it's had issues being unable to wake properly from sleep mode
This is the only issue I occasionally still have.
I did have a graphics driver issue but that appears to have been fixed and that was the cause of my one and only blue screen.

MS had a pretty terrible launch of SurfaceBook and Surface Pro 4 and they were rightly hammered for it.

Just chiming in to say I have this exact laptop and the freezes have been happening daily (at least) since 10.11.4.

In a way I’m relieved to find that the problem is widespread.

Best post ever. Turns out iPhone is the death of Apple.

Actually, even before iOS, the iPod was making more money for Apple than their computer line. Ironically, Apple has made most of their money from products other than Macs in the 21st century.

That's not the fault of the OS. I've lost a considerable amount of work before because of application or OS crashes but I don't blame the software, system, or hardware. I blame myself for not saving my work frequently enough (or turning on auto-save to a short interval). Crashes will probably happen. The fault lies with the person not having a backup or a more frequently saved file. Having "faith in the awesome power of the Mac" is not an Apple or Mac problem, it's a person problem.

Owww dear. Yes, it's the responsibility of the user to backup and save thier data, but since the user cannot predict when a crash will happen, they cannot proactively save work....

and it's not about saving, it's about productivity loss, of having to go back, context switch, and redo the work, not knowing when the next crash happens, even if you set it to auto save every 1 minute, it's annoying.

Hardware is not at fault, software is. And it's not good enough for it to crash and the user blame themselves. That attitude is what resulted in Microsoft producing crap OS for years, users complained , and it's got a quality product now.

Apple users need to complain, and make it loud, so apple hears it's not good enough.

I'm on an MBA 2013 and I've had this issue since updating to 10.11.4 two or three times now.
I couldn't pinpoint it down to what I had just done, but now that I see it here, it probably wasn't me?!

And Windows is bug free, oh you're so naive !

MS Windows has to deal with Frankenstein Computers people build with a million different combinations of different parts.

Macs have hand picked components from Apple's best engineers. Mac OS doesn't have to deal with a million different hardware combinations.

To say it is OK for macs to have the same problems as Windows is insane.

I'm not having any issues, but I have 10.11.5 beta installed. I also put in a SSD recently.

You are not having the issues others are reporting with 10.11.4 , while not running it, sorry, you comment made me lol. But thanks for the positive spin on this story :)

Not seeing freezes on my mid-2011 MBA but, definitely very slow particularly Safari. Also, constant fan activity.

I have had this issue, talked to apple care last week. They took me through a series of steps and have not had a lock up since.

Genuinely, thank you for posting this MR ... I had a handful of rMBPs serviced with replacement MLBs as a precaution based on this description from end users. So now I know that it's a bug rather than a hardware issue and will be fixed.

There was an iMac as well that was exhibiting similar issues (21.5", 3.1GHz i7, 8GB RAM, GT 750M) -- that's getting a new LB fitted as we speak. Can anybody confirm if the issues are just isolated to the rMBPs, or other machines too?

Are you serious? You replace MLB's because of system freezes as a precaution? A bit extreme don't you think? I see this trend a lot with Apple people. Instead of basic troubleshooting, lets format/replace all the things instead of waiting a few days or look into a software issue.

Blows my ****ing mind when I read stuff like that. That's just excessive.

Windows computers have no problem then. The problem only stems from the user

I have an iMac that is very similar to that. Brought it in. They claimed it was the logic board. I did not believe them, but I have AppleCare, so it's their dime. Haven't had an issue since they replaced it...

I thought it would be helpful to say the issue is fixed in the next update. Maybe Apple will accelerate it's release along with iOS 9.3.2

The problem with El Crappy is SIP. Think about it; Apple has walled off the HD. Apps can't access the resources they need and so they crash. The inconsistency with problems IMHO is because some apps need more access than others.

If Apple cared what I thought I'd tell them to ditch the entire concept of walling off the hard drive and go back to the pre-El Crappy model. If they want to improve security (if that's what SIP was really for) they should do it through an improved Gatekeeper.
