Mac Pro 8800gt Are Shipping!

Whoooo hooo! Finally my status changed to "Prepared for shipment" this afternoon! :D :D :D :D

8800gt performance in COD4

same settings i used with ATI x1900xt vs new Mac Pro that was delivered today.

avg frames with ATi was about 125fps now with the 8800gt they are 225fps

pretty happy with it thus far. however all i have done in put the Boot Camp XP drive in and ran windows so... lol
 
So I have mine, and it's blazing fast... can't play RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 on it (even with the patch... which is built in to the CD). Don't like the game much, but the game deciding it doesn't like me either = not cool. Maybe its the 8800. Or 10.5.2. Or Hillary Clinton.
 
Yeah, my machine shipped today as well. I know it supposed to take two days, which means Fed Ex is going to sit on it for a day between Cali and Arizona. :)

BTW,
If you try to call FedEx to arrange a pick-up for your MP instead of waiting at home, just forget about it, APPLE will not allow it to sit in the FedEx facility to do so? I figure for various reasons.
 
Does anyone who has received their MP have a Seagate ST31000340AS Barracuda 7200.11 1TB? If so, how is it?
Also, what RAM do you recommend?

Got mine yesterdag the 11th around noon. (Belgium)

But there is something wrong. Can anyone post his cinebench scores for the 8800 openGL ? I get something at 6040 which is around a little less then the HD2600 that comes standard. And this is so wrong.

so far haven't found any tests on the net to do a real compare. And Xbench sucks cause it gives various results. Even the results don't differ with the ones from a HD2600

Hooray!!! My Mac Pro 3.0 with 8800 GT "prepared for shipment" this afternoon and "shipped" just a few minutes ago. Ordered Jan 21. Original ship date Feb 27.
 
oh, i forgot:

the lanes for the pci-e for the new mac pro are not changeable so the 1st and 2nd lane are 16x and the other 2 are 4x. The 8800 comes standard in the 1st lane which is also a dual lane. But since the app doesn't work to change the speed of the lane, i can't check and see if the setting is all right.

hope this is just some mess up.
Soon i'll do some more testing.

Email from Apple saying my credit card has denied their request for authorization of payment at 8pm.EST, and again at 9:30pm EST.

Good thing I called them 5 days ago to request that my account definitely accept this request. :confused:

I haven't been on top of the 8800GT threads since they where announced, but is it still in the works to dump the ROM of the 8800GT's that are shipping so it would be possible to flash a store bought 8800GT? I have an 07 MP and I hate to spend $400 on a $200 card.

Is it possible that just the mass build-up of orders (gotta be a few, I'd imagine) combined with the logistical nightmare (again, that I imagine) Apple must have created for itself & the various production lines all cranking out BTO Mac Pros bottlenecked and made for the seemingly complex way they went about getting these out the door?

'Course, had I not been visiting here, I wouldn't know any better, would I? Oof. Whatever. At any rate, I hate obsessing about where a shipment is, but I can't help it. I do it with books from Amazon. How could I resist not constantly checking on something like this?! Oh, yeah - I forgot. I'm a geek.
