Interesting... I ordered mine Feb 4, but a dual 2.8, 8800, 500 GB drive, single super drive and Airport card with the same ship date! I wonder what configuration differences are going to make the big differences in shipping.

All these variables would make one heck of a (dazzlingly uninteresting after-the-fact) pie chart or graph. :D (Currently resisting urge to check order status... resisting...resisting! Oh, who am I kidding? *click*)

I'm in the same boat Hickman. My MP is sitting about 3.3 miles away from my apartment, but no delivery attempt will be made until tomorrow. AUGH!! I did call someone from FedEx and they said that if I could get Apple to remove the "Presign for this shipment" designation, that I could swing by before 8:45pm and pick it up myself.

I figure, I really wasn't expecting it until tomorrow anyways, so tonight will give me some time to clean up my work area, obtain my extra HD, and be ready for setup tomorrow night.

Good to hear more shipments are arriving for a few of you today!

Couldn't you just give a call to FedEx and ask if you can swing by and pick it up?
 
mine was shipped feb 9th (saturday) via fedex ground (standard shipping)

Yet two days later, the tracking number on the fedex site still produces "no record". Anyone experiencing this? should i wait it out before calling?
 
My tracking info hasn't updated since they sent it to me last night

Is that normal?
So far it just says "Packing Data sent to FedEx"

I hope it updates soon.

I'll do one better... i'll be posting a split screen video with one camera on the interior of the MP with the 8800GT in sight and the other camera on the bootup process. That way you can see the noise ratios.
 
apple vs fed ex

Apple sent me an email yesterday (sunday 2/10) saying my order (1/16) was shipped on 2/10 for a 2/12 delivery. Fedex says the order shipped 2/8 for a 2/14 delivery. On the fedex tracking the box hasn't moved.

I did call them, and they told me that since Apple had designated it "Presign for this shipment", no delivery attempt had been made yet. So, i would first have to call Apple, have them drop the "presign" status, then call FedEx to see if the change went through, then I could conceivably swing by to pick it up.

I just figure that I can wait the extra day, clean up the area, get my stuff sorted out and spend tomorrow night setting up. :)

EDIT: I should mention that I don't have a car, so I'd either have to borrow my girlfriend's car, or take a cab over. Plus, by the time I get back to Bklyn after work, try to race over, get it back home, drop the car off, etc., it's pretty late in the evening as it is. Considering I already popped the extra $30 for expedited delivery, I'm going to be patient and get it the day it's scheduled to arrive. So everything's cool.

With FedEx (as well as the USPS and a couple others) I've actually experienced NO updates until AFTER my shipment has arrived at my front door. Odd? Yes. Frustrating? Absolutely!

Hang in there - I really don't think your boxes are sitting alone on a shipping dock (tumbleweeds tossing about restlessly in the background) forlorn and forgotten. Meanwhile, I'm still looking at a "Not yet shipped"! So, I feel bad for me. ('Cause, you know, it's all about me! :D)

I know... my package sat in a warehouse over the weekend a couple hours away (it was overnight delivery), but it delivered first thing this morning. It'll move and make it on time... even if you lived next door to FedEx... if you paid for 2nd night delivery, they'd probably hold it until day#2.

Update

Over the weekend, excitement happened.



I got an email stating that my credit card couldn't be authorized, which I had been expecting. After a ton of running around with the bank and Apple, it is now in the status of 'Prepared for Shipping'. No date change on ship/delivery tho. :(
 
Just called Apple. She said their was still no proof of folks getting machines out of order. I was nice (no need to get crazy or anything). Got free next day shipping (which showed up immediately on my order status). Still nothing else on my machine though. Purchased Jan. 19. Not shipped yet.

from everything I've gathered, the folks that upgraded to the 500GB drive are seeing the worst delays. Plenty of stock 320's have shipped but very few 500's. Of course that's what I ordered......:mad:

That's the (unscientifically verified) feeling I'm getting - in retrospect, I should've just gone with the 320... I've got 1.5 TB of HD waiting here in my office that would've made up for it, but no! I had to have that extra 180 GB... ugh! :(
 
I'm starting to get pissed off that mine hasn't shipped yet, esp. since i PAID for next day shipping, and some of you little snots who ordered AFTER me called and conned apple into giving it to you for free.
 
I woke up this morning to a "prepared to ship" notice, but no further activity. I checked with the credit card and it shows it a payment. So, at least, I have received some activity. Ordered my 2.8 with wireless card, mouse, keyboard and 8800 on Jan 20th.
 
I ordered my Mac Pro with the Nvidia 8800GT video card last week and it shipped today. Supposed to get here on the 14th - Valentine's Day. That the CRAPPIEST DAY OF THE YEAR to get a new computer!
