Perhaps the whole fuzz is caused by the new Studio Display??? A FW update is promised, but 15.4 is still the last one...
Not likely, as I would guess the vast majority of people don't even have a Studio Display. I know I don't, and I occasionally have this very issue.

BTW - does anyone have the public beta 12.4 v2 installed? Perhaps it help for getting rid of the sleep problem (of the Mac, I mean) :)

Not likely quite yet. Apple thinks the problem is related to some Network packet or something signaling the Studio to wake up. They contacted me a few days ago to install a couple of profiles that would allow them to look at the incoming packets on my network. Apparently just having wake for network turned off in Energy Saver Preferences does not mean it blocks all incoming network activity.

One thing the Apple guy told me is that they do not look at forums other than the Apple discussion forum for contacting people because they can get your Apple ID there and then contact you. They reached out to me because I posted there. So if you have a problem always make sure gets posted on Apple discussions. That's the only way Apple will become aware of it.

I have been posting there and got 2 answers telling me to contact support. I did that but did not get any further info there. But - good to know the Apple people at least read their own forums.

Please keep us / me posted of any development.

Apparently Apple has a team who lurks on Apple Discussions and collects the Apple ID of posters and will sometimes contact them to collect data on certain problems.

I think this is a bug in Monterey affecting Macs of any kind. It happens to me on my 2017 iMac since moving to Monterey. I do a full shutdown of my machine every night now because of it. Very annoying.

My 2015 late i7 iMac and 2018 Mac mini i7 would wake from sleep sometimes on 12.2 and earlier but nowhere as often as this Mac Studio does. Unfortunately I do not have my iMac hooked up to check it with 12.3 so cannot tell if it has got any worse and I traded in my 2018 Mac mini. In the last 10 years I do not think I have had a Mac that stayed asleep constantly. There would almost always be a dark wake at least every two - four hours. That is not so bad. But a wake every ten minutes with the Studio is just bad. Apple has always had problems with sleep- because they apparently place a very low priority on it. Something I find very puzzling from a company that touts itself as being a green company. And I have let Tim Cook know about it. My Win 10 and Win 11 computers seem to have no problem with it.

My 2017 iMac wakes up like 10 seconds after I put it to sleep. I am assuming it's a bluetooth device doing it but I never had this issue prior to Monterey.

My Studio did this with the Studio Display - was related to having Ask Siri enabled.
Looked like it wanted to keep listening for my dulcet tones at all hours.

Saw the thread title, someone reported this on another forum and he discovered it was due to the Studio Display having 'Hey Siri' enabled. He turned that off and it would sleep correctly.

So what's the cause for those of us who don't have Studio Display? For some of us, this has nothing to do with the display at all.

Have already tested turning Siri off. Does not help at all. Still wakes. This is a very irritating problem and it is clear Apple did not even spend an hour testing sleep functionality on Apple Studio. Have read some people are even having problems with the new studio display not waking from sleep. Yet it works fine with a Dell display.

Very interesting posts to be found here. My late 2015 5k iMac with identical equipment connected and running Monterey had no sleep issues at all. So after my opinion, the whole thing is more or less a "Studio Problem" - probably caused by different glitches. We can only hope, the sleep will be fixed by Apple soon.

Please keep posting!

It's not a Studio issue, necessarily. I had this issue years ago on my iMac. It's something that can happen on Windows PCs, too. Sleep is apparently a complicated thing to do. An infinite number of circumstances can influence sleep behavior, wake machines unexpectedly, or prevent them from sleeping altogether. And it's not always an OS issue, but can be anything from badly behaving apps to external devices (bluetooth, network...).

In my case, back then, it was an issue with Google Chrome that kept the machine awake. Google issued a bug fix later down the road and the problem disappeared.

I fixed my issue on my Studio (and probably was the same issue I had with Monterey on my iMac) - it was the bluetooth from my Logitech MX Keys keyboard triggering the computer to wake. If I flick the bluetooth switch on the keyboard off while asleep the issue goes away.

Recommend someone connect a wired keyboard and mouse of any make to the Mac Studio and turn Bluetooth off to see if problem goes away. I do not have any wired devices to try.

This checks out, but what I don't understand is, if they can't make sleep work on desktops then how do they make it work on laptops? Why isn't there a mode that a desktop can go in that's equivalent to "the lid is closed, stay asleep"?

Laptops can wake up with the lid closed…

For what it’s worth, my Mac Studio & Studio display have been sleeping though the night without issue.

I have listen for Siri off, and wake for network access off

Interesting - I just tried the same: first Siri command on the watch - (guess what?) - Studio wakes up. No change then.

That doesn’t wake my Mac Studio / Studio Display setup.

I tried this by long-pressing the crown to invoke Siri (instead of Hey Siri) to force the watch to issue the Siri request.

Do you have wake for network access turned on?

No, network access is turned off and yes, I invoked Siri the same way pressing the crown.
