Ironically Windows 10 works fine on my MBP while OSX EC 10.11.04 crashes when using Safari, Apples own software..

Apple representatives have also had the same issues I have been encountering and I have evidence of it.

Currently if you are having these issues want a stable system try using chrome or change OS to W7/10 or Yosemite.

I had a complete freeze of my MacBook Pro (Early 2015) once now. Not even the cursor responded. My roommate has had multiple freezes and kernel panics.

if it was the graphics issue, wouldn't u also see the screen act all wired ? frozen trackpad as well doesn't relate to GPU

Had a similar issue on my MBP for a few 10.11.x versions - however since running the 10.11.5 beta, it's been as clean as a whistle - no crashes, no lag, not even a slight jutter.

I've had this issue on a 2013 21' iMac and also on a 15' 2010 MacBook Pro. Neither device had freezing issues prior to the update.

A large number of MacBook Pro owners running OS X El Capitan are reporting widespread system freezes since installing the 10.11.4 update to Apple's Mac OS.

Hundreds of MacRumors forum members have been posting to a dedicated thread to discuss the issue, which spans 20 pages at the time of writing. The problem appears to be concentrated on 13-inch Retina MacBook Pros (Early 2015) running 10.11.4. Users report that their system becomes totally unresponsive at seemingly random times, with no way to regain access to their Mac other than to force a hard reboot.

The issue was initially reported by MacRumors forum member Antonnn on March 25, four days after Apple released what is the third update to the Mac OS. In Antonnn's case, the freezes have been occurring "about once a week", first when browsing in Safari, but then also during the use of other Mac apps, including Adobe Photoshop and several third-party browsers. The freeze seems to affect not only the screen and mouse cursor but also the Mac's Force Touch trackpad, which completely loses feedback.

Many other users have since reported similar freezes after updating to 10.11.4, with some 15-inch MacBook Pro (Mid 2015) owners also experiencing issues. One potential cause has been identified from crash logs as a system framework or an Intel Graphics driver bug. The issue is also being reported after installing Safari Technology Preview Version 1 and OS X 10.11.5 Public Beta 1.

Apple Support is apparently aware of the issue but have so far offered no concrete solution. Meanwhile, some users have resorted to downgrading their system to 10.11.3 by restoring from a Time Machine backup or performing a clean install.

We'll update this post throughout the day as we learn more.

That's a new innovative feature of OS X derived from Apple Watch. Every hour your Mac freezes so you can stand and take a break while it's rebooting.
Syncing your Mac with Apple Watch will fix it. Syncing will be available in OS X 13 El Beijing.

Apple's losing it. Maybe stop building campuses, working on cars, fiddling with the stupid watch, and just concentrate on the one thing that built Apple from the ground up: Stable Mac Hardware and Software.

Best post ever. Turns out iPhone is the death of Apple.

I am going to be honest. Tim Cook needs to man up and start cutting the fat. If there is one thing Apple was known for it was solid software and now its just gotten to the point of absurdity how many things they release with bugs that should have been discovered and fixed during the beta period

I've had similar happen on my 2011 MBP. Keyboard going completely dead, but trackpad still kinda responding in spits and spurts, before the entire machine crashes and needs a reboot. Lots of beachballing in between when using safari (which is supposedly another non-related issue). Makes me yern for the good old days of mavericks, wish I had never 'upgraded'.

From the day I installed El Capitan, my iMac was transformed into a slow beast. Spotlight searches essentially lock up the system. FYI my iMac is just a couple of years old. Spin UP and quality DOWN at Apple unfortunately.

Hello.

This is a bug. To resolve this bug simply reinstall your graphics drivers on OSX.
For example if you are using Nvidia Web-drivers.
HOW TO FIX
Follow this steps:

.01 click the nvidia icon in the right top corner on your desktop and choose OSX Default Graphics drivers Drivers
.02 Reboot
.03 Click the Nvidia icon on your desktop and choose Nvidia Web Driver
.04 Reboot.
(Fixed)

Gonna have to try this. I have had plenty of lock ups in past few weeks.

I can confirm I'm not experiencing this on any of my Macs. 10.11.4 remains as rock stable and reliable as all previous builds. Windows 10 on the otherhand continues to freeze up and crash 10 times a day. That really is a bad OS.

Ugh! Was just getting ready to finally upgrade from Yosemite to El Capitan. Guess I'll keep waiting...

Hmm. Interesting. My 2012 MacBook Pro did the freeze once since update--using Safari. Hasn't happened again but at least I'll know what to suspect if it does.

REAAAAALY?

1 crash since windows 10.
1 crash at least every other week with El Cap.

So tired of this....

Regarding the issue – two users at work experienced these freezes on their new MacBook Pro 13" Early 2015, so the current model. Not sure if the problem is really gone because if it, but after I started them in safe mode and then did a ”normal” restart (i.e. without holding down the Shift key) they say their computers has been stable, and it's been a couple of weeks now since I did it.

Edit:

I seen now there are people who tried the ”safe start” and still have the issue. Maybe the two users at work just have been lucky and for some reason didn't hit the bug since I did the safe start, I don't know…
