Does he actually know anything? Probably not. But that's what he said.
Hey, that is better than the response I got.

I was told the usual, "during the first half of the year."

CTU?!!!! Jack Bauer here!... Patch me thru to Mr. Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer!!!

Mr. Jobs!!! I'm Jack Bauer of the United States Government... I'm at a trade show, and we have reason to believe that terrorists have stolen a harddrive containing a top-secret version of your software!!! Serial Number 8A428. We have reason to believe the terrorists intend to, again, do something bad at the top of the hour with it. They're going to share it over the Internets and bring the whole US economy to a standstill. Oh, and we have reason to believe FileVault wasn't enabled!

Deet.

Doot.

Deet.

Doot.

Do you know what is sad.....when tiger does eventually come, people here will just be relieved. i know i will be. Cos i am getting quite tired of these speculations with no results...doesnt happen often in the mac rumour world.
We will have to wait and see...

What could possibly remain to be done before Apple's retail Tiger announcement?

Someone mentioned an possible answer to that question in this thread:

CaptainHaddock said:
A poster on Slashdot who knew some Apple beta testers said that the delayed Tiger announcement is partially due to an unspecified new Apple product that only runs Tiger (and not previous versions of OS X).

Allegedly, Apple would like Tiger to be in stores around the same time this new hardware is announced, because otherwise Apple rumour-mongers will be doing string searches on Tiger system files and discover the new product before Apple is ready.

Very interesting.

To anybody at the show: can you get a list of devices that will work with iSync in 10.4? Will Motorola phones sync over bluetooth work? Oh man, I hope so...

Lmao, you def. nailed the writing of the show with that one ("we have reason to believe", "top of the hour" are both phrases that are probably on constant copy, ready to be pasted into the script anytime a writer's block occurs) I totally heard Kiefer Sutherland's raspy "I do Ford commericals" voice reading that one out in my head.

I wish Apple would do SOMTHING! At least release the 10.3.9 update

For real. Where the heck is the 10.3.9 update which was rumored to be finished a couple of weeks ago, but still hasn't shown up in my Updater?

And I'm sick of waiting for 10.4, too. It seems that Apple has had everything wrapped up for at least a week, and they're even showing it publically at expos like the FOSE. What the heck could there possibly be left to do? Just release the darn thing already and address whatever bugs or issues remain in a 10.4.1 update.

perhaps we should all learn about patience. Simon Patience.:p

Simon Patience

Senior Director, Core OS

“My team is responsible for making Mac OS X the easiest-to-use UNIX-based OS in the world. For Tiger, we've changed hundreds of interfaces and made improvements that make porting easier than ever. We've added a launch on demand service and advanced system logging capabilities for system administrators. At WWDC, my team will share practical advice on how to port KEXTs, how to adopt the ASL APIs and launchd, and much more. In addition, we want to learn what else we can do to make Mac OS X the platform of choice for your UNIX development.”

Where to Find Simon at WWDC: Simon and his team will be at sessions and hands-on labs covering Core OS topics, including Darwin, and 64-bit and I/O Kit technologies in the OS Foundations track

I'm a little tired of waiting and speculating. We know it will be out soon, just not excatly when. Besides, it won't affect me because my G3 couldn't handle it and I'm buying an iMac in August. Although, once it comes out, there won't be any rumors on this website.....brings a tear to my eye. :D

What a joke. We should have heard a release date 4 days ago. And now Tiger's being exhibited? and this week's tuesday is now over.

NAB. next in line.

CTU?!!!

Jack here again... See what you can find out about a Simon Patience for me!! Have Edgar crossreference his family members against Abib Marwan's group.

I have reason to believe he may be somehow involved in the release of the harddrive.

I'll check in later, I'm about 10 minutes from the FOSE convention in Washington.

===================

Alright, I'm done with the 24 references... Carry on with the usual RELEASE IT already banter...

This is definately a step forward. Finaly Tiger is being shown in somehwat of a public way. I really hope it's out for real within a few weeks.

Sorry, but:
1. If you're sick of waiting, stop looking at rumour sites!
2. If you're not buying anything till august, then why worry? We know it will DEFINATELY be out 1H 2005, so can get it in august...!

I was at CompUSA today, and their Mac guy said that the Apple rep had told him monday that Tiger would be shipping within two weeks. And would be at their store within 3 to 4 weeks.

Here is a little interesting something I just thought of...

If Apple showed Tiger at a public show, does this mean that all NDAs on Tiger have expired?

Who can you *really* blame for that? Afterall, here you are at a rumors site.

I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just bored of waiting :( I've got abit of time off work and I find myself checking Apple.com whenever I enter the room.

I don't see why it would? Apple can do whatever the hell they like, and have already demonstrated some Tiger features. Nothing to do with the NDAs developers have to agree to.

Well they are having that big meeting at all the Apple stores about it. We'll see it any day now I bet.

I can't help myself from thinking that these guys are all laughing at us.

Are we sure they're real people? With crazy names such as "Bud Tribble" and "Simon Patience" the jokes on them.

And look at Ted Goldstein, YIKES!!! hehehe!

Edit - Too many 'lol's. I wasn't at any point laughing out loud (maybe a smirk or quiet chuckle though) so they have been removed.

then maybe someone who has not signed an NDA can go down there and give it the twice over and let us mortals know what is coming down the pipe...

I don't doubt that Tiger will be demoed at FOSE.
The real question will be is it announced there.
My gut feeling is no.
I think NAB is so much more of an Important show for Apple, I can't imagine them using FOSE as the announcement.
Then again only Apple really knows for sure.

Anyone able to attend will be able to report back with information on what Apple choose to show at the exhibition. If Tiger is not released by that date, Apple might just show spotlight and other features we already know about it.
