I call bull. You get more windows problems because there's so many more windows machines out there. IIRC, windows machines account for 84% of usage, and OS X has about 10%. With those numbers its only natural that you'd see more windows machines, simply because there are more windows machines.

We have a 60/40 split with PC/Mac The Macs are mostly running Adobe and used for design work by a dozen or so clients with another chunk of them us general office machines throughout the rest of out client base. This split has changed from roughly and 80/20 split 4 years ago, the majority of the new Macs wishing the primarily PC using clients are notebooks.

.. and I was about to send my MBP Retina Early 2015 to the Service Center for repair. They can't even confirm that its a known issue till i found it out here. Good to know that I am not alone, it rarely happens though (2x-3x a month since i upgraded to 10.11.4), all this time i thought it's a logic board/memory issue.

Hope they can find out the culprit and send an fix update asap. I feel uneasy to force reboot the machine every time the OS freezes, i have time machine backups though in case of data corruption due to frequent force reboots but still it's a hassle.

From what I've seen so far it's hanging playing YouTube video so most likely a video driver issue. Doesn't Apple QA their updates anymore or is it more profitable to offload the testing to paying consumers?

I have the same problem with freezing of my MacBook Retina. elCap 10.11.4.
It freezes daily. Drives me totally crazy.

Having the same issue Since I bought my new MacBook and thought that is typical with Mac cause I am new to Mac. Hope they gonna fix it soon.

Another here having this issue every few days. Driving me bonkers.
My early 2015 MBPro was faultless until 10.11.4. I hope Apple get there sh*t together ASAP.

Wow, I'm extremely lucky then! 3 laptops here (MacBook Retina + 2 Mac Airs') and no problem at all with Captain. I had no issues after Lion (and those issues was caused by 3rd party apps.... probably the reason Captain is failing for some people here?)
Update: I forgot to mention I have an old MacMini that run smooth with Captain, that makes 4 devices with Captain in my home.

But the majority of Windows users paid under $500.

At $1299 to $3199 for a MBP, Apple better get their ish right!!!

Good point.
I remember when Macs were regularly compared to BMW when it came to quality and price.

But lately, they are more like Mercedes Benz and their quality and price from a few years ago.

Premium price for a sub-premium product.

I just hope it doesn't get as bad as a VW.

If you are talking about the VW Dieselgate, I personally would prefer the Apple product equivalent.

Lie about the energy efficiency of the product to give it extra power.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought about it, and no matter what their intentions were, it was pretty shady stuff going on.

I'd rather them be honest about it.

Unlike Jobs, Cook is a logistics person so his focus is on cheaper and more profitable rather than better quality and user experience. Aluminum isn't a premium material either since it's often used in the cheapest bicycles and even cheaper than steel.

I have been having this problem, too. Though Apple just released an update for OS X. I really hope that it fixes this very annoying problem...

I was just talking about VW's reliability in general.

I had a specific freeze when updating to the last two El Cap public betas on my 2015 13" rMBP -- update would get stuck at "1 minute remaining" and the black space above keyboard would get very hit. After hard reboot, the update actually finished installing. Haven't had a clean OS update since PB3. Will check tonight to see if official release gives same issue.

FWIW, I've had 10.11.4 installed on my iMac from the first day the update was released and had my system freeze only once while loading a webpage in Safari. Meanwhile, my girlfriend hasn't had any freezes on her Mac mini at all, so it was definitely not happening to across the board by any stretch. Both will be updated to 10.11.5 later today anyway and hopefully that resolves the issues that some were having.

Just had a freez after the 10.11.5 update. Looks like it won't help. Shutdown -128

Does anyone has the this message in their console?
"Quicklook: error returned from iconservicesagent: (null)"

It's like a hundred times in there.

I had the freeze yesterday. It occurred while I was playing Starcraft but kept coming after I exited the game. The CPU usage stayed under 10% for the whole time. After reboot everything seem to be working fine now (knock on wood)
