I am sick of all these OSX updates and security fixes. Considering it takes at least 3 minutes to install and reboot from these updates, multiply that by at least 5 million OSX 10.3 users and we have collectively wasted 15 million minutes, or 28.5 years!

Screw Apple. Can't they release a new dot release that carries throughout it's entire shelf life? Such massive wastes of everybody's time doesn't bode well for a company with an already 1.8% market share.

dunno if I am going to like two finger scrolling on the trackpad . . . single finger scrolling via sidetrack works beautifully.

I TOTALLY notice the trackpad two finger / "sloppy trackpadding" issue has been resolved. I dunno why this angered me so much. I would be typing a doc, and then either my cursor would be at a different place, or I just delete a buunch of it. My fingers seem like avg size, not too big or anything, but everyonce in a while, my thumb would brush it and throw me off . . . thanks apple!

A tad bitter, are we?

Your post amused me, although I think you might just be serious

Troll alert! :p

Yeah, and windoze users have no downtime each year from viruses, defrags and patches...

dude! your suggestion and my willingness to calculate it on my dell xp machine has caused it to melt into a pool of metal and plastic on the carpeted floor!

WOW performance - I amnot sure but it does seem like less choppiness occurs - IF and griffin flight. Will play more and see for sure...

uControl (3rd party app) stops working after the update. Probably a newer version needed. I am using 1.4.4 right now which is currently the newest.
It's probably because uControl is a low-level hack...the sort of thing you'd expect to break with a Mac OS X update.

Erm, it's *research*, right? :D Come back with benchmarks. Or at least stories of your tremendous bravery when you trounced those orcs. ;)

Updated and all smooth running here. I did repair permissions afterwards and there was a somewhat long list. 4 or 5 things (more than normal) and I had just repaired yesterday. :)

And give away the killer app on the brand new, blazing fast PowerBooks????!!!???? Are you mad???? That 2 finger dealie is the pinacle of computing!! They can't just give it away! Gotta shell out the big bucks to upgrade my 1.33GHz 12" w/ 1.25Gig RAM clunker for that amazing, oh-so-necessary update..

Back to the G5 PB forums.

I've heard a few rum's that two-finger scrolling is a possibility on the older PBs, and I was kind of hoping it might be true with this update... :(

YAYYYYY WOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! PANT PANT Can't wait. :D :D :D :D :D

I lost a significant amount of work because of that problem. So I'm excited! I had discovered tho sometimes it would come back after a 30 second wait or reclosing the lid a few times.

PS Rare??????? Since when has daily been rare???

Your wish has been granted

You might want to fiddle with the defines a bit to make it feel right. There's a thread at Ars that gives some good suggestions (the iPod style two finger scroll wheel mode is really cool).

I find setting the rotate sensitivity to -5 works well for me. Take the warning aobut crashing seriously! If anything failes reload the standard kext before touching that trackpad.

Yeah... not a big deal as I only remapped the Enter key on my iBook to the fn key but... still...

unless Apple made hardware changes to the trackpad in the latest revision...

Yup, it's a completely different trackpad (see the posts by the guy who created Sidetrack for details). But that's okay, because a similar feature can be hacked into the older ones anyway.

Hmmm... processor temperature actually increased after rebooting... not a good sign... otherwise it's seems fine, I would almost say - wait for it - snappier... :D

Wow

Wow - who put the trojan horse in his pants? Maybe he is still using AOL dial up! :p

Wow..this update has completely raped my ut2k4 performance on my G5.

Good job apple, now I can't play the game due to horrible fps.

Oh and on top of that, my G5 squeaks now.

Sadly, I don't think you are joking ( hence no emotions)

Use something else then.

Most people would agree it is good support from Apple when they fix bugs and security issues.

A totally secure and bug free OS is not going to happen, your living in dream land.

How much time of your life did you waste writing your post? How many people's time have you wasted by letting people read your whining and bitching?

Its really funny to me that WoW is big enough that there's an OS update which specifically mentions improving performance on that one game as an addressed issue. Lalalala, that's random. But it made me smile, even though I don't play Warcraft.

Steve Plays Warcraft!
That's the thing I Love about Apple,
Steve actually Uses the software!
Steve uses the IWork software.
Steve uses the ILife software... :)

The only thing that really works on Windows is Outlook.
Bill reads email. :(

That's why I keep my important documents, family movies and photos on an Apple.

Thanks Steve.

Nothing in the update that addressed any problem I experienced. I guess I'll install it in the next day or two. I'll have to wait until I get home to check how long it has been since my last reboot :)

NOOOOO!!! PROBLEMS!

On my powerbook 1gHz Ti i can't preview songs from iTunes Music Store anymore! it just closes out, no crash, no quit warning, just BLIP! GONE! AAAAGHGGHHHGGHH!H!!!!!

Rare my ass. That was a pain. Thank goodness no applications were open with unsaved data...
