Any audio people know of any compatibility issues with 10.3.4 and ProTools?? I'm currently running PT 6.4. Sometimes OS X updates can be devistating to ProTools. . .

Still can't use Safari for bill pay with Wachovia Bank. Any ideas why?? I have to use Explorer, but that is the only site I visit that gives me any trouble.

Hi,
It works fine (and has worked fine) for me. What is Safari saying? Where does it stop working? I've done it successfully on a iMac 1ghz, dual G4 800, G4 867, and a 1.5ghz PB with every version of Safari from 1.0 and whatever version of Mac OS X that has been out since it. (I just say that to illustrate the variety here, plus a friend uses an older iBook.)

Perhaps we can figure out why it would work for me and not you. I have Java, Javascript and plug-ins active. I enter it from the "http://www.wachovia.com/myaccounts/" page.

Does the other stuff (e.g. OneStop, brokerage, banking) work for you?

What URL does it try to send you to with Bill Pay?
(It does work with IE and Mozilla too, by the way. I just tried them too.)

You'll learn that alot of things aren't done for practically, rather for bragging rights.

For example, I'v though of overclocking my 15 MHz TI-83 Silver calculator.

...

LOL I almost died just now.. I have a ti-85 i wouldn't mind bumping up, but im afraid of the extra heat production. ;)

installed a few hours back, seems to be snappier.

Is it just me or do the colours of Safari (the brushed metal) and the aqua blue colour that appears when you browse a drop down menu or something, suddenly seem different?

I noticed this too, on my G3 900 iBook. The calibration of my display was way, way off.

I recalibrated, and it is fine now.

yea... I've got a spare Pentium 90MHz chip lying around here some where, I was thinking about that ( :eek: :D :cool: ). Just put that bad boy onto a mother board, hook up a color LCD screen +ram+video card+USB, and you've just made the worlds fastest calculator. The only reason I have a Silver is so I can run heavy apps on it. I use my TI-86 for the real math, it's slightly better (except the proc speed) and has more functions/equasions.

Has anybody experinced any problems running their iDisk? I can't seem to get mine to connect; I'll try again later...

hey mate, I don't think this is a bug, i think its just you, I never have problems with the finder and drag and drop. You might need to fix your system.

I have also had this problem since upgrading to Panther. So have a few of my friends.

Looks like all .Mac things like mail and iDisk aren't working, and since I use my .mac e-mail, my iChat isn't working either. :(

How does this Mail reply arrow work?

Scenario:
Reply to a received email.
Click on little arrow - note that it pops up your reply.
Move the received email to another folder (as many people do to organize their mail).
Click on little arrow - pull out your hair as ridiculous message pops up saying the reply can't be found.

Is there a Preference setting for this?
When I click on my arrows, nothing happens... :confused:

G4 eMac 1G 10.3.3
iMac Snow 500 10.2.8

8550 G3/266 10.2.8
Umax C500 8.6
Classic II 7.5.3

Skickies odd behavior after update.

Someone please confirm that this is new. I used to be able to stack my stickies and have them separate when using exposé, but now if the stickies are the same color, they just show that color and not a separate sticky for each one that is open. So if I have 3 yellow stickies stacked or not when I use exposé I only see one yellow sticky with no title or name or anything.

It worked before the update now it makes stickies even more useless.
Oh well.

At least everything else seems to work better.

:(

Everything is good here on a 2x2Ghz G5 with 20" ACD.

Tho, it does seem the frame rate in Halo took it in the nose a little bit. Anyone notice this, too? This is with the stock ATI 9600 vid card.

They aren't kidding about the improved OpenGL and ATI performance, I just bumped up the particle density on the screen effect I am using as my desktop background by nearly 20% but it is running faster than before on 10.3.3.

Login and logout are insanely fast now, as well as loading the Finder in the beginning. This is awesome.

nope. it's right in my applications folder.
maybe this has something to do with it:
a couple weeks back, safari was acting funny and not letting me into certain pages. that was v1.2.1. in order to fix it i had to wipe it and reinstall from apple. when i did this, the latest version i could find was v1.2.
maybe since i don't have 1.2.1, it's not updating me to 1.2.2?
what can i do about this?

3 Pages of posts later, and nobody's responded. :D

I'd suggest you use the 10.3.4 Combo Updater found here:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxcombinedupdate.html

Faster. Better. Beautiful. Thank you APPLE.

Never without ways to make things better, Apple has done a doozy with this one.

Safari is absolutely amazing, it was already incredibly fast, now it boggles the mind. Not only that, but the M-Audio Audiophile USB unit that I have been having continous problems with appears to work flawlessly now (of course it still needs more testing).

The entire OS seems slightly faster, including finder. I had many problems with the multiple file drag and drog with Apple. I solved them a while ago when I overwrote the OS.

For those of you who seem to have out-of-the-way problems on systems where other people do not report the same problem, or where only a handful of people report the problem, be sure to run an archive and install. In my experience Apple machines typically come with bad installations and the OS seems a a little finicky about being installed. After archiving and installing most of a large number of problems I was having were solved.

I really don't have any complaints about this upgrade. Apple solved many, many problems I was having by releasing this. I'm looking forward to testing the Network improvements, as I work at a design firm that is 95% Mac, and I use the networking assets of OS X constantly.

I think the only things I'm looking for in a new upgrade are the following:
1) Actually make iChat-AIM Audio/Video conferencing work. My iChat doesn't even display the option to connect.
2) The Dock/Brightness Button/Random problem really.. really needs to be solved. It is exceedingly annoying.
3) iChat has some serious problems with identities. I had a friend who was at home, but was away at his screenname at home. He left himself online at work where, for whatever reason, he never went idle. iChat absolutely REFUSED to allow me to message his home screenname. I tried rearranging the names in the Info window and in Address Book, nothing worked. I've noticed some other identity problems as well. I'm looking for a window that pops up to ask me which screenname I want to message, I think that would work well, similiar to the way that they ask you what form of chat you want to have if you click on someone who has audio/visual/textual capabilities.

That's a short list? Isn't it?

Anyway, hooray for Apple. :cool:

I too was having problems dragging and dropping multiple items. I reinstalled but did not install mouseworks (mouse driver for kensington mouse) and haven't seen that problem since. Maybe a clue?

For what it's worth, just updated my 1.25 GHz 17" iMac and she's running fine - faster login/logout times (at least it seems that way), and Safari seems to be running smoother too. Of course, it could just be me... ;)

Anyway, no problems or complications at all to report on my end of things!

No problems so far with the update

In case anyone is interested, here are the before & after version numbers for the applications listed as updates in the description for 10.3.4:

Stickies: 3.0->4.2
Safari: 1.2.1->1.2.2
Mail: 1.3.7->1.3.8
Address Book: 3.1.1->3.1.2
QT: 6.5.1->unchanged

Quicktime is the only app whose version number is the same.

Also, regarding the strange Stickies version bump-up, some people have said that one of the few new features available is Check Spelling As You Type. Well, I was able to do that under 10.3.3 :confused:

For those who said Safari's brushed metal and blue highlighted menus looked as though they're a different color... I took screenshots before and after updating to 10.3.4- nothing changed for me.

Here's before then after...

I'm not on 10.3.4 yet, cuz my PB's @ school, but I beg to differ after looking at your photos. The pinstripes look more prominent and the blue and metal have something different about them. Can't quite name it yet though.

My stickies no longer work...

app says it is version 2.1

i checked and repaired permissions... is there anything else i can do?

very strange... i have alot of info in my stickies!!!
help!

r.

edit: never mind i fixed it. copied the stickies program from another updated computer and it works fine. for some reason stickies did not update on my computer, a brand new ibook.

it works i'm happy.

Safari Colors

The pinstriping seems a little more prominent, as it was virtually unnoticable before. I don't notice any change in colors though.. Seems the same as it was before.

Anyone care to compare color values?
Two colors each (due to striping)

RGB - 48,100,178 and 49,100,179
HEX - 3064B2 and 3164B3
CMYK - 78,49,7,0 and 77,48,7,0

Those are the values I see now, can anyone get the values for the previous version?

Bold fonts are now "double bolded"

I just installed 10.3.4 and now fonts on my system seem to be double thinkness when text is bolded. I know it sounds weird, but if a font is bold (ie: the headlines in white with a red background at the home of this site) it appears extra bold and a little fuzzy. I can't figure out how to undo it and I can't stand it! Anyone else have this problem? or how to fix it? thanx in advance.

Awsome. This resolved many of the issues I had with iSync and backup. Really nice. A couple of more problems gone. Now I really have to look for things that annoy me ;)
No, seriously, kudos to Apple for consistently improving this OS. That's one reason I switched too.
