The update is for 2008 Mac Pros only. Yours is an earlier design.

This update has killed my LaCie Dual Channel 3Gb/s SATA II
PCI-Express Card!

Now nothing is listed in ASP other than my graphics card and even with re-installing the driver, restarting and repair permissions I get nothing.

If it had said unplug all third party hardware I would have.

Be warned, unplug everything third party usb/firewire/PCI.

Brodie

Try the card in a different PCI slot if you can.

Thanks it worked!

Why did that work? I took it out before, booted & shutdown, put it back in the same slot and it didn't work. I hope this doesn't mean that slots had it. I'll try it back in it again...

Did you also try resetting your PRAM, etc?

If I had to guess - it would be a giant guess though - I'd say
the new firmware is slightly buggy with regard to that slot.

After the firmware update, I finally have the multi-thousand dollar Mac Pro I paid for. The Mac Pro is as handsome as it is powerful, but lingering bugs nearly reduced it's offerings and experience to that of an 'eMachine' for me.

Though I'm still unhappy with Apple's decision to not acknowledge the (RAW)issue; leaving their customers in the dark.

I know it has been a rough couple of months for Apple, with their stock plumetting, slow iPhone sales, their OS being hacked in public, etc etc etc... But to give your loyal customers the silent treatment is a no-no.

Yes I did, forgot to mention that i reset the PRAM and SMC as well but it still didn't show. Haven't tried it back in the old slot since it's shown up but will report back when i get a chance to.

Took Them Long Enough.....

I know people had been posting feedback to Apple on the restart after waking from sleep issue for at least a month.

Well, I guess we should be glad they actually fixed the problem, albeit slowly.

I'm happy to report my Mac Pro is waking from sleep just fine, whether from automatically sleeping after a set period of time in Sys Prefs, or manually sleeping.

That was really the only gripe I had with the machine. All else is running just fine. I love my Mac Pro, and I won't sell it for a new one when the new Mac Pros come out with graphics cards I can't use in my early 2008 model. :p

Not only did it fix the sleep issue, but the computer seems much more stable after the firmware update than it did before. I haven't had any more freezes or excessive fan noise at wake or start-up. Everything is working like it should. :)

I work in the software industry and from my perspective 1 month to fix a problem of this nature is actually very fast. When you factor in problem diagnosis, functional specifications, coding, regression test, etc. 4-6 weeks goes by pretty fast.

I had a feeling all the mac pro needed was a new efi firmware update to fix the sleep issue... Lol no offense to those guys who exchanged the mac pro 3+ did it for nothing. :p

Well... I'm glad my MP is humming away with the new firmware update and that it's humming great. I'm also glad Apple is not like Dell or any of the other hardware companies where they release a firmware update after several months (if lucky), saying "yeah, we'll release a firmware update soon, or now... not now, but soon, a bit later, yeah, in a couple months". It's just good to know Apple released it and to hear things are running smooth. :D
