonna' have to bring back my new MBA, b/c it's not the latest model and I'm within the 30 day new release time frame...:p

FYI: Last year new iPods were on Wednesday Sept. 5th (The Beat Goes On), all Apple's new products came out on a Wednesday last year - This year its more Tuesday? Last year Back to School finished on Sept. 16th 11DAYS AFTER - but you could only get the OLD generation iPods not the fresh batch.

I Believe it will be on the first or second tuesday of Sept. REGARDLESS OF BACK TO SCHOOL.

this post was made to shut up those people saying its going to be after the BTS offer finishes

/FYI:

9600GT's are deff going to be in the MBP's

Um.. no :/

Nvidia just announced 5 new mobile GPUs, compatible with the new chipset Apple is supposed to be using and with CUDA tech and integrated graphics built in for HybridPower, which would save VAST amounts of battery power.

Even before they had been announced, there's no reason Apple would choose the pathetic 9600M GT over the significantly more powerful 9650M GS.
