Likely to have another seed tomorrow? Seems Apple's on it's weekly seed update cycle at the moment, prior to going silent for a month or so...
Do we know how far in advance they have to freeze the codebase for production? "September" is only about 4-8 weeks away...

I think we should see the RC status by mid-august, that's probably when all the quietness starts til the final release in late Sept.

I hope we'll see another seed tomorrow night.

Be too, based on the release schedule thus far. I hope we get one or two more updates before the freeze. With nice new eye candy to look at. :D

Have they been Thursday nights, or Fridays? I don't remember.

I think we're done in terms of eye candy. I don't see what else that can be changed now.

hibernate? and how i can "hibernate"¿? its not a laptop

Doesn't have to be a laptop. When your computer goes to sleep, it has sleep/hibernate function. When it loses power while its sleeping, it'll boot up from hibernate.

I'm sure this works on desktop macs as well.

I'm hoping the new seed brings some new visual tweaks. The last seed was pretty boring with just desktop backgrounds as the only major visual change.

It's turned off on desktops due to the simple fact that desktops does not have a reserve power backup. Once the power is lost, it's a total sudden shutdown. Now this change if the desktop have a UPS next to it, UPS nowaday has a usb port that's smart enough to inform the desktop to start turning itself down in event of a total power failure.

Laptops always have a reserve power backup (the actually battery itself) and so it has a safe sleep mode where once the battery hits a low power threshold, it'll start hibernating the laptop.

Fridays for some people.;)

Heh, I did say EST.

I am hoping for more visual tweaks as well. The last seed was a major milestone for Apple as it contained the final kernel image. The changes from now on should only be bugs and simple GUI fixes. One simple tweak that'll make the rest of the Internet happy is to get rid of the Aqua scrollbars, the entire internet will be blogging about this for weeks bringing up free publicity for Apple leading to the final Snow Leopard release. :p

Good to know, thanks.

For reference, the ones not fixed the second time are here in code tags to shorten the length of the post:

I have the exact same issue. These can't be fixed, because what was formerly a file is now a symbolic link, and you can't change a symbolic link into a file.

Example:
Code:
Permissions differ on "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreAUC.framework/Versions/A/CodeResources", should be [B]-rw-r--r--[/B] , they are [B]lrw-r--r--[/B] .

Yes it can be fixed, by updating the permission DB like they did in 421a. You're right that you can't change a soft link into a file but it has nothing to do with repairing permissions. They simply forgot to update the DB for the files that were changed.

An aqua scrollbar replacement would be great, but I don't like the flattened ones found in iTunes and the other "i" apps.

has anyone else experienced more and more mailapp crashes since the update where they included dockexpose?

mine crashes like all the time

After boot with bootcamp partition with windows 7, i restart to boot snow leopard, and this loading appeared. What is? It takes more than 5 minutes.

dsc00190y.jpg

looks exactly like my girls macbook did when her hdd crashed...
it went into a loop where the bar appeared over and over again only progressinc like 1cm everytime.

I jut ordered the up to date snow leopard copy for 10$ from apple. Is this is a one time install or can be installed on both my computers? I know Leopard family packs that have "5" installs can actually be installed more times, same with a single use. Is the up-to date copy any different?

I know these types of questions make some of you mad so feel free to PM me if you would like. thank you

It can legally be installed on one system. For $10 maybe you should not be a pirate and buy it for each system....

I have a question: will all the apps that work on Leopard work on Snow Leopard as well?

I posted in the 10A421a topic, but i'll quote my post here : :)

I don't know when the next build is expected (and maybe the last one before sending this version to DVD burning), but I just hope they will not leave Spaces in this state…

This is the last thing annoying for me : Switching between spaces with the keyboard when you have windows opened is no more fluid as it can be with leopard, and when you have Application assigned in specific Spaces opened… you need to click twice on their icon in the dock to make them come to foreground…

Or I am the only one with this problem, and a clean 10A421a will resolve this

Do you guys have any problems with Spaces ?

And I am looking forward to see Safari plugins like Glims or adblock being updated to 64bits, and some PrefsPanes too…

FYI for everybody, Snow Leopard is available for pre-order at Amazon for 29$. Got mine for 32$ shipped with Prime 2nd day shipping.

Did anyone who did the Up-to-Date pre-order also get a random 10 dollar-ish charge? I'm wondering if it's going to ship soon because Apple just charged me for something and I haven't bought anything recently in the store.
