ah-HA! Another 320 drive.... oh, why oh, why did I go 500... woe is me. (Said with a wink... I really don't take all this seriously. I'm actually kind of enjoying the tension, as long as it doesn't go on TOO long and interfere with upcoming jobs!)

Man, I'm in Fort Worth!!! Ours could have shared the ride to Texas together! That's crazy that I don't even have shipping confirmation yet. My total ticket was over $5k with the time capsule, printer and other stuff I bought. I wish they'd show blind loyalty some love!!

I went on the BTO Apple page. If you only add the 800gt card - 7-10 days
If you only add a 500ghz drive - 7-10 days.
I doubt it's just the drive. Could be they only got so many cards.
I've not seen less than 7-10 days since the 8800 cards started shipping.
Could be totally random.
Aggravating.

I got a theory posted that would explain why 500GB is an issue for older orders and not for current ones. But I have no proof so don't put any weight in it :)

Ok, I'll bite. What is it?

Theory: The older Mac Pro orders with the 500GB drive used the Seagate drives with the firmware issue. The newer machines were built with newer 500GB HDs that don't have an issue. The older orders with the bad HDs were sent back or waiting to be rebuilt.

Yeah, well, the theory falls apart when you go and do a BTO and the card says the same thing as the drive - 7-10 days.

Because they have 500GB drive set for a delay on the website, which would be to make sure they have enough to fill the old orders that need the newer drive.

about the 500gb drives

placed an order yesterday for a dual 2.8 with 8800gt and 500gb single drive, everything else stock config, overnight shipping. this morning I saw all the posts here about the 500gb drives holding orders up, so I called apple to switch back to the standard 320gb drive. the apple rep said that no changes were allowed to my config, and that it was already in production.
Seems like the 500gb drive isn't a problem for new orders, anyway.
My order status page still just says 'not yet shipped', though . . . . .

Garh... I don't know enough about that issue to say yay or nay, but I do think that it does have something to do with the 500 GB drives because I seem to remember when 8800GT's were still causing multiple-week delays the 500 GB option did still jack up the wait 7 to 10... actually, I just checked again, and now it's down to 5 to 7, so the 8800GT is officially the biggest delay again! For Pete's sake... I can't make hide nor hair of it.

AAAAAH! That's it. I give up. I'm now convinced :apple: doesn't want me to have my computer. ;)

I shall now mollify myself by digging into the Valentines SweetTarts® early.

Hahahaha - grrrr... ugh. I'm so conflicted. "Not yet shipped". I'm unplugging my computer now.

Much to the chagrin of my girlfriend, I refreshed the FedEx tracking page upon waking this morning around 7:10am. The latest - at 7:05am, my package is now "at local FedEx facility" in Bklyn! :D

I know what's going to happen. I'll get to work just after 9, refresh the page and see that it was delivered at 8:55a.

I'm in Brooklyn too, with an expected delivery date of 2/14. Fortunately I'm off that day, but if I weren't, my wife would be under strict instructions not to leave the apartment until the computer arrives.

What are the chances I can call Fedex and get the truck driver's cell phone number so I can get the exact whereabouts of my computer? Maybe ask him to drive a little faster? :)

It's almost been 24 hours and my FedEx tracking info hasn't changed at all yet.

I gotta believe something is wrong there.

I have 2 day shipping, it's gotta get a move on!

MOST TRIUMPHANT
:apple:

I've got the same result, it's maddening.

I called Apple and they have no idea. They said that it is shipping from overseas.

I figure it's just some glitch.

I can't wait!

Ted

mine was shipped feb 9th (saturday) via fedex ground (standard shipping)

Yet two days later, the tracking number on the fedex site still produces "no record". Anyone experiencing this? should i wait it out before calling?

I'm following the delivery truck via satellite. Wait. WHAT. IT'S STOPPED. Damn, Red light. I can't stand this waiting.:(

First post...

On my new MP8800. I just upgraded to 10GB and about to pop the two 500GB Barracudas in. Monitor #2 arrives tomorrow. I had everyone downstairs in the office looking out for the fed ex truck before it arrived this morning.

Then... the page... "Erik... it's here."
