Installed... Everything seems to be fine, except one odd thing...

Look (Pic): I just logged in and I have most of my RAM used up, usually, more than half is free right after a login... Strange...

The blue is the "nice" memory..The memory thats released when a process quits..
I'm guessing spotlight is re-doing it's thing..
Repair permissions with disk utility then restart..

Anybody know yet why it's coming in at two different sizes? Mines 97 MB while I've heard others say theirs is only 53 MB.

i may be wrong but i believe the package size is different depending on what you already have installed.. example if you have previous sercurity updates installed etc... thus the more up to date systems would only need the 50mb dl while the not so up to date would need the 90mb download.. lets see what i need.. i just reinstalled tiger on my brand new dualcore 2.3 :)

Tibook Brightness

Anyone with a TiBook/iBook care to report about the brightness key issue being solved yet? My 1Ghz TiBook hasn't worked since updating to Tiger.

I think that I am going to hold off on this one for a day or two. I just have a bad feeling about this. I am sure that if there are any issues, they will surface here within an hour or two.

Looking forward to hearing the issues.

Man, that restart took ages...

And 10.4.3 has killed MainMenu and AcidSearch... :(

But it left Taboo (uses the same framework as AcidSearch) and Mail's GPG Mailbundle...

I'm having a bad feeling about this...

My G5 iMac downloaded a 56.8 mb update. What is with the discrepancies in file sizes?!
I'd guess that the 56.8MB file is a delta upgrade from 10.4.2, where that 97MB file is the full update from a previous (10.4.1 or 10.4.0) version.

My iMac G5 DL'd the 56.8MB version, and I previously had 10.4.2 running.

From the details page on Apple's site: "Disables Quartz 2D Extreme—Quartz 2D Extreme is not a supported feature in Tiger, and re-enabling it may lead to video redraw issues or kernel panics."

As long as it leaves mail appetizer alone I am happy.

Brightness Button

Never had any issues with my 1Ghz iBook G4 with the brightness buttons, and there are still no problems, cross your fingers i guess :)

Thanks, yeah, I think it was spotlight. There was a period where there was a lot of disk activity, so I'm assuming it was spotlight...

And now, I complain... Ahem...

DAMN YOU APPLE! WHY THE F*** WON'T YOU FIX THIS!
Picture 3.jpg:mad:

Mine is 109mb.

This is from a fresh install of Tiger 10.4.0. I am doing the update on my external drive.
