I did not expedite shipping or anything. Last night at about 7pm PST I received my shipping notification e-mail message from Apple. The box was picked up at about 8pm last night, placed on the FedEx Ground truck at about 5:15am this morning, and got to me a few minutes ago.


I am so excited to be back in the Mac fold after years in the wilderness! 😎

1. If it is 10.5.2? and the build number? 9C31?
2. Is the 8800GT just rippin?
3. Any issues with wake from sleep? Using UPS?

If you hadn't come here, you'd probably be getting your machine sooner than expected, and I bet you it's going to be one sweet machine!

So please don't feel that the fact that people are greedy ruins your Apple-experience. 🙂 It has nothing to do with Apple or your machine really. 🙂

Right. I'm not saying to cut in line and I totally understand that you can get the $100 and overnight shipping. I'm also not saying its wrong to ask. I'm just saying as for me and myself... I knew about the 3 week window and I don't see Apple having violated anything, therefore I don't feel right asking. That's all. No harm done, and Apple can keep their $100. Let them buy themselves something nice. 😉

Actually I'm not THAT ticked about it - it's just a little annoying more than anything else.

I'm just looking forward to installing photoshop on that monster and getting to work on some 600mb 4X5 scans 😀
 
I checked earlier this afternoon (UK time) and it still said Not Yet Shipped - checked again now and (hurrah!) it says:

Prepared for Shipment
Estimated Shipping: 14 Feb, 2008
Estimated Delivery: 18 Feb, 2008

I originally placed my order on 8th, but they cancelled it 2 days later because of some card authorisation problem. I immediately reordered on the phone 10th Jan, and got an estimated shipping date 2 days later than my original one (12th became 14th unfortunately).

At last the wait is approaching the end. The new 1TB WD GP drive should be arriving Monday - hopefully just in time!

I am pretty sure that someone else will beat me to it, but if I don't see anything in this thread I'll put up pix. My 1 1/2 lbs. of RAM from OWC arrived yesterday (w00t!), but in the interests of serving the public good I'll wait until later to install it. 😀
 
So, I think I've refreshed my shipping status page about eight million times...still no dice.

It's almost as if ole' Steve himself is just toying with me.

I called and asked for next day delivery instead and I was expecting to pay extra for it, but it was upgraded to next day for free! So, I wanted to let everyone know that Apple will upgrade the shipping for free if you call. I didn't express any dissatisfaction in the shipping time, etc., but I didn't want my computer to sit around Fed Ex over the week-end because they don't deliver on the week-ends. It has now been changed to:

Ships by: Feb 14
Delivers by: Feb 15

But, of course, I'm hoping for an earlier date just like everyone else.😉
 
Somewhere their order db must have been screwed up. I did not upgrade the HDD, so that can't be a reason for the delay like some are saying. I will give them a call today.

At least the impending shipping of the 8800-machines gives me some incentive to clean up my studio and make room for the new machine 🙂
 
Just called again. A lady named Tara Lee or something helped me and gave me $50 off. Not as much as what some people are getting, but hell, I'm happy. 😎

True. I've now ordered a new office chair, 8GB of RAM from OWC, a new monitor, two 500GB Barracudas from Newegg... and an APC will be on order next week.

Just waiting for some form of status that my MP is being packaged or anything other than "not yet shipped".

Hey Erik, are you going to run 10GB mixed or 8GB matched RAM on your machine?

I ordered 4X2 GB from OWC and figured I'd just run the paired quad and sell the 2x1 Apple RAM for what OWC is buying them for $55.
 
I'm in Kansas City, MO and still no change on my order... so I don't think Apple hates Florida... haha.

I did order the airport express card though... so maybe that's it?
2.8 quad, 8800gt, 500gb, 2gb, wifi, iWork.

Ordered Jan 16. Set to ship Feb 20, deliver by 26th.

Why wouldn't you run 10? I thought it was fine as long as you have the 4 2gig's placed right? Asking before I definitely plan to run 10, as that to me is better than 8..
