you think isn't a big deal but it has to do with creativity. Mac has always been for creatives.
not sure what that has to do with 'creativity'. i work in logic pro & final cut, so consider myself a 'creative', and again, that is going to have literally no impact on my actual work. why would it? šŸ™„

Given users are experiencing usability issues with Liquid Glass, I think it's safe to say that the new Liquid Glassed Creative Studio will present its own problems.

That may not affect you and that is fine.

Regarding grammar, I didn’t need to infer ā€˜some users’; because I never said ā€˜all users’.
Okay, I think that's clear. With some elements, since they have no evidence, it all comes down to semantics. They attack you if you don't specify that it's your opinion or that of a specific group, and they use the ā€˜get out of jail free card’ by specifying ā€˜it's my opinion’. They circumvent the rules of decent and open discussion without arguments but by denying those of others.

I am struggling. I have the latest of everything as of 3/26 except an M4 MB. That is running 18, with constant bugging from the os to upgrade to 26.

My 17 ProMax, M5 13" iPad Pro, M2 13" iPad Pro, Ultra 2, and iPad Mini are all on IOS26 and all experienced a lag going to 26 except the M5 (came with 26). The WatchOS one was really bad, slightly improved yet still not near as good as it was in 18.

Would you upgrade a 16gb M4 MB to 26 if you had 18? I'm one of those people who loved Snow Leopard more than anything that came behind it for its ability of the technically minded to manipulate it to do literally anything.

truly the most diabolical iteration of MacOS ever spawned by Lucifer himself... and I've used them ALL from the BEGINNING.

That's impressive. I've used as low as Classic MacOS System 6.x, which I used very little. I used System 7 for many years, mostly 7.5.x and 7.6.x. I very much liked 7.6.1. I think 7.6.1 was even nicer than 8 and 9. Then I've used most of the macOS 10-present OSes, although I skipped a few as I was Mac-less for four years during the OS X era.

This thread is still alive? I am one of those who tried to go back to Sequoia and immediately upgraded again to Tahoe. I cannot go back. Sequioa seems very ugly once you get used to Tahoe. So, I don't know what Apple did but Tahoe clicked with me.

This might be a bug. Try resetting the ā€œmyselfā€.plist šŸ˜‰

I have similar specs M4 Mac mini 16 GB. I finally took the plunge into 26. For me it's been fine now since 26.2. RAM is a problem at 16GB, should have got more, for my specific workload and that leads to orange memory pressure and slowdowns, but I don't think it's a MacOS 26 problem. 26 has been rock solid stable and fine for me now since .2.

I feel the same way, but I'm still holding on šŸ™‚

Bought a MacBook Neo last week and it's the only Mac with Tahoe - all of my older ones are still on Sequoia.

WTF is this?! Command+Space is also blank, and Spotlight doesn't return any results.

Does anyone have a solution (besides returning the Neo)? TIA!

I've had the Spotlight issue twice now - I didn't get any results to my searches. Both times I fixed it by simply rebuilding the index. In System Settings > Spotlight > Search Privacy...", I added my main drive to that list. I then gave it a moment (I believe I just exited System Settings and started it again). Then I removed my main drive from the list. After a while the index was rebuilt and I could find content.

I'm not sure why Tahoe is more vulnerable to damaged indexes than prior OS versions. Of course, Spotlight has been worked on quite a bit in this version of the OS. I suppose if you have third-party importers which are misbehaving, and Apple doesn't take proper care handling errors from them, then a corruption could be possible. I believe the importers can be seen in System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions. At the bottom, in the "By Category" section under Spotlight, you'll see the importers that you're allowing to run.

When Spotlight gets damaged in this way even tools like "EasyFind" and "Find Any File" won't find content results within files of a certain types. For example, both of those tools count on the spotlight index to query for content inside PDF files. You can see this pointed out on https://findanyfile.app/ which has the quote:

And with the option to include Spotlight results, it can also find text in PDF documents as long as they were indexed by Spotlight.

It was a shocking revelation when I couldn't search my PDF files for content using either of those tools when my Spotlight index was broken.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! I have never experienced something like this, going back to Leopard. Funnily enough a simple restart fixed the issue, but I have this saved in case it happens again.

For what it's worth, I have not installed any 3rd party apps on the Neo yet. The only importers are from Garage Band. Has to be some sort of weird Tahoe bug. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Are you using Time Machine? I've encountered a lot of Spotlight issues related to that.

Last week, I received my first MacBook after not having used a MacBook (but wanting one) after retiring my Early 2011 MBP a couple of years ago. I'm now a proud owner of an M5 MBA 15".

Which means I haven't been using any MacOS version above 10.13 High Sierra! šŸ˜±šŸ˜€

And I must say, I LOVE using MacOS Tahoe.

It's very much in line with iOS/iPadOS, I didn't have any usability issues, felt right at home.

You're probably right to say "Well, you're not a "real" MacOS user, you've just been iOSsified!".
However, the way I see it, that's the way Apple wants it to be, and I can see the benefit for the users who are used to using iOS/iPadOS and are adding a Mac to their Apple lineup.

I've not stumbled over any bugs yet, installed 26.4 yesterday, and the MBA runs even smoother than on 26.3.

Long story short: I'm happy with Tahoe.
