coverflow in trash

Has anyone else noticed that Leopard shows the trash in coverflow now? It's pretty cool. The whole trash interface is updated. It even has an "empty" button while the file is open. It seemed weird to me that Tiger didn't have that. One more thing to love about Leopard. :)

My Inbox is FULL - ok not really, but check out the message count. All other mail boxes work/count normally.

I thought this was a fun bug to share.

Can someone compare how smoothly Leopard runs on a machine with 128M vram compared to a machine with 256M? (Is there a way to measure it -- some kind of benchmarking program, perhaps?)

(Please feel free to move this post to a suitable thread if necessary)

Here's one I haven't seen, until I installed Leopard. In iChat, when someone on your buddy list is using AOL mobile, their status button turns gray and a WiFi symbol appears next to their name.

Unmounting Disk Images

Is anyone having issues unmounting disk images? yesterday I had to reboot my MB just get rid of the Google Earth disk image after installing (By the way, it seems to work a lot smoother on 10.5)

Nice upgrade, except for Front Row

I've been waiting for Apple to fix this on the Apple TV only to find they screwed this up on Leopard!!! No longer will it divide your TV shows into seasons. It just lumps it all into one big frickin' list!!! I have several TV series loaded, like South Park, and instead of having 10 folders with each of the seasons separated, I have a big list of over 140 episodes. This is really stupid.

Other than that the only other issues I've had are:

1.) Yahoo! widgets no longer work.

2.) Sherlock is gone... I know it's been crippled for a while, but it was a nice app and I used it quite a bit.

Other than that it's pretty cool, but the Front Row thing is major for me since I have tons of TV shows loaded. And this is just a stupid UI decision.

I've had similar issues. Reinstalled vmware and couldn't unmount the disk image without rebooting

Resolution Independence?

I found this new option on the bottom in Preview. When turned on, the image scales a little when I move the Preview window from my Macbook's screen over to my Dell (extended desktop). Since my external monitor has only 100 ppi (Macbook has 130), the picture in Preview appears to be smaller on the external monitor; But actually, it's the same size in terms of inches (or centimeters).

With iTunes v7.4.2 (4) - could work with older versions

The whole thing for TV shows is hinged on the Show name and no need to set as compilation.

For example "24 - Season 1" and "24 - Season 2" as the show name will separate these episodes for you if the list is sorted by "Show".

Hope that helps.

Nobody will ever be satisfied. I haven't been through any os release where there were NOT complainers and whiners.

I think Leopard is a great Upgrade and its underpinnings will start showing up more and more in new software releases.

I am definitely disappointed with it. Very disappointed.
Not whining, there are just so many things wrong with it. changes are one thing, many of which i don't like at all like Stacks, which are very badly implemented. Bugs and lack of testing is another thing. leopard is very buggy.
there are hundreds if not thousands of complaints of the graphics errors that i am having as well. the graphics system in leopard is very flawed.

maybe they will have an update ready this week. i hope they do because otherwise this is the first time i will be downgrading my Mac OS :(
i have never felt the need before. but leopard is poorly done and obviously rushed out the door unfinished. even tiny things like when you minimize a quicktime movie into the dock ------ IT DOESN'T play anymore. things like that are littered all over leopard. i remember at a macworld keynote when steve jobs was showing off the quicktime movie playing in the dock and how cool that was. why ---- WHY would they just remove a feature like that??
and no that isnt a major feature but like i said before, there are tons of things like that that are just deleted from leopard. and the visual things they did add are counterproductive for the most part for the majority of Mac users. it isnt just change, it is a BAD change

Most Adobe Apps Are Leopard-compatible

Looking at the software compatibility lists - I'm going to have to wait a while before moving to Leopard. I rely on too many of those "problem" apps for work. CS3 updates won't be out until January...

You may have been misinformed. Check out this article:
http://www.macworld.com/news/2007/10/26/adobelopard/index.php?lsrc=mwrss

According to MacWorld, most Adobe CS3 apps are already compatible with Leopard and require no update. The following Adobe apps do need to be updated: Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, Adobe Reader 8, Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3 Professional, Encore CS3 and Soundbooth CS3.

Yes, Quicktime movie stops when put in the dock. Darn. Not a life-changer for me and I anticipate this will change.

Disappointing

I was already completely impressed with all of the previous OS X releases. So its hard to go up from there.

This upgrade is basically for Apple zealots who think that anything Apple does is perfect and for new soccer mom types who have switched from Windows over the past 2 years. For those of us who use these professionally, not much to offer. Speed seems to be slower on both of my machines and all of the new features are mere eye candy, rather than offering new functionality that will assist in my workflow. However, its an 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' type situation, because I was happy with the past versions and saw no major flaws.

I'm disappointed with the speed, I had issues installing and in general this OS gets away from Apple's focus on superb usability with less extra junk cluttering your drive, so I'm giving it a 4 out of 10 in the poll on the other tread. I've had applications crash (Safari/Mail regularly). Spaces is great, but that's about all it has to offer. Apple seems to be focused on eye candy, which is sad because usability has suffered.

Loving the mosiac screensaver, having to show it to everyone though is getting annoying lol

Overall i have mixed feelings about leopard, on one hand there are certain aspects that i'm finding i like which before just from the keynote demos, the video guides etc i thought i wouldn't, the new finder being the prime example, however i'm still looking for something to hit me and just go wow, something to justify all the hype, admittedly i'm not using TM at the moment, so when i do maybe that'll do it for me, or maybe one of the updates will bring something new.

And then there are things i do like alot about it, the new dock, stacks, mail being the ones to come to mind, how many people can say they have trouble seeing which apps are open amazes me to be honest

If you have trouble seeing that, i would recommend seeing a eye specialist, it's bright enough, if anything i find it to bright.

Well thats my opinion, i'm enjoying Leopard, but i'm still waiting for that knockout punch to bowl me over

did you change your Mail icon? mine is still the same one from 10.4... just wondering if you changed yours (which is think is much cooler than mine) or if that is the actual 10.5 Mail icon that for some reason didn't get installed on my mac.

i thought i already addressed any need for a reply on this, as i gave that example only as a single example of the hundreds of bugs and pulled-features that are in Leopard. no, that feature alone is not life threatening. but when you take a truckload of small features like that, add in a bunch of instability and obviously slack on testing on the relatively small range of products Apple has to be compatible with ----- that is not a good 'upgrade'.

I was just lamenting on it. I didn't know it didn't work till you posted. It surprised me.

:)
ya surprised me too. i hate to just keep saying the same thing but it seems like when i poke around in leopard, those little things seem to popup all over the place. lots of missing or dysfunctional little things keep adding up to an increasing number of big things

.........in addition to all of the already big things that they seemed to mess up like the major graphics problems and so on

Ya, that should work. It's not the solution I really want since it'll be a pain in the rear to go into iTunes and change everything, but I think what you propose is a good work around. Thanks!

iCal

Perhaps it did this before, and I just never noticed. iCal shows a a line for the current time of day. Handy to see if something is coming up!

PS - Is anyone else having trouble distinguishing their finder windows in Coverflow and iTunes? I keep getting frustrated when iTunes doesn't show what's on my desktop :)
