The reason I don't want any money or expediting shipping is only because I ordered my machine a week ago knowing very well that the ship date was for the end of february. I'm not going to call and ask for compensation this early in the wait while others (probably even you) have been waiting the full 4+ weeks. I just don't feel right about it, is all.

That makes more sense. I thought you had been waiting for a while too.

I just ordered, I got free overnight from Apple for my past troubles. Let's hope it ships next week. :)

Hey Erik, are you going to run 10GB mixed or 8GB matched RAM on your machine?

I ordered 4X2 GB from OWC and figured I'd just run the paired quad and sell the 2x1 Apple RAM for what OWC is buying them for $55.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the other two. I plan on keeping them, but if it slows down performance I may just get another 2x1gb or sell the 2x1gb already in the system.

i think you need them if you ever need to get your MP repaired under warranty correct me if im wrong, but when i had some problems with my macbook i called apple and they told me to replace the 3rd party ram i installed with the orginal and take it to the store

Why wouldn't you run 10? I thought it was fine as long as you have the 4 2gig's placed right? Asking before I definitely plan to run 10, as that to me is better than 8..

...And where should the 4 gig's be, to be placed right? I plan on upgrading my RAM down the road, maybe with 2x2gigs. Do I need to move the original Apple ram to place the upgraded RAM in the 'right' place?

I'm in Kansas City, MO and still no change on my order... so I don't think Apple hates Florida... haha.

I did order the airport express card though... so maybe that's it?
2.8 quad, 8800gt, 500gb, 2gb, wifi, iWork.

Ordered Jan 16. Set to ship Feb 20, deliver by 26th.

Whoops.. I mean Jan 14th. :(

That makes sense! I'm keeping the original Apple RAM now, regardless of use.

Still no change in my shipment date of Feb. 13. Ordered Jan 23 with 8800, wifi, 500gb, 2 optical drives and iWork. I'm in Ft Worth, TX.

Yea, "matched pairs" in the 1,2 on both riser cards. So take out the stock ram, fill in the matching slots on each card.

Anyway, 2x2gb won't make a matched pair though, as far as I have understood, 4x1gb would be better performancewise, but I'd go 4x2gb instead. :) (As I indeed have..)

BUT, don't take my word for any of this, I'm just talking from what I've read here and on Barefeats etc..

Printing a label and transmitting to FedEx is one thing... ACTUALLY in transit is another...

who's Mac Pro is actually on a truck or plane somewhere?

Good news my Wifi cad bretheren! I just checked my order status and I am now "prepared for shipment". Jan 8th ADC order with 8800gt, Wifi Card and quad core instead of 8core. All else standard.

So, there is hope for shipment shortly!

My Pro BTO with 8800GT has shipped too :D Arriving on or before Feb 14th. :D

Edit : originally it was shipping on the 14th.

My Phone Call

I wanted to change from the wireless to the wired keyboard, I hadn't realized that the wireless wasn't a full keyboard (needs FN key and has no number pad) they said they couldn't change it because it has already been configured.

I then asked to upgrade my shipping and he offered it free because he couldn't change the keyboard.

Shipping Date Still Feb 26th (ordered on 1/18)
Delivery Feb 28th

Man we've really got a lot of people calling apple about this shipping thing lol. I'm glad I helped stir things up!

Good call. I forgot all abou that. I'll keep them.

has anyone who ordered in February shipped yet?

Yes, someone who ordered Feb 1st already got a ship notice. I also ordered the same day and don't have an updated status. La di da.

I sure hope so... the only thing i have in addition to the 8800GT is the WiFi and I have no shipping status.

:: yawn :: this checking 100x at Apple's site is getting tiresome.

It's here!!!

Just got mine...but alas I'm @ work, so I can't play with it until I get home.

Box is a lot bigger than I expected (probably the same size as previous MacPro boxes, but this is my first mac in a long time..so it seemed bigger and heavier than expected).

Will post with my initial reactions tonight....

RAM and extra HD don't get here until tomorrow...so only 2GB to play with tonight.

Hope you all get yours soon,

D

I want to know this too. Mine "Shipped" Feb 6th but FedEx has no data for it yet.

This can be exceedingly irritating. I've had stuff come from @mazon via FedX where it said this up until the day it showed up on my front step. Bah!

As for me? Ordered Feb 4 (2.8 Octo, 8800 GT, 500 GB drive & AirPort Extreme) - Ships by Feb 26, to deliver by Mar 3. I'm in Minnesota, and I'm still looking at "Not yet shipped", and although I'm ready as ready can be for my computer, (looks at boxed-up drives, CS3, RAM neatly piled in corner...) I grew up in the midwest, and we are a patient, patient lot. ;)

Same thing happened to me. I hadn't actually looked at the wireless keyboard page and assumed the layout was similar to a wired keyboard. I need the numeric keypad and extras for Maya, etc. My order was placed through a buddy who works at Apple (hello 25% discount) and he suggested to not change the order, so I'll just pick up a wired keyboard after the fact. Still wondering if I should keep the wireless Mighty Mouse or go with a wired one (i've never used either wireless keyboards or mice before and have read about concerns with signal drops due to casings, etc.)

I am pretty sure that someone else will beat me to it, but if I don't see anything in this thread I'll put up pix.

And somebody did beat me to it: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/429257/. Ahh, the In-N-Out run was worth it!

Just in case you want more photographic proof, including of the nVIDIA card and OS build, please feel free to check out this gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/feelitmon/UnboxingTheFruit. I warn you: Most. Ghetto. Unboxing Photos. Evar.

Here are answers to some questions posed in this thread.

Q: OS version and build numbers?
A: 10.5.1 and 9B2127

Q: Is the 8800GT just rippin?
A: I don't know yet, eeek! I came here immediately to fulfill my geekly obligations.

Q: Any issues with wake from sleep? Using UPS?
A: No problems waking up from sleep so far. I know it's a terrible risk (heh) but I don't have it plugged into my UPS yet.

Q: Anything odd about the configuration?
A: Nope, other than the nVIDIA and AirPort Extreme cards. I went with base hard drive and RAM, normal shipping, etc. Oh, my last name starts with a W, for whatever that's worth. I do work close to where the shipment originated, so that may have shaved off a day.

Now I'm going to get back to it. Yours are coming soon, I'm positive! :)

Wow, I'd totally take my machine home right away and unbox that puppy. Screw work!
