Not sure. I however, did notice that I have a scheduled ship date that is earlier than people who ordered before me. I've heard just about every theory possible and there's always someone elses order that debunkifies them. It's all screwy in Apple land.

im one of them im afraid:(, mine is technically meant to ship on the 29th despite ordering on the 8th!

I just hope apple get their act together soon

It is quite odd also, I read that Apple doesn't charge your credit card until the item ships, however, they charged mine the day I ordered it. Not that I care, 'cause I have the funds available, but just an FYI for peeps who were wondering.

i was wondering about this too. My card has been charged, yet i have had no mention of this from apple, bad customer service in my opinion. I think I may call them and find out what exactly is going on!

Are the cards really charged? Usually for me they put a hold of the funds so they know they will get the money went they do charge it, so, i guess its about the same, as your avalible money goes down do to the hold...

No, the only way they can see if your card can handle the charge is to ask for an authorization in the amount of the order. It drops off after a few days, since that's all they do. They redo it when they actually ship.

It does take however-many-thousands off your available balance, but just for a short period.

well, they said my card was authorised when i ordered (maybe its a uk thing), but now, ten days later, my card still seems as though it has been charged, this does not sound good!

I ordered mine on friday and it's due to be delivered on Wednesday.

naw wait 24 hours then check it out;)
...FedEx still doesn't have my tracking # in their system at all. Apple says that it's still due to be delivered tomorrow but if not, that I should call. I'm not sure how they could know that if it's in FedEx's hands but they have no record of it. From my experience FedEx (and all postal companies) scan packages at every point on their journey. Maybe my package made it on the truck / plane without getting scanned.

my baby is now prepared for shipment. :D hopefully my monitor gets here before or the same day as the MP or, darn. ordered 2/13

Mine came this afternoon! Ordered Feb 8, shipped Feb 13. Regular/free ground shipping.

And so far . . . knock on wood . . . nary a hitch. Plugged it in and confirmed that it wasn't DOA, then opened it up and installed 16 GB (2x8) of OWC RAM and two 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 drives. I decided just to do what some people recommended, and booted from the OSX Install Discs and installed a fresh 10.5.1 onto one of the F1 drives, which is now my boot drive.

Yes, it came with 10.5.1 installed.

My stock 500GB drive is a WD Caviar SE16, model WD50000AAKS. That I'm leaving in bay 1 and will make it into my Vista/BootCamp drive once my copy of Vista arrives.

So . . . very pleasant. After installing OSX and updating it, and now near the end of the initial Time Machine backup, via iStat Pro the Samsungs are both 80°F. The WD isn't doing anything and it's 97°F. Heh. Both these Spinpoints are nearly silent. I don't hear the MP at all over the air filter I've got in this room, which isn't all that loud itself.

I'd guess that it's because of the shipping distance and it therefore being FedEx Ground. FedEx Ground usually doesn't update their data if it's a short delivery and no US FedEx tracking data has been updated over the weekend in general anyway due to President's Day.

I have, and it doesn't reboot.

At least, not the couple of times it's happened.

I am not going to let it sleep, though, given what everyone says about the sleep thing.

I ordered today at 2:06pm, with estimated shipping in 3-5 days. I was hoping to get it by the end of the week or early next week. Any reason I should suspect that the estimate isn't accurate?

I ordered it with overnight shipping; the less time this thing spends with UPS or Fedex, the better.

2x2.8Ghz
2GB RAM
1x320GB Drive
1xSuperDrive
1xAirport Extreme
1x8800GT

I ordered mine on the 15th, it was prepared to ship on the 16th, and has now shipped on the 18th. Due to receive on 2/22 Fed Ex ground. Shipping from Fulerton, CA to Cleveland, OH. Not a bad turnaround, 1 week.:D

2.8octo, 1TB hard drive, 2GB ram, 8800gt, wi-fi, 2 superdrives, final cut express, and logic.

That's not true for FedEx or UPS; neither took a holiday today.

Not any of which do I say to be argumentative, but rather to say that if your stuff isn't showing up in FedEx, there's some other reason.

to me at least, it seems as if those who order now will get their machines quickly, so you should be fine. However those of us who ordered while the shipping estimates were greater are being somewhat left in the dark:(

Re: Mac Pro Shipping Estimates (Feb Orders)

Fedex said they would deliver my package on Feb 19. I was there all along and suddenly I see my delivery status updated to "Delivery Exception". I ran out and there was no door tag. I called Fedex and they said they couldn't do anything about it. They kept on saying they tried delivery. But I was there awaiting the Fedex truck   . They will attempt delivery today. He better comes. I wasn't expecting this from fedex at all. They don't even show up nor leave a door tag and update their delivery status. Wish something could be done about it. Come to think about it... what?
