Damn, count me in, I`m really needing this update.

Seems that I`m going to see a huuuge speed bump ;).

I`ve got a Mac Mini G4 with 1,4 GHz and 1 GB ram. 99 points at cinebench ... sounds like fun, doesn`t it ?

I guess, if the new Mac Pro Octo is going to feature harpertown, my upcoming machine is going to be around 30 times (!!!!!!) faster. (actual octo is already 23 times faster).

so apple: bring it on :D

Me too!

Wanting to replace my curent G5 Quad with GeForce 7800 GT, AND dead gaming PC...

So, most be a nice upgrade and... PLEASE... a good grfx card! (#$$@#$%^%&)

I'm in. My old, homebrew Win box is on its' last legs and I have a MBP C2D to "ease" my transition to Mac, but I need this desktop NOW! I'm trying to start a video business to add to my photography so horsepower is a BIG plus for me. Bring it on! :)

Am I the only one who's without a Mac?

I can't believe you don't have a mac since you've been saving the forums for so long from the repetition of Merom and Penryn threads. Will this be your first mac or did you sell of another mac in anticipation of the mac pro?

I've had two Macs already. I sold my last one in May in anticipation of the Mac Pro and Leopard.

I'm waiting. The day it's announced and available, I'll place an order. Currently on a G4 / 450 (1 gig memory / 750 GB total drives), our third mac. First was an SE (1 MB memory and two floppy drives - no HD), second a Power Mac 6100/66 (16 MB memory and 80 MB HD, I think). All three were purchased new, not long after they came out. Mr. Mac Pro will be #4. Hope to have two quad core processors, 5 GB memory and at least two TBs of HD. All three (and soon to be four, I expect) cost between $2,000 and $2,500 as I recall. So in real dollars, the price as dropped a lot while performance has gone up an unimaginable amount.

I can't wait until the "Waiter Haters" come in and wreck this thread

It's only a matter of time now. But it's nice to see there are far more waiters than the handful of us that have traded blows with the nonbelievers. I've been exploring "alternative" operating systems recently so I'll be content for a while. ;)

I'm not really waiting unless the revisions are really significant. On a MP 2.66GHz now.

But to the OP, good move to start this thread. :) Hope you guys won't have to wait too long. Good luck!

I am waiting - just sold G5 to finance it, but seems I sold too soon, who would have thought it would take this long to get an update.

I have a fear that it will take until January so they have something to announce. THe fear is that I really can't wait until next year and would have pulled the trigger on the 7th with any upgrade.

Interesting how many "newbies" are here.

suneohair, I thought you were going on hiatus?

"Alright everybody. I am going on hiatus until the update. I will be logging in for PMs for some deals I have going. But I won't be posting. I will observe though".

Yeah. I am mainly staying out of the Mac Pro section. When I see inaccurate information, I like to clear that up. Since I am logging in for deals I can't resist at times :D

I'll sign up guys but I don't know if I can run the whole race with you. I really need to upgrade now:p

Also, what are the chances of the Cinema display (30") being upgraded at the same time??

Why are you in here? You have one. And you bust on people for waiting. I can only guess you are here to flame and troll some more. In that case, I look forward to seeing the moniker "In Time-Out" under your name once again.

This thread was started by Amythest for people waiting for a Mac Pro update. Your posting history shows that you 1) have a Mac Pro 2) are not waiting for a new one, and 3) flame people for wating.

P.S. Stop trolling me via P.M. The next PM gets forwarded to the mods for action.

Count me in too, I have been waiting for an update since this summer.

Adobe CS3 crawls on my Rev. A 12" Powerbook, luckily I just bought a house this summer so I have plenty of stuff to keep me busy. I am really just hoping for a little more bang for my buck since this new machine will hopefully last 4+ years. So like many I plan on buying the day Mr. Jobs gives us a nice little update. Feels good not to be the only one waiting.

I'm on the verge of buying a Mac Pro after being utterly underwhelmed by the new iMac which I was almost about to buy, hoping for a significant refresh. Currently running a PowerMac G4/933 as a web browser and for buying stuff online. Just don't trust my main Windows PC anymore even though it's laden down with AV and anti-spyware.

Add that to the fact I get random Blue Screens of Death after doing such ludicrous things as moving a file or plugging in a USB drive. When I'm doing anything creative I just feel like my own computer is going to shoot my work in the face whenever it feels like it.

Now that I've made the decision to completely move to Apple, I feel like I've chosen a bad time. Leopard around the corner, a very likely refresh of the hardware/price is imminent according to rumour.

Count me in. I just hope October is the month I can come join in the party.

It depends upon what you mean by bad time.
It depends upon how long you can wait.
It depends upon what you need for a computer.

I think it is an excellent time to move to Apple. I think the next Mac Pro revision is going to be an absolute beauty.

It is pure speculation as to when the next Mac Pro will come out.
I am guessing November. Maybe it will be September or October.

I like the current Mac Pro but I can not stand the video cards.
I am waiting for a powerful up-to-date high-end bto consumer video card.

If you can tolerate the video cards, buying the current Mac Pro in October isn't a bad idea because you will get Leopard for free.
If I am right about November, it would be an even better idea to wait one more month and get an even better Mac Pro.

p.s. I just thought of something...if the next generation Mac Pro comes out after November, I'd better not give out my address because people will be hunting me down. Yikes!

Dual 2.0GHz PowerMac G5, ATI Radeon X800 XT.
12" 1.0 GHz Powerbook, 1.0GHz.

Waiting

I'm currently using a 2x2GHz G5 w/ 6GB and a Radeon 9800 Pro.

I'm waiting for more cores as I do scientific high performance computing and the switch to Intel requires new compilers and other things.

Please don't laugh...

Hardware Overview:
Machine Name: Power Mac G4
Machine Model: PowerMac3,4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (11.3)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 533 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 896 MB

When do we realistically think the updated MacPro's will be unveiled? I am thinking of getting an iMac but the glossy screens are putting me off [I'm a graphic designer]. Should I wait? My G4 is on its last legs as it's over 6 years old.
