Ordered on Amazon

My copy just shipped a few minutes ago from Amazon. Should be here early next week.

Count me among the annoyed. I ordered it literally the MINUTE the Apple Store came back online on Monday and according to my tracking info... it was only just scanned in Toronto this morning. There's no way it'll arrive today (half way across the Country). The only reason I pre-ordered was so that it would be on my doorstep on Friday. That has been the case in the past. If I had known... I wouldn't have bothered. I would have just swung by the Best Buy or Future Shop on the way home from work :-( I'm tempted to do that anyway but don't feel like paying twice.

I ordered mine 3 months ago!

And it's still not even shipped yet!

Did you order for $35 or $14?

I ordered late on Wednesday (less then 48 hours ago) and it arrived this morning.

The nearest I got to a snow leopard today...

For all those suckers in the UK who pre-ordered (me included) - this is the only Snow Leopard I saw today...;)

Nice little touch I hadn't read about...Quicktime/iTunes-defined poster frame is now used as the Finder icon for video files. Makes my folder full of ripped DVDs look like a folder of ripped DVDs, and my folder full of home movies look like a folder of home movies. Also can play the video directly from the icon in the Finder (which I had read about).

LOVING IT! Upgraded my Macbook perfectly fine. Everything is snappier. I really liked that effect when switching spaces. All the little touches are really nice.

To install the 64bit windows drivers (for vista or windows 7 64) off the snow leopard disc, you have to click start, type cmd in the search box. right click on cmd.exe and choose run as administrator. Then go through command prompt to bootcamp/drivers/apple/ then run bootcamp64.msi from the command prompt. then it should install as normal.

If flip4mac doesn't work, then I don't think I can upgrade since I watch a lot of win media videos. Can you still run the old quicktime?

VLC plays every video file I've ever asked it to - unless you're watching them through the browser then just use VLC until flip provides an update...

I've seen Quicktime 7 open on mine for some reason even though I don't think I chose to install that when I did the upgrade.

I don't think it ever said that it will be delivered on the 28th for Canada. When the order status was "Prepared for Shipping", it only claimed that it will be "Shipped by 28th August", not shipped for that date.

I also pre-ordered within the first hour and it was checked in Toronto this morning at 5am. With the weekend coming up I only will expect the purolator truck to arrive monday or tuesday.

fail.

Pah, Walked like a zombie to the retail store and got my disk.

my 2008 Black Macbook with 500GB disk and 4GB ram won't upgrade. :(

Some time ago I replaced the 160GB disk with a new 500GB disk. I used super duper to move the internal disk onto the bigger drive whilst it was in a caddy and then ploped it into the machine - hey presto.

Snow Leopard won't let me pick the internal drive to install as its says its using the apple partition scheme instead of GUID scheme for some reason.

So my only option is to super duper onto another disk which i'd need to buy (my time machine is on a win 2300 server share - don't think you can restore from network locations on installation ?) and then reformat the internal disk making sure it has the GUID-style table and then super duper back from the external disk.

That kinda sucks and I don't have the time to deal with this kind of stuff at the moment.

It didn't 'just work' LOL my first complaint in 2 years after starting using Apple kit so not too bad I guess.

Anyone know a non-destructive way of switching partition schemes ? iPartition can do it but only on the non booted disk :(

How do you get movies to play in the icon!!?? It's not working by hovering over it for me..

Is it just me or is MSN Messenger not working properly again? When I open a conversation I start typing and nothing shows up. I press on the message box many times and try typing, I don't see the cursor nor anything that I typed.

It did not say that... you're correct. However, when I pre-ordered Leopard online it arrived on the release date. So I was expecting the same thing this time around. Mine was also scanned in TO around 5am. I imagine Purolator just picked up one giant shipment. Should be here Mon or Tue I imagine. Kind of a drag... but whatever. It just bugs me that I could go out to Future Shop and pick it up now... but since I pre-ordered... now I have to wait.

Just finished installing on my Mid '08 MBP. Everything seems to be working fine. iStat Pro for some reason isn't allow to work right now ( I have the one in the top menu bar). Also, My power saving options for my battery has disappeared once again ~_~. Was so happy when that came back for me in 10.5.7 or 10.5.8.... can't remember but now it's gone and I miss it lol. Overall things seem to be "Snappier" but I don't think 64-bit is what is running. I think it's 32-bit :/ Took me almost 1 hour to install >_< But I guess it was worth the wait :D

Glad they changed the default gamma to 2.2

This may be why a lot of people report the graphics looking nicer. The higher gamma makes black darker and thus colors appear richer.

I pre-ordered mine the day they announced and it arrived via FedEx @ 1:33 PM. Perhaps those who ordered first got theirs, while those who pre-ordered yesterday or Wednesday will wait another day.

BTW, I got another copy at Best Buy this morning. I got two, as if one isn't enough.

Those of you guys who have received it today, could you check your order status and see if Snow Leopard shows as shipped and if it does, when did it ship?

I wonder is some people are going to receive it today even though their status shows "Not yet shipped." Perhaps, Apple is not updating the status on time.

ordered direct from Apple, and the tracking said it shipped yesterday. Arrived this afternoon. I live in the northeast US

...and now every SL user with default calibrated display edits their photos to crap. More contrast on display --> less contrast on file. Unless one knows better.

Oh, well... photo pro will still calibrate to 1.8 just as before.

Picked it up earlier, and installed without any issues.

Its definitely much snappier - things like iTunes, iPhoto, iCal all opening in a single bounce.

Had to install Rosetta to run Fireworks MX 04, but that was painless, and first impressions are it opens and runs faster - its the programme I use regularly that has always seemed sluggish under Leopard.

Liking the tweaks to the Dock / Expose / Stacks - especially minimising into the App icon in the Dock. Then the choice of clicking to see them as a list, or right clicking to see then in Expose.

And our machine gained a whopping 14GB in HD space - way more than the 6GB they advertised.

One quick question - will the Microsoft Exchange support enable Mail to send read receipts to Outlook users? Bug bear of a PITA friend of my Dad.

  • The dnssd backend could crash (STR #3272)
  • The 1284 device ID sometimes contained trailing garbage (STR #3266)

  • The scheduler did not do local job-hold-until processing for remote queues (STR #3258)

  • Fixed a HTML error in the add and modify printer web interface templates (STR #3229)
  • The scheduler did not minimize the number of printer state events that were generated by filter STATE: messages, which could lead to poor performance.
