from Macworld, Apple Inside, PC MAG, Verve, Tom's, and every other reviews:
"most Stable OS in years!"
"more battery life"
"Liquor Glass is amazing!"
"Faster file search"
"better computing experience"
"AI is A1!"
"Lighting fast GUI!!!"
" did not stop at nothing!"

I read many reviews, was tricked and even went back here after a long absence.
which was a good thing, but everyone behind a keyboards and paycheck....
well after using that for a month I realized AI or their computer were M5.

then I saw the same over-bloated fake 10 star reviews that did not pertain to the script and acting of
on the dexter TV new series, the 4th spin off on IMDB and made a note to myself that this is the world now.
just fake reviews to promote a product.
That’s there opinion. They haven’t lied but personally I wouldn’t trust what Macworld say.

Macworld lost their honestly and depth along with any worthy reputation many years ago.
they just front Amazon purchases now.

what mystified me was no one in the tech review industry
acclaimed Ventura to Sequoia as those reviews were plain, unexciting, mundane, non-earth shattering.
yes LIE was a strong word as I felt we were deceived some how more than other releases.

anyways im very happy with Monterey as I will use that from now on.

That’s why I’ve just bought a MacBook Pro M4 with Sequoia pre-installed.

At first, I wanted to wait for the M5 Pro to come out, but Tahoe changed my mind.
Yeah I am still running Sequoia on this M4 MBA 13"... I was running Tahoe on the last one, but I am just fine running Sequoia for a while yet.

I get the dislike of Tahoe but I wouldn't purchase an older Gen MacBook based on the OS? M5 is a lot more significant than the OS that will get updated and eventually Liquid Glass will change.

I guess I have been burned on older gens by Apple too many times I will always buy the latest hardware I can get.

Now if there are better deals on M4 and the difference in cost is worth getting m4 over m5 then I can see that but buying last Gen because of Tahoe seems extreme to me.

An argument often used by those who find Tahoe acceptable or good... is to vote with your wallet. If someone does that... they have voted.

But besides keeping what you own or getting an older model what is the alternative?

I get the idea of voting with your wallet but how does that apply of you are still buying a new Mac? M4 or m5 Apple still makes a profit?

If you are voting with your wallet you sell off Apple gear and buy the alternative which is Windows/Linux and Android not previous Gen Mac?

I think given the alternatives currently available-specially laptops a current MacBook with latest Apple silicon regardless of OS shipping is always wise. Software changes but the hardware you buy doesn't. I would just deal with Tahoe until Apple gets their head out of their @sses. Or I would do the nuclear option. GUI ugliness is not enough for me to ditch Apple as I dealt with MS long enough to deal with ugly GUI.

Also Eventually you will have to update Sequoia?? If Tahoe is still the only alternative what will people do then? What if in 6 months we get another major update? Then wouldn't it be better to have M5??

I don't care what people do I am just trying to understand the logic behind it?

He bought a computer that wasn't old, probably discounted, and with more than enough power for a variety of uses. Obviously, people generally tend to buy the latest model, but by doing so, he has preserved the possibility of using Sequoia for years and, if it improves, eventually upgrading to macOS 26 or 27.

So far, I've heard of few people who have seriously expressed their intention to leave Apple... Many (myself included) hope that better days are ahead, but having Sequoia allows us to wait with more peace of mind... (in my case, I have two minis with M4 and Sequoia and 1 MBpro with 26.3 beta 1). I would be happy to be able to upgrade peacefully as I have done for the last 28 years of using a Mac... but this time, caution seems to be a must in order to have a reliable computer.

I am not disputing the way you feel about Tahoe, but after almost 30 years of using Apple products and their ecosystem, I couldn't imagine myself leaving the platform altogether because of one iteration of the operating system. I won't lie, I like Tahoe (sorry ☺️) but even if I didn't that wouldn't be enough for me to go elsewhere. Apple products have been part of my life for a long time now, they may have changed the furniture a little bit with Tahoe, but it still feels like home.

100% agree. Mail just starting to crash unexpectedly for me. Mac OS lately is just RUBBISH! This use to happen on previous Mac version. I had to erase and install, start from scratch. Before that, I had terrible stuttering on the trackpad when I received the brand new iMac M3 and it updated to Ventura. Trackpad was all over the place. Had to erase and reinstall with that one to fix it also... Apple OS is just pure garbage lately. Garbage!

sorry to hear about these issues, but they don't represent the OS, they're issues you personally have experienced (and worth perhaps starting a thread to get help with mail).

it's (i'd suggest) useful to separate specific problems from general OS flaws....

Mail has sucked as an application in all Apple OS. iOS, MacOS and iPadOS all suffer from the poor performance of the included mail application. This has been going on for years!

When I first got my M1 Max MBP 16" with 32gb ram and opening mail would just freeze up the system or mail would just be unresponsive for minutes. I couldn't believe how one app could ruin my experience in MacOS and still to this day has issues.

So my personal advice is to use a different mail service like Gmail or other if mail keeps causing issues.

It is frustrating and regardless of what people think of current Apple OS versions mail could use a major overhaul. I wish Apple would focus on improving included apps. Pages for example is a poor substitute for word. I wish Apple would make Pages a complete substitute for word that is compatible with word and formatting. Other included apps could use feature improving. The OS could use performance improvements and efficiency improvements. These two things would be vastly more useful than Apple Intelligence and Liquid Glass.

i've been using mail since it first showed up, and don't have any major problems. perhaps it's something with your server? or? there must be a common denonimator, since you've experienced this in mac os and ios....

am fine with pages (but i do pretty basic things). and apple's pro apps are awesome (logic, final cut).

really, tho, you should look into the mail issue, the app works for most of us....

The only thing that bothers me with Mail is the search that seems sometimes completely broken. You search for a keyword but Mail doesn't find anything and yet your message(s) is there, it just doesn't seem to be able to retrieve the corresponding messages for some reason. It's very annoying, especially at work... (it doesn't matter if it's Apple Mail or gmail or anything else, all the same). Then you look for them manually and these messages are indeed and obviously there. Rebuilding mailboxes doesn't do anything either. And to be clear this has nothing to do with Tahoe, I think it started in Sonoma.

I’m still on Monterey and mail search is a total crapshoot. For instance, searching for an email address returns maybe a quarter of the actual emails from that sender. Ironically if I setup a Smart Folder with the same search criteria all the emails show up.

I think this has been an issue for years with the Mail app, both for Mac and iOS. If there's an email I actually need to find that isn't returned by Top Results I usually have to open gmail in a browser and search. Other email services including an internal corporate server are no different in terms of the Mail app's ability to resolve searches correctly.

search works fine here on my mac mail; so an issue for some, not for everyone... 🤷

Search on Mail has been as bad as I can remember. I find it quicker to manually go into folders and look.
